I was really concerned with all the shuffling we saw in the lifts that went up before ours! It was ugly.
However, there was only one jumper on our lift and a toon quickly jumped in and filled that gap. Jan. 18, 2008 1500 CST 8/8 Danced for Doctor Drift Serenity 38 HW20 +*Demetrius 110 ND +*Super Boo Boo McGoober 64 CC *Wilbur McGargle ND +Clyde 81 CC *Silly Sally Sniffleflinger CC +Familiar 110 HW20 evina GH + Together in Cog Round * Together in Skele Round It wasn't the greatest run ever. Too much "well we can take out two cogs, so let's do it" for my liking, especially since lures were missing. Also, with 110 laff I can usually just stand right with the VP and take every jump and every bolt and still leave with most my laff, this time I had to call for a toon-up and 20 laff AND considered myself lucky to leave with 34 laff. We had to pie a few toons. BUT...it was a fairly quick run and everyone was nice, even the ones who wanted to keep trapping and pieing second cogs. All in all, I'd ride with you all again! Congrats! |

Alvin's Friday Date with Spunky Granny Twinklemuffin: part 1
Quote:
Forgive me Miss Flip for taking liberties with your report. All week Alvin and I had been out working our way up to this. We needed merits, we needed bux and we needed jury notices. And we were sort of dragging our feet as we were out of practice and courage after a long bout of real life. So we finished everything and found ourselves done in time for the first afternoon CFO run. We set up our sound recorder, rehersed our lines, put on a dry diaper, and made our way to the Cashbot HQ. So when we grabbed a name to teleport across the railroad yard, who do you think we got? Why, we got the cute little purple mouse dressed in white. Granny Spunky Twinklemuffin. She might be a distant cousin as I hear the Twinklestinks and Twinklemuffins might have crossed trails somewhere before way back in the past. But that was certainly long enough ago that I don’t worry about Alvin’s fascination with her. So we stood around and made small talk as the others arrived. The usual suspects were there. Witch Way, White Nights, Purr, Mr. Snappy, Bam Boo Cat, and bunbun who I think is part of the Iguanamama clan, and some other cute names such as Ella Vator and Pig Roast, eeewwww. I sort of decided I wanted to go in with Granny and she kind of encouraged that. Well, actually, she made it perfectly clear that I was going to wait for her. Then the appointed time came and the milling around area began to empty. I worried that Granny had fallen asleep or something. I was getting real twitchy but Alvin was not about to make a move without his friend. I would not be surprised to find out there was some kind of communications going on, that Alvin and I were not part of, concerning some kind of plan by Granny and her friends to make things exciting for us. Finally Granny made a move and transformed at the golden doors from a cute tiny purple mouse dressed in white into a stately giant of a Robber Baron. It was almost comical watching Alvin seeming to cling to her so as to not get lost on that long march to the elevator in his number cruncher suit. Finally at the elevator steps, another wait ensued. Alvin was like an unruly kid being held in check by a stern aunt. We wanted to go and the crowd was getting dreadfully thin! Finally Granny shoved Alvin forward and we boarded. First there were only three of us as Miss Flip Flipperfoot had magically appeared. My eyes strayed to the Hop off button even though I knew we would not use it. Alvin could not restratin an “Uh-Oh”. And then a couple more boarded and finally we had, as I remember it, a nice symmetrical six. The doors closed. About that time the funeral dirge sound glitch started and I though, how fitting. Alvin was sided with Granny and Little Fancy Pedalwhip and we began a fairly orderly battle using sound. But shortly, Alvin had a chance to whip out his bike horn and that may have caused the other sounds to miss. Thinking we had been hammered, Alvin selected lure and Granny sounded them. Turns out Alvin was the only one damaged by the undamaged cogs. But then we were ‘behind the power curve’ and were working hard to get things back under control. At a point that I thought it was over, a pair of 12s came out and we had an oops and dropped a piano behind the still lured 12. Was that a stinky move? I couldn’t believe the mild hits we were taking. Three and four damage for pity sake. I guess it was only half over because things went back to the full sets, first 10s, then 11s, then 12s. We ended up out of sound and I lured with the best of my remaining, a blue magnet. Granny called a train for them to catch and it was a joy to behold. Cog parts everywhere. The next set fell to my wedding cake. And then it was down to just 2 cogs, and we took pleasure in overkilling them. Once released from the dance we ran to the other side and found only two left over there. Miss Flip looked hammered, and Princess Rainbow Wonderswirl was somewhat the worse for wear. Granny and I hopped in to help them out with the already damaged final set. My sound recording revealed a lot of confusion on my part as to who we had lost. We were down to five and I had not heard anyone go sad. Remember, I still thought six had boarded! In retrospect, I am glad I did not know there were only five until the cog battle was over, and Miss Flip and Princess had certainly made a good accounting of themselves in the lop-sided battle. Then we were dropped into the CFO arena. When Alvin turned to see who he would be protecting he saw the crane position empty. Knowing full well he had to make Granny proud, he grabbed the controls and began to try to do something useful with the hateful thing. We had trouble picking up goons. But we did manage to get hits with the ones we did get. We did manage to not give the old cash register a helmet. And we did manage a couple of resounding safe hits. Granny, bless her little heart, protected us all from the goons. I have no idea how many cranes were manned, but there sure were a lot of safes flying around. Alvin got knocked on his hams only once by gears from the CFO. Granny kept the goons at bay. And suddenly it was over!! The buttons almost popped of Alvin’s vest he was so proud. We certainly hope he was of some help to the excellent craners who kept the old money box dizzy most of the time. The entire battle took 24 minutes with 15 devoted to the cog battle. The CFO battle lasted 4 minutes. Our reward was TOW 100 jb. Is it bad form to stink the little monkey clerk at the end? If so I will have to give Alvin a time-out. I was getting upset about the gag choosing too. At first I thought maybe everyone was lagging, but then I figured that we all waiting for the other toon to choose first. I'm sorry about that. I know at 110 everyone expects me to know what's going on and to make one of the first gag choices, but really this is my first toon and I've only done the VP these handful of times, so I defer to those of you who I know have been around longer. I think I need to be more confident and just choose lure immediately. It was an honour to run with you! I was pleased that we all made it through! |
