CCG - I have a problem

This thread is to discuss any problems you are having concerning VP or CFO runs. We want to be sensative to things that give you grief and help you whenever we can.

The problems might be technical but solvable such as spam tp'ing that causes you to freeze or disconnect.

They might be physical. We have some pple who need speed chat directions as they cannot see gag choices.

They might be lag issues and you just need to let ppl know that you might need someone to throw pies your direction as you can't make the jumps, can't operate the crane....along those lines.

They might be personal and you really don't want people directing angry emotions toward you or your nsf who just doesn't understand it.

Or it might be something for which we can offer possible solutions.

Ok, CCG - Let us know how we can help.

Disconnects

I hate to double post but here is a problem I want to address. Squeaky wrote:

Oh and I'd like to apologize to everyone that I disco'd! This computer is weird and loses the internet signal whenever we get a phone call, grrrr! lol
Squeaky, we just got a new hybrid router that is both wired and wireless. Anything connected to wireless was disconnected with any use of the telephone. Come to find out, the wireless router ran on the same frequency as our phones (2.4 ghz) and when we upgraded the phones to 5.8 ghz the problem was solved. If you are a kid, I'm not sure your parents will be eager to replace their phones... but it's always worth a try.

Thanks for this thread, I think it's great!

My problem has do with the mints. (Deputy Monty if this doesn't fit because its not exactly VP or CFO feel free to delete my post). I can't jump and move forward at the same time. When I get to those lily pad like things floating in the green goo I have a terrible time. I feel bad because I know I am holding up the rest of the group and I worry that my friends will start avoiding doing mints with me. When I hit the up button and the ctrl button I only go straight up (and almost straight back down, usually in the goo). I've had some success hitting the home button along with the other two but I'm thinking that there must be another solution short of buying a new computer. Does anyone else have this problem and, if so, how have they resolved it?

UPDATE I have tried your various solutions and have narrowed my problem down to either (A) Operator Error (that's me not hitting the keys correctly) or (B) a tempermental keyboard. Sometimes I can jump and do glitches correctly other times I just run in place in front of a wall or jump right into the green goo. I never would have thought about replacing my keyboard had I not posted here and gotten that advice. I have a fellow toontown player in my family who is going to come over and try jumping using my set up. That will tell me definitively whether it's the keyboard or me. 10/05/05

UPDATE #2 I inadvertantly hit the insert key at one of the better known glitches and, guess what, that worked smooth as butter! I'm using that key now when the home key doesn't work on the first try. 10/9/05

First off, feel free to post any problem and hopefully we can help you. Now, I personally can't help you on the technical side... BUT.. I can tell you:
You've been a good friend of mine on TT for quite awhile now and I would NEVER... EVER... stop doing mints OR anything else with you because of a technical problem. I LOVE it when you join me in a mint, YOU ARE AWESOME!

Good Luck with your problem though and just remember I will always be there!

P.S. I saw your comment, Clover.... ITS NOT THE ***** talking! LOL Can't beleive you would suggest that! Shame on you!

Can you glitch there? I can do the obstacle fine, but glitching there saves time, so I usually do. I do jump/forward/and tap f9 key 6 times. Even though your jump/forward do not normally work together. I think using it with the f9 maybe just the thing, if not I hope someone has a suggestion for you.

Isn't the "f9" button for taking screen shots?

I'm sorry, I doubt that I can help you with your problem. Are you saying that while you are moving forward, if you hit the "Ctrl" button you do not jump? I'll have to test this out but as near as I can tell, most of the time I am heavy fingered on the forward arrow but whenver I hit the "jump" button I jump. I don't often hit them both at the same time and rarer still hit the jump before the arrow. For the big jumps, I press and HOLD them both together. You must have a WHOLE lot of fun in the mint if you can't get those two to work together. I hope someone can offer some practical advice.

F9 is used by some people instead of the Home key to cause lag. On my Desktop computer I use the Home key....but on my laptop Home doesn't work and I have to use the F9 Key.

Yes the f9 is used very similarily to the home key, however since it is making you glitch because of screenshots slowing you down I think it may work well for Gigi's problem. To hard to type out what I mean, but worth a try for her.

As Granny Pickles mentioned the f9 key works great for me too but
I do it a little bit differently I tap the f9 and then hold down my forward key
and tap on my home key. This will get me up the wall in the warehouse
going towards silo and will also allow me to jump up the wall while in the green stuff is too.
Gosh Gigi that is the pits you are having so much trouble. I will go with you so you can play around with the glitches.
We will get your flying across the gooey stuff before you know it!!!

Lets go ....Bring it on!

Do you have another keyboard you can swap out? I had a PC with a similar issue where I couldn't jump and turn (left or right) and the same time. I swapped out the keyboard and viola! It's the first thing that came to my mind when I read your post.

Thank you all for the ideas. I am going to try them all, one at a time of course. I really appreciate that you all took the time to help me with my problem.. I will post again and let you know if any, or all, of your solutions worked.

Anyone want to go to a mint??

Terrible Lag Issues

While I know that this won't help everyone, I noticed awhile ago that having your anti-virus being active while running Toontown will cause a considerable amount lag, especially in the Cog Boss battles.

Now, to note, when turning it off, don't just exit the icon in the system tray, right click on it, and disable active scanning.

Remember to turn it back on after you're done playing to turn it back on.

Hope this helps some people. It's not something that always comes to mind when thinking of the causes for lag.

It always works better for me when I run, then jump, instead of trying to do both at the same time. Kind of a running start. This especially helps me in the big gear room, but I think it would help in the paint room, too.

Good luck!

You can leave your anti-virus scan on, but don't let it scan all your program files. The anti-virus knows what is e-mail and messages as compared to information coming in via and for program operations so setting the options for e-mail and messages plus their attachment should allow for a lag free TT program up/download protocol. I use McAfee and it gives me this option, don't know about other programs such as Symantec's Norton Anti-Virus.
