You cannot please everybody all the time. The purpose of every weekend every month marathons is not so that everyone can show up for all of them. Instead, make the ones you can, if you can't due to real life or other matters, then okay, so what... there's another one next month. I am not going to be able to make every marathon every weekend. I wanted to make the CJ marathon we had a few weeks back. However, due to real life I could not. No big deal. I will just catch the next one.

Keep the schedule like it is, it is just fine how it is. The ones that do not like it, do not have to come. It is going to be very hard to find a schedule that everyone is going to jump and down for. If you figure out how, then let me know, I wanna try it with my 4 kids, & see if it works in their real lives. As issues arise with the current schedule, changes can be made. Just because this is the plan for this month, does not mean that it has to be the plan from now on.

A universal start time is fine. I personally will not be playing in the wee hours of the morning. I might end up single if I did that. However, some may want to, and that is great. The schedule allows for that. Pup runs are great also. If you do not like the pup runs, don't come to them. If you are not a pup, or do not think you are a pup, then they are not for you anyway. Everything cannot be for everybody, all the time. I personally would love to help my youngest son go through his first VP battle; however, I think he is losing interest in the game.

Raiderfan... leave it just like it is. If people want to show up, then they can. If they are not happy with it, then they don't have to come. Nothing is stopping them from doing their own marathons. Sometimes, we stop remembering that it is a human on the other end of the name, that is taking time out of their day to come up with this stuff, and that they do not have to. So, thanks for putting together the schedule. Leave it or change it. I'll come to what I can. I won't be there for what I can't. No Big Deal. There's always next month, right?
Okay, I'm done.

I like the way you think, too. Well said.

Hey raiderfan I guess no one really cares about what it is you are trying to do for us. I for one truly appreciate what you tried to do. Shame no one else wants to really give any input as to what they think about this at all. Is it because its not truly accepted by the CCG leaders or members that these events would be happening through out the weekend and they think that this would distract from the CCG scheduled runs?

Oh well thanks again for trying since it seems to have lost lots of steam and they only sticky what they want. I see they unstickied the CFO marathon thread but kept the SOS and CJ threads stickied. I guess its who likes you and who you know that counts here. Not what you try to bring to the table to help make the CCG a little bit more fun for everyone especially since the summer is coming and we will have a lot more people logging on. Better luck next time, thanks again for trying.

I appreciate what your saying but lets not be too hasty about the matter. I have some faith in whats happening here. Now with not being able to flail goons or safes its gonna be the new topic of interest on the boards.

As far as these marathons I proposed if it loses steam and dies off then so be it. It was something I thought of just to make it a bit more fun for everyone and as you stated the summer is coming. I was only hoping to get the CCG backing and maybe have it added to our calender as an alternative to those that may want to battle one particular BOSS for the weekend.

I know when the pit or platforms fill up this summer and lag becomes an issue theres is these marathons that could have offered that alternative instead of someone with lag issues losing connection or just logging out and coming here saying sorry but they had no other alternative but to just leave and save everyone from the lag monster. But they in turn could get that back over the weekend marathon. I also know a few that will still leave to join the scheduled CCG run and return to the marathon afterwards. So I see no conflicts with the schedule there.

I see what your talking about the stickied threads but hey I don't have control of that there. Regardless what happens I am thankful to those who did offer up suggestions. Maybe theres still a little glimmer of hope left to get this off the ground.

I think you might find that the CFO thread was unstickied because it was an event that has ALREADY happened this past weekend. Most of the posts in it now are related to something over and done. Not much point having it stickied when its done and if you'd like to point fingers then point them at ME. I asked the mods to unsticky that thread as too many stickies causes clutter and takes away from our important sticky threads.

Feel free to contact me if you feel I was wrong to request this.

Why should one person be solely incharge of all marathons?
What about the effort that Sir Harvey has put into this VP marathon?
What about the effort that PFF has put into the CJ marathon?

What's the big deal about this VP marathon anyway? It's already set for this Saturday.

What's the big deal about PFF already setting a date for a CJ marathon on May 5th?

and yes, I understand raiderfan is putting in alot of effort, but let's give other's credit too, as we do him.
I saw this posted somewhere and would like to respond to this myself. I for one was not trying to put myself in charge of anything. I am not trying to take credit away where credit is due. Matter of fact I was the one who encouraged Sir Harvey to put together a VP marathon. So how am I trying to take charge of or credit from anyone?

As I stated before my intentions were to just simplify the marathon weekend runs by putting something like this together so that the who, what, when, and where questions would be answered before hand. and made easy and accessible for everyone. I am sorry I tried to make up something that would be fun and easy for all. Just so that no one had to feel obligated to set up something of maybe leave it up to someone else to set up a marathon.

I also would like to add this. It was a public post like this:
Quote:
Bucktooth-

Let's do this every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. Then, I just need to think of something for 2nd and 4th Sundays....
So, how bout we do one April 28th??? Sound good? You wanna be in charge??
and PM's that I got that all said whens the next one? When will you be setting up another one?

This is why I took it upon myself to test the waters and see what everyone else thought of the idea of an all weekend marathon hitting each boss on different weekends and making it so that everyone could have fun. But because it ended up looking like something this particular person didn't like he/she is encouraging others to run different marathons to their particular liking in which they are entitled to do so.

I was only trying to make up something fun for everyone, keeping everyones interests at heart from our children to us adults. I am sorry if you still think I was putting myself in charge. I was merely attempting to do what many people asked of me. If I hit some sour spots by attempting to do this then I am sorry for doing so and will gladly walk away from this and let everyone have their own fun. Sorry for trying.

All differences aside you know me better then that PIX why would you even think that I would do something so callous as you have accused me of? that really smarts!

Making progress

I think that a lot of progress has been made. My questions and concerns have been answered, as have others.

Let's keep this going forward and figure out the next step. Are we just going to try this schedule as it is proposed now? Can we set up a poll so that we can see how people like the idea? We have one weekend before the beginning of May, which would be a good starting place. We can poll over the weekend and start the next week.

We can always come back and modify the schedule as it goes along if we need to. We will certainly have to revisit when Boss comes out, so that will give us enough time to identify the rough spots by then. Looking at all the interest that has been generated so far, I think it is a go. I vote to move to the next step and try it out.

<snip> I think if these other people would voice their opinions about the whole thing it would probably make things flow a bit easier. Its as simple as this, if they don't like what has been brought to the table here then say so. If not that fine too. They are always entitled to run whatever marathon they want on any given day.

Even if they did so it would still add to the variety of weekend marathons and give people a choice as to what they may want to do. For example after a CCG scheduled run they can hop on say in Harvey's sos shopping spree and if they got a bit tired of that they have a choice of say joining whatever other marathon is in progress or whatever else they wanted.

I think what we have here on the table would be great to have going as proposed. Knowing when and where with no lapse as far as the frequency of the marathons being posted would be great. As I said if these others that are interested in running their own marathons would just add to the variety of options for the weekend.

What say you people? Do we put this up to a vote? Do we just run with it as is? Would be nice to here what everyone else thinks.

I vote for a poll. I love raiderfan's ideas. I would actually be able to make it to a marathon; I have missed sooo many. Thanks for the hard work put into your proposal.

Will it be a public or a private poll?
