I think trainees should step down when the goons turn orange. I kept dropping goons on myself. I could hit the CFO with a safe, (first time doing that, so yay!) but every single goon I picked up fell on or near me when I pulled the crane back to get it to swing at cfo. A few times I threw goons and they landed in another area, sorry about that too. I said, "sorry I cant" and stepped down, hoping someone more experienced would take over. I didnt see much after that, I was stomping and red goons were swarming. I heard 4 go sad and I f4'd out. Sorry! I did my best! I have no idea how to throw a goon at the CFO. Kinda dangerous having me crane the whole time. Sorry guys!

I was on team #3 with Miss Petunia Flippernoodle as our trainer. She is awesome in giving instructions beforehand and giving hints as we were moving along.
I wonder, though, if there were too many practice/first time craners in this group, which made it really difficult to progress through. Sadly, only 4 danced in the end. However, I did get a lot of practice on the crane (and stomping too, for that matter), and I am very grateful for the training run. Thanks so much for organizing it! You guys are great! |

Sir Lionel Wildtoes reports:
3/3 danced on team #3 for TOW Toon-up 40 LP +Doctor Lollipop Dizzyswirl LS10 +Miss Petunia Flippernoodle RB50 <-- Disconnect +Sir Lionel Wildtoes 113 RB10 +Queen Cranky Pedalflapper TW6 <-- Disconnect Little Daffodil 86 SC1 <-- Disconnect Granny Violet McBrains 112 SC3 <-- Disconnect Super Grama 103 SC5 <-- Disconnect Princess Daphne Sparklemuffin 121 RB50 This run started out good but the red goons were out in force at the end. I am not sure if anyone went sad but I did not hear any sad music so I put that everyone disconnected. Thanks to Princess Daphne Sparklemuffin for finishing the CFO. When you get low on laff, ask for a toon-up. I threw a 80 LP toon-up at one point and think I saw another one. I also got lots of practice craning (and stomping). I agree with Doctor Lollipop Dizzyswirl that there may be too many traninees. Maybe 4 trainers and 4 trainees. Something like the tie-dye loading. I only saw 3 toons dance. Sorry if I missed the 4th.

Thanks a lot for this practice run.
I think I was the first one who went sad in group 3 but I was already warned to watch out for it because my lp was only in the mid 80's. I still don't have a hang of the crane. I'd go for a goon and end up with a safe and vice versa -- or worse I'd end up with a live goon and drop him near me. At one point I think I had about 5 safes in front and on my left and I'd try to toss them over to the crane toon on my right. I really couldn't get the hang of when to release during the swing. The TF code I was sent didn't work and it was too late to do anything about it so kudos to whoever it was watching me, trying to tell me what to do using only speedchat. I tried stomping as well and I need more practice in the factory. It was difficult for me to avoid the lights with the red goons. I broke the rule about staying in my quadrant and ended up running around looking for toon-ups. Thanks to the one who used tu unite (?). |

We formed 3 teams for revenge, somehow managing to reballance our teams with plenty of stompers and another chance to practice on the crane.
Now we need bucks again, and to rebuild our level 7s from our sad trip to the playground. I'm sorry so many went sad this time. I've suggested that at the red hat/many goons stage of the run, that the training craners switch places with the stompers and allow the stompers to bring in the victory. It gets too dangerous and moves to the +30 damage with huge lights too quickly. The true learning stage is the yellow hats, where we try to keep that stage as long as possible. We know going into these as helpers that we might go sad, and we are willing to pay that high price. We also know that if you don't know how to crane, you might face many CFOs going sad, so having time to practice and develop the skills might end in one or two sadualities but result in hundreds of victories in the future. It's worth it. Thanks to all who came and participated.

Yeah, Baby!
Dawn Ov Anudae team leader & stomper
Murky, toon will be Ego, running all over the lobby checking on all the teams, stomping BumblebeeBubbles practicing stomper Bluesky, toon will be Ellie May? Craner: poodleberry Craner: Captain Chipper Gigglepop Craner: Prof. Jellyroll McBee Craner: biscuit01 we missed BumblebeeBubbles (far and away the cutest name ever on TT) and Prof Jellyroll McBee, but we got Big Bad Woof ( i think) so we went with 7 and it went well, until the trainees, myself included, got a little behind on using/mashing stompers, and then we got a lot behind, and then, it was kinda like a horror movie.... and then we all went sad, and it was awesome (i'm thinking the stinky side of the force is definitely calling to me*) Ms. Dawn Ov Anudae was laying the blame on herself, which is absurd, she did right well by we trainees, i've never seen so many treasures at CFO before and so we re-grouped and went again, this time with Ricky and one other whose name i'm embarassed to admit that i can't recall, but a huge helpful toon two of these discoed, sadly, but most of the trainees survived the second go-around, including Poodleberry, Captain Chipper Gigglepop and myself the second time through, i thought, let's get right to beating up on the CFO, but even so i'm finding the recovery/set-up on the crane to be a bit of a challenge, tho if i have enough time i can usually knock his hat off it was rough, again, and not in any way due to the play of our leaders, i think the trainees did OK for trainees, but we still required bailing out by the more experienced toons i see suggestions that trainees abandon the cranes when the fight gets too lopsided, and i think that may even be in the notes i read before the training run...fine by me, i hate to be the cause of any toon going sad * the first gag choice in the second go-around was completely muffed by me, (i'm blaming lag) with many choices offered by my fellow toons: drop, sound, trap...i tried to lure so that another could trap, but it all went awry...i haven't laughed that hard at anything in ages, and am seeking a stinky mentor... wonderful experience, hope everyone takes advantage of this in the future, and huge thanks to Murky for doing this for our community biscuit, a wore out horse |

Team 4
Brrlgrrl, Noisy Furball Megascreech, team leader and stomper Disco Queen: gggbutter, Little Dottie Beaniemooch Stomper: Slippy Fiddlepop, Rainbow Gigglemuffin Stomper: Chocoholic, Ricky Stomper: LVTP, Temper Tim Purr Craner: Loopy Bumblequack Craner: smvb, Crazy Soup Gigglechomp All I can really say is "Wow!" You guys are a prime example of toons who take the responsibility of your own success. Because you obviously took the time to read the tips, the instructions and tips in your PMs, and listened while in crane round, you got great practice and danced. I wish every trainee would take the time and responsibilty to read the tips that are posted. Both Loopy and Crazy started with safe placement and removal. Once the mid-sized yellow goons began emerging, we started with throwing goons and they got him to red with just goons. They finished off the CFO when the redhats began to come out. This is how it is done. It was a textbook training run, I couldn't ask for a better team. I look forward to many CFOs in the future with you both operating the crane. Thank you to our volunteer stompers, our stomper trainee, our craner trainees and especially to Murky for your tireless efforts in creating a CFO Training Run program that not only works, but works well. "Please operate the crane." "Let's go fight the CFO!" Last edited by Brrlgrrl; 05-10-2008 at 08:21 PM. Reason: typo |

Thank you guys for your feedback. I do wonder if one experienced craner on the crane as well would be a big help. Thanks for the suggestion.
This was my first time leading a run in which everyone went sad. Please accept my apology for that, I am very, very sorry! ![]() During the run, I saw everyone was able to get his safe off, so this shows that you all got the general idea of how to crane successfully. Unfortunately, there were too many goons being destroyed which caused the orange goons to come out. I think this would have gone better if the door had not been blocked causing the goons coming out to blow up. This causes the bigger goons to come out. Silly Rainbow, if you were holding down the control button the whole time and not tapping it and the goons were falling off by themselves, then I think you had lag which caused the goons to fall off. I wonder if you could shut down other processes on your computer, reboot or something before going in the CFO. But, the fact that you were able to pass safes so well and get the safe off showed me that you will do fine if you can decrease the lag and just keep practicing. I would love to go in again anytime you want and try to talk you through it. I hope you will jump on a crane at regular runs and keep at it. Just be sure not to throw a safe when he is not stunned. Team 3: LOL we got to play 2x
First off let me say "You guys are great!" We had 4 new craners and 2 new stompers on this team. Dawggie was our rocking awesome toon and little old Miss Pet just does her best! I was trying to type AND stomp AND watch...and I am obviously not that gifted! LOL! When I got to jump on a crane I got hit by a swarm of reds and that was it...wah wah. Not the first time! The great thing about a run like this is everyone gets a lot of practice. Stomping in a situation like that is a learning experience and you learn to jump in and go! For those that had to go and didn't go back in I am sorry. I have found going right back in a good remedy for that sadness! Thanks to those toons who went back in...just a little more practice! Thanks to Scottsman and Poodleberry for jumping in and helping with the revenge runs...I know that's not what you came on line for. Sorry you missed your planned run..but you are appreciated! Familiar thanks for leading us back through! You are truly awesome! And why was gggbutter telling me what to do and I wasn't even on her run??? LOL...that still has me confused. Plugging my headphones back in! Obviously unplugging them was not smart! I wanted to be able to py attention??? Thanks to all of you for coming! Thanks Murky for setting this up. I wonder if there is an average number of times someone has to crane to get "good" at it? Hopefully those on these runs had plenty of time for practice!

I think lag and computer speed, graphics card, memory, connection speed, age of the person learning (whose an old dog?) are all factors in how many times it takes to get the hang of the crane.
