Cos I have a Mac, but every time I log on, I get disconnected. =\
It shouldn't be the computer. It should be the router.

Thumbs up Woowhoo!

Why couldn't I find this thread earlier? I searched and searched, contacted tech support and nothing until I found this link http://www.massively.com/2008/01/10/...h-your-router/
I want to thank you Knuckles, Disney support could learn a thing or two from you!

Everything with tt was working great and I could play for hours without a problem. But now, since the addition of the new trolley games, I am getting the lost internet connection. I'm not understanding why all of a sudden I am facing this problem. And, to be truthful with you, I am not computer savvy and fearful of trying to change anything. Is this a bug that tt can fix or do I have to make your fix? Please help, I love playing tt and really miss it. You can pm with the answer, please.

After finally getting my connection problem fixed for the past 2 yrs, I'm having connection problems again lately. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope it's a cable problem.

Thumbs down

Well it's not a cable problem so it's TT as usual. Port triggering won't even help now. Sure is getting tiring trying to stay connected. Why is it you can go anywhere and play anything on the internet but Disneys TT?!!!

You are a Genius!!

I used to play about 1 year or so ago and gave up because my internet connection was always getting unexpectedly broken. I then recently came upon your port triggering information and it solved my problem. I THANK YOU so much. I hated not being able to play ToonTown. You are a GENIUS!!

My sister is an avid TT player, who recently got me started playing TT. After she had problems, she asked me to look into the broken internet connection. I am a member of Geek Squad, so I have access to many different types of routers, and this has worked for each. (I give this advice despite the nasty comments TT support has said about Geek Squad to both me and my sister) as I want everyone else to be able to play.

The dropped connection issues I have seen are relating to packet loss, as so many other people have said. This is not due to wireless, as I play on 4 or 5 different wireless networks a day; it is simply a port forwarding/triggering issue.

You do not want to port forward, as it would only work with one PC, however, if you enable port triggering in your router for ports 6112 and 6667, this has solved the issue on every router I have worked with, at multiple locations. The range for the trigger and the forward should be set the same. A guide that might help can be located here. http://www.portforward.com/help/porttriggering.htm

If you are uncomfortable doing this yourself, you can always call in a professional and give them this information. I work for Geek Squad and have been on several calls to repair TT, so this is just a suggestion. Please let me know if this works for you, as it has all other machines. If not, I'll see what I can come up with.

I triggered the ports yesterday morning and we have been playing hours at a time with absolutely no problems! Instead of getting booted off every time we turn around, we get to play, play, play! Thanks so much for this information

I don't understand

Is there a way someone can thoroughly explain how to do this port triggering thing..? I use wireless internet with RoadRunner and I've been experiencing breaking in internet connection as well. I just don't know how to do it on my own. If I just settled to hooking an ethernet cord to my computer from the modem, would it solve the problem? Thanks.

Thank you Knuckles! I too have been all over the Internet, even emailing TT in an attempt to find a fix to the disconnect. My Daughter and I play and are about to pull our hair out - getting the disconnect at least 8-15 times per day. It has been ridiculous. We even replaced our modem. We are going to try this!! We can't even play the 2 longer golf courses because we get the disconnect. Thank you again!!

Talking RE:Fix for Broken Connection

A router lets two or more computers share the same internet connection the problem probally is your internet connection is going to the other computer and back.

Heres what I think you should do:

1.unplug your router from the ethernet port on the back of your tower (your system that runs the computer a.k.a. hardrive)

2.Check your internet explorer (Firefox,Opra ETC) and click tools and see if your on "Working Online" not "Working Offline" (for Windows Vista and Windows XP)

I too have this problem like when I want to do a building with my friend or Sellbot HQ or something like that.
