How do I find what type of router model I have??
Also, I am a bit confused on everything. :-/ I've been "unexpectedly disconnected" from Toontown almost every five minutes I'm on there and I am getting seriously annoyed. I can't even play for 10 minutes without being disconnected. Can someone please help me? I would greatly appreciate it; I just read the guide on the packets or whatever, but it's still a bit confusing to me. I have no idea what to do. |

Broken Connection - Help for Candy
Hi Candy.
We had the same problem with disconnects for almost TWO YEARS with NO help from Toontown or Linksys. We almost quit it was so frustrating. Follow the instructions in this forum and the Linksys WRT54G2 router port forward link below and it should solve your problem. Fix for Broken Connection [merged] http://www.portforward.com/english/r...G2/default.htm When you log onto your router (probably 192.168.1.1), go to the 'Applications and Gaming' tab and set up port forward as shown on the enclosed attachment from Linksys. I typed in the ranges that work with TT as shown on this forum. You will need to determine the IP address of your computer to input into the last blank, i.e. 192.168.1.100, which you should be able to identify from your Control Panel Network and Sharing application. If you do this I bet it solves your problem. Good Luck! Princess Rainbow Wondermuffin and JPWonderdog ![]() ![]() ![]() :HO4thFireworks 02:

You should look on the bottom of the router for the model and version number. Believe me, I know how much it stinks. We went through the same thing for a long time before we found this information. Nothing like disconnects in the middle of buildings, VP, etc to get your friends to really luv ya! Good luck! |

OMG I am SO glad I found this thread! I did the port triggering since I just had to deal with Linksys this morning to get a good, stable connection for both our computers and that's when I REALLY started having the d/c problems and now it works BEAUTIFULLY! NO d/c'ing now AT ALL! I actually made it on without the "internet has unexpectedly been broken" while it was loading! And I'm actually PLAYING now and not getting d/c'd! Thank you to Knuckles Fiddleflinger, aka Geek Squad guy, for posting such helpful information! I ♥ you!!!!

Don't
Code:
ping 12.345.67.890 –t 7. Minimize the DOS window and open Toontown.[/QUOTE] Ping is a troubleshooting utility from dos. It causes your computer to send "blank data" out to the device you specify with the IP address. the -t operator tells it to send the data until you stop it. Have you been in a room with a lot of people constantly talking? It adds to coversation congestion. This is EXACTLY what you will be doing with this "fix". You'll be fouling yourself up at the same time you do everyone else. To verify this is correct, when you get to the dos window type ping /? Also google ping. What ping does for you is to verify that the device you are trying to reach is responding to you. That is all. It will not improve your performance, if anything it will slow it down as you'll be using more of your bandwidth. Network Adminstrator |

For BlairBear:
I only know how to find the Linksys model only.
For Linksys:Check on the bottom right corner look very carefully theres something that says 'Model' look by it it will say something like WRT54G. If i find any other information on other routers i will post it on this post. Hope this helps!

OK I am brain dead, but I've read the Port Triggering info and I am still unclear WHERE to put the two port numbers. Do they belong
A) in the Triggering Port box or B) in the Starting Port Box or C) in the Ending Port Box or D) all of the above? I am computer savvy, I can get into my Netgear setup just fine, but I am unclear as to WHERE to put those two port numbers to make things work. We were having no issues with TT until the latest install of IE8, and now both my kids computers are pulling the "can't connect to gameserver-lv.toontown.com:6667" stuff, so I need to get this FIXED--I can't take the whining. (Ironically, both our regular office PC and the laptop are just fine--it's ONLY the 2 kid PCs, both of which are older models). Can someone just point me to WHICH Port Box to put those port numbers in?? Thanks... Marilyn |
