Help with Gardening

I couldn't find this, but if it is there I am sorry.
I have planted my 3 bean flowers 4 times now and still haven't moved on to the 4 bean flowers. Do I need to wait longer or is there something I am not doing?
Any help would be appreciated.

I think that you need to check your shovel skill bar in the book on the gardening section. You must be on your bronze shovel level. Once you reach 160, you will upgrade to next shovel and will be able to plant 4 jellybeans.....at least this is what I think. I am still on the bronze shovel and have only obtained one jellybean mix.....3 red jellybeans. Do you know of any other mix I can plant? Hope this helped you out.

I picked my flowers last night and finally got it. I feel a little sheepish for not knowing the shovel skill determined when you could plant new varieties.

do you need recipes for 4 bean flowers? I have them if you do.
