You will make two services, one for each port. The Service Name is only something to help you remeber what you made the entry for (the service name does not matter to anyone but you). The user should be any. The triggering port, starting port, and ending port are all the same (either 6112 or 6667, depending on which you are setting up at the moment. Finally, leave the connection type as TCP/UDP.

This guide will walk you through step by step. If you need further help, please let me know.

To other users, you can check this link http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm for other router brands/models.

When I type in the password, password the thing resets. I tried again twice and this came up.

Maybe you're using the wrong password. Check to make sure someone else in your household hasn't changed it to something different.

I asked my dad about this a while ago. When he had linksys installed he had some college student set it up. He tried to ask the college student what the password was afetr he set it up, but he never emailed my dad back. Any clue to change the password or something?

I've never had to change an unknown password on mine. You'll have to ask your dad to figure that out. Sorry.

I'm pretty sure he's as clueless as I am. I guess I'll ask him.

There is a reset button on all routers, usually on the back. Pressing the button for about 10 seconds will usually reset it to the default settings. The default password and Username for a Linksys is usually "admin" for the Username and the password blank. If in doubt, just check Linksys' site for the information. Make sure you check the information before you reset the router.

Remember: if you reset the router to the factory default, all the settings will be lost! You will need to reset the encryption, password and anything else. If you choose to do this, you should download and then install any updated firmware available from Linksys' site while you are resetting the router.

You never said what the Internet Problem is, you just said its broken so how does the end user know if this is the right solution but port forwarding posses a MAJOR SECUIRTY RISK and leaves your system vulnerable to hackers, I would not recommend it. Probably 3 quaters of the people viewing thread has no idea what the link to that article means, I barely understood that.
Geek Squad are also known for being salesmen first and cruddy technicians second.

Will I have to reset it to factory default? Or is there any other way to have the password changed?

If you do not know the password and can not log into the router's control panel, this is the only way you will be able to change it.

Once the router is reset to the default, you will have to generate a new code for all the wi-fi connected products you have.

Many routers have pre-programmed some popular games into them to make Port Triggering easier, but they don't list all games. You will have to enter the port number and Toontown Online manually.

Geek Squad is the computer technical support team for Best Buy stores in the US.

Then you should ask a parent or someone who has computer knowledge for help.

EDIT: never mind i finally solved the problem.

For Linksys WRT54G the MTU is set to 900 if normal or set to 1364 if also connected to xBox.
In QoS page under Gaming the 6112 and 6667 ports must be defined to "Highest" before putting these numbers in the Port Triggering page.

Thank you SO much for sharing this... I've been out of the game for a while, but recently tried to return and found my Vista machine wasn't at all interested in letting me do that. Your port triggering solution seems to have helped mostly (but not completely)... I'll look into dealing with MTUs when I'm ready to play TT again on a regular basis. Thanks again!
