CCG: Training & Info Guide

Cold Callers Guild Training Guide

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Cold Callers Guild was founded by “AJ the Blue Horse” to help people experience the Sellbot VP no matter their suit level or experience. A founding principle to enable this was that there be no elevator shuffle when fighting the cogs.
For a look into a bit of our history from one of the founders perspectives go here

1. Membership in the Cold Caller's Guild (CCG)

Anyone can join the CCG as long as they agree to follow the rules we have set in place. This means that you can be a Mr. Hollywood 50, or a Cold Caller level 1. There is also NO restriction on the amount of Laff Points that you have. If you wish to join, simply go to the thread entitled "So you want to join the CCG!" . Put your toon's name, LP, gag level as well as the first VP run you plan on making with the guild. This will help existing members keep an eye out for you in the lobby.
here is a link to the "Join" thread
So you want to join the CCG!
Please visit our interactive website to add your toons as members. If you submit a toon, it means you have read and agreed to follow CCG guidelines.

To join the ToonTownCentral CCG User group
If you choose to join the CCG by registering your toon on the web pagel you are then eligble to join the CCG User group. Joining this group will give you access to the CCG polls forum.

Access the "Group Membership" through your User CP. The column on the left lists several options. The last one on the list is "Miscellaneous". The third option on that is "Group Membership". Click on that and request to join the CCG. Under "reason", it's nice to note that you have already registered on the web page. If for any reason, your ToonTownCentral User name and the name you registered under on the web page are different....please note that. We check the names of those requesting to join against the membership on the web page. Any variance could mean we won't find your name and would result in a delay in your approval.

2. Guild Rules and Guidelines

The reason this Guild was created (thanks AJ), was to avoid the elevator shuffle. So, that is our most important rule. No getting off the elevator. There are only two situations where it is ok to get off the elevator or alt-F4 after the doors close:
A) A TALL toon (experienced member) says "wait a minute". If a toon says this, they may want to try to get a better mix of toons on the elevator. We don't expect this to happen very often.
B) If the team has 5 or less toons. If there are 6 toons, you are expected to stay on and try your luck.

Anyone is welcome to join in our runs so long as they are willing to abide by our core set of beliefs:

*No elevator shuffling (once you are on the elevator, stay on the elevator)
*No refusing to go to the VP with Cold Callers
*No refusing to go to the CFO with Short Changers
*No refusing to go to the CJ with Bottom Feeders
*Pack the elevators!
*No <alt>-<F4>ing from the elevator unless there are less than 6 toons after the doors close
All of the other rules are secondary to the first one listed. To view the list of Guild rules, go to our website

Guidelines:

*No refusing to load because of suit, laff, or gag levels.

*Taking cogs out 1 at time using "Lure left/kill right" is the preferred strategy of the CCG.
This protects all toons but especially low-laff toons. Please do NOT sound away the little cogs unless the entire team agrees to use sound.

*The CCG does not approve of the use of angry, unfriendly speed chat such as "You Stink", "I think this is too risky for you," "Are you new here", etc. in an unfriendly way.
It is counter productive to the spirt of teamwork. HOWEVER, sometimes CCG friends will use of these types of phrases on each other followed by a "hee hee". It is a special way of being friendly but should be kept to a minimum and always followed by happy faces or happy speed chat lest it be misunderstood.

*Do NOT stand directly in front of the elevator as this blocks the view of those on the elevator.
Toons get nervous when they cannot see the timer and do not know if their elevator has others on board. Applies to "Big" suits only. Suits start getting big around the 6th level.

*The boss cog fight is NOT the place to "work" your gags.
Use a gag only if you are certain you have enough backup for a kill. Throw and squirt are the attack gags relied on most. Often it is better to combine same kind gags for a kill rather than mix gags and risk one missing.

*The boss cog fight is NOT the place to use glitches!
They are often confusing for those new to the boss cog fights. Practice your glitching when you are just with friends...not on a regular CCG run.

*Keep the Secret Friend chat to a minimum.
For some players, SF chat from the opposite side makes it difficult to see what gags are being selected.

*If you are on the loading platform it is assumed you are ready to load. If there are vacancies on the elevator, pack on. If you are not ready to load, stay on the floor or outside.

3. CCG Ambassadors & Mods

We have developed a form to assist you in making reports to the CCG Ambassadors and Mods of questionable toon behavior on a scheduled CCG run.
There have been numerous times since the start of our Ambassdor program that we have all seen publicly posted threads(sometimes accusatory), of questionable behavior before or during a CCG scheduled run.
These types of posts/threads are not good for a number of reasons. For starters, sometimes these types of posts openly flame others which is against TTC policy. Secondly, these types of postings shed negative light on the CCG as a whole. These postings can and do shed negative light on the toon/toons being named and sometimes even the complainant themselves.
Postings such as these tend to "draw down" the CCG members morale, they can cause fights and hurt feelings within our member base.

For these reasons we ask you to privately contact a CCG Ambassador or Mod when you have issues on one of our runs.

Here is a link to the Incident Report Form

The following toons have agreed to be listed as Ambassadors for the CCG. They are the toons that the CCG should go to with any CCG related question or problem. These include (but not limited too) problem on a run, questions about various strategies, etc... Any problems that they can not handle themselves, or that are deemed to be something that should be handled by someone else will be forwarded to one of the CCG mods to handle.

CCG Ambassadors
Princess Lefty Wonderwoof
Good Ol Zigzag Jabbertoon
Scout Mama
Little Fancy Pedalwhip

If the question or problem is related to this website, or this forum in particular, that PM should go directly to one of the Mods listed below.

Good Ol' Murky Paddlefink
King Beany

4. Scheduled VP/CFO/CJ runs

We currently have VP, CFO, and CJ scheduled runs daily, and are constantly looking at adding more runs in order to accommodate toons with different availability schedules. If you have a time that works for you, but is not listed, please feel free to bring it up in the forum.
If you want to do a run, and there are no runs scheduled that are convenient for you, you can always try to set up an unscheduled run. We have a thread just for that purpose. It can be found here CCG: Non Scheduled VP, CFO & CJ Runs!
Our "official" list of runtimes in listed on our website

5. Filling the elevator at runtime

Our primary goal when we fill the elevator is to eliminate shuffling. With that in mind, we do also want to at least attempt to put together a successful, diverse group. An ideal mix would be 2 competent stunners, a couple of cold callers, and a couple of mid laffers. Since this is not always possible, the most important thing to remember, is to FILL THE ELVATOR. Do not leave a slot empty because you don't think you are the right fit for that group. If you can be number 8, then you are the perfect fit
Things to think about:
A. If you are a cold caller, please be patient. (We understand your excitement though )
B. Do not stand on the platform unless you are ready to get on the elevator...period.
C. If you are on the platform, please stand to one side or the other so everyone can see what's going on.
D. If a medium or tall toon hops on and says "let's go, or something to that effect, then jump on.
E. Once on DO NOT GET OFF.
F. If you are a mid laffer...(this can be anyone actually)....once the elevator fills, be ready to jump on and fill in case someone bails at the last second.
G. Do not wait for the perfect group, or a superpowerful group that will guarantee a win.
H. Please have fun

*ATTENTION*
The CCG has decided to make it policy to not start loading elevators BEFORE the scheduled run time. Our organization is not perfect, sometimes the last load will leave a few minutes before the listed run time. If you are late and you really want to go, hang around on the platform; it is not uncommon for a final group to gather and launch up to 30 minutes after the official run time.

We are a loose volunteer organization, sometimes things go wrong, but things work well most of the time and we really do get first-time cold callers through the VP on a regular basis. If something goes wrong on your first trip with us, please try again. Our current success rate over the last year (based upon reported runs) is 88 percent. Meaning 88 percent of the toons who enter the elevator dance at the end.
We mostly win, and we always have fun trying.

Disclaimer: Cold Caller Guild runs and events are held on public property in districts which are accessible to any toon. We cannot guarantee that every toon in Sellbot HQ or Cashbot HQ at a scheduled CCG run is a member of the CCG. Official members of the Cold Callers Guild are listed on our website. If you observe an official CCG member behaving in a manner which is inappropriate or in violation of CCG rules, please feel free to contact us here through the forums.

6: VP/CFO/CJ Battle Tactics

We have some guidelines to use when battling the VP, CFO, and CJ with the CCG. There is also a section on what to do and what not to do when battling along side an uber toon. Over many thousands of runs these guidelines have proven to help us in getting a high success rate in our battles.
Please visit this link to read them.
CCG : Boss Strategy & Uber Battle Thread!

7. VP/CFO/CJ Reporting, and Promotions

VP/CFO/CJ Reporting

We strongly encourage our members to report all runs, even the ones that don't work out quite as planned. This gives a more accurate picture of how well we are actually doing. All runs should be reported, whether succesful or not.
If this was your first ever VP, we can imagine you were less concerned with documentation than with survival. While we rely on our more seasoned members to report runs, each member should take responsiblity for making sure their run is reported...no matter how sketchy the details are. Sometimes others will come forth to fill in the blanks.
If you don't know names of any of the toons except yourself, just enter it into the system as "Toon 1", "Toon 2", etc. If you can't enter it in the system, report what you know in the day specific thread and ask someone to post it.
If you go on a run you should see if it has been reported. If not, you should report it. Minimum requirements are pretty easy, the names and the results.

Please remember~If someone disconnects or leaves mid-battle...between battles or anywhere but at the end of the battle where they probably left to preserve merits...they are not counted. The total amount of toons going in is reduced by the amount of disconnects you have.

Basic format for VP/CFO/CJ results:
1.Date/Time of run
2.How many went in the elevator.
3.Names of participants you can remember (including yours)
4.How many you KNOW went sad, disconnected or (F4ed) to save merits.
5.The clerk being rescued helps distinguish the run.

Helpful tutorial on CCG: How to post a run report courtesy of Dizzy Twinklemuffin.

Pictures and battle run-downs can be posted in the day specific thread. We rely on our members to report all CCG runs. A CCG run is one at our designated location, at or near our designated run time, with at least one CCG member in it.

Please visit our interactive website to report runs, add your toons as members, and update your suit status. It will be your responsibility to update your toons as needed. If you submit a toon it means you have read and agreed to the CCG guidelines.
If you don't want to officially change your suit on the members list, we have a thread specifically for reporting promotions. It can be found at I Got Promoted!

8. Cog HP Calculations and Merit/Buck Requirements

What follows can be critical when choosing gags fighting cogs in the VP.

Cog Health Calculation

Cog Health = (Level of cog + 1) times (Level of cog + 2)

1 = 2x3 = 6
2 = 3x4 = 12
3 = 4x5 = 20
4 = 5x6 = 30
5 = 6x7 = 42
6 = 7x8 = 56
7 = 8x9 = 72
8 = 9x10 = 90
9 = 10x11 = 110
10 = 11x12 = 132
11 = 12x13 = 156 Note: Pianos and Dynomite can only kill up to these
12 = 13x14 = 200
The following are not in game...yet...
13 = 14x15 = 210
14 = 15x16 = 240
15 = 16x17 = 272

Lady Googlebrains created an excellent Gag usage chart to help you determine the minimum gag combinations to use to destroy cogs.

Assumptions:
- Lure Bonus 50% (Doesn’t apply to Sound)
- Combo attack bonus 20%
- All gags are maxed!
- Traditional rounding rather than floor/ceil is used for rounding. It appears Disney uses Ceiling rounding for display purposes, but not in the real damage calculation.

Converted the document into a PDF format - you should be able to print it to fit to page now.

9. Training Runs

We do host training runs. This is a somewhat new thing that was started, so there isn't exact schedules for these yet. For information on training runs please see the general CCG Forum

10. Uber Toon Runs

BEFORE JOINING THIS RUN:
Please do NOT bring your 100+ laff toon to this run. While this run is a CCG endorsed run, which means that once we load we do not jump off, it is intended to be run with an uber type toon. Uber Toons are toons who have deliberately chosen to stay at a particular laff level and develop and maxx their gags instead of their laff points. This is usually no further than the Brrrgh laff tasks. Just because you stop at 99 laff and don't take that last laff to make you 100, does NOT an Uber make There are many other scheduled runs for all toons. This run is not listed on the official runtimes and is only listed in our Uber Toon's Discussion thread, since a very large majority of uber toons are CCG members. Due to the nature and difficulty of these runs we ask that less experienced players please join one of our awesome Cold Caller Guild runs.

11. Fun Stuff

Tacky Tuesday

We always try to have fun no matter the occasion. Some thoughtful people started a new trend for best dressed within the CCG.
We have what we like to call Tacky Tuesday!
Here is an informational link.
Tacky Tuesday

Thug Thursday

Are you up for a risk and an awesomely good time? Ready to overcome some tough situations? Ready to have a memorable experience? Then Thug Thursday will be right up your alley!

Stinking

While stinking may not be for you, we have many here who get great pleasure from the odor of others. Phew!
Please do not assume that if you see some stinking going on in the pit or at the doors to the CFO that it is done with malice or directed at you personally. Its intended to bring us together as a group and to have some fun while we wait for our scheduled runs to begin. It is not a requirement that you participate in the stinkfest, but if this piques your interest and you are all about having fun, please visit
Kitty Litter and Rat Droppings WARNING!! STINKY!! if you DARE.

GSW Social Hour

You may ask what does the CCG do at GSW?
Its a time and place where we can gather and interact, drop some anvils on each other, and get a good laugh. This is not a tool for trying to get everyone their trophies. Basically, just a time to hang out, race, and come up with excuses for "why I beat ya?"
For more info on please visit our GSW Social Hour thread.

12. Miscellany

Discuss any problems you are having concerning VP or CFO runs.
CCG: I have a problem
