CCG sponsored events are always supposed to follow regular CCG guidelines, no matter if it is a marathon/shopping spree, regular run, uber run, training run. It shouldn't matter if it is posted within the thread, though I try to remember to post it when I plan special events. CCG = CCG. If people want a no-rule marathon event, there are forums to post on TTC outside of the CCG forum. I still think this particular instance was a simple misunderstanding and 2 separate groups that happened to fall into the same district coincidentally. I was not at the run in question, but it is just my guess.

Regarding SF chat in boss battles (the original intent of this thread): I suffer from covered gag choices and lag while in VP but have never had a problem with covered gag choices or lag from sf chat in CFO or CJ. I'm not quite sure why, but if I'm in CFO/CJ and the other side has an extreme amount of sf chat, it all seems to flow to the side of my screen, while it all seems to flow to the bottom (covering gags) in VP.

Regardless of what I see on my screen, I know for a fact (due to playing 2 toons in both VP and CFO at the same time) that sf chat (and speedchat for that matter) appears in different places on different screens. My laptop sits on top of my desk and both share the same router, so it doesn't even matter what speed connection you have. Chat goes in different places, and we should all be mindful that what you see on your own screen is not what someone else might see.

I understand what everyone is saying and agree completely. I actually didn't realize there was a ccg scheduled marathon event going on. Most everyone I saw there from ccg were in the fast cfo races so thought that was what all of the familiar faces was for.
However all of that being said let me paint the picture Flippers is upset over to help give a clear picture. I popped on begging my teammates for the fast cfo team to help do some cfo marathons for the day to get a nice stock of TOW and to have my 7s and backup 7s ready. Woot everyone from my team who was on that day was up for it, plus a few sfs from other fast cfo race teams as well. It was a small group of my teammates atleast 5 or 6 of us plus whoever else around hopped in the elevator too. No shuffling, no hopping except when trying to buy time for an 8th to make it on the elevator.
Now here is the thing I don't get, we stood in a circle sf chatting until we had all arrived on the porch, then just ran on in when all of us were there. Flippers if you were unhappy about the sf chat then why continue to load the elevator with us each time that day? Why if it was bothering you? I just don't get that. Also why if you were under the knowledge this was a ccg marathon day did you do things like elevator hop? I just don't get this, I'm not trying to be mean at all here, but I'm frustrated it was just a very fun day with familiar faces, fun friends and I was enjoying the memory of how easy going of a day it was then to see you were unhappy about a small thing like sf chat on runs that were not scheduled ccg runs? 5 or 6 sfs on an elevator with 1 or 2 other high level suits, very familiar ccgers who would obviously have no issue with whether or not they could see the gag selections as by now your very seasoned player. Help me understand...had it been a small suit, unfamiliar face joining in I would of course thought of the sf chat being a problem of course.

Then again, guess we can't all blame it on toons lack of care for others, since this is something disney should fix.

If new toons to the CCG are using sf exessively in CCG runs, then I don't see any harm in bringing up the point, to remind them of such guidelines. Otherwise, they will probably never know.

My $0.05

These marathon runs are suppose to be fun. If you have to be quiet and sit in silence and only say something to give direction when one looks uncertain as what to pick then thats where the regular CCG scheduled runs come in. During these runs, Using spedchat phrases with others who are not SF's is fun even SF chatting when your with a fun group that you are SF's with is.

I never said I will use said chat to grief anyone. I never said I did. So dont put words in my mouth. Calling one selfish when not knowing or understanding what was intended by ones words is rude. I have been on many of these runs and recognize alot of CCGers that use speedchat and SF chat while on these marathons. Knowing that, I as well as many others continue to load together for the fun plain and simple.

But to publicly complain to draw out the so called offending toons is just wrong. Why couldn't this be handled in a PM? Why try to humiliate anyone? Lets be the adults and act accordingly. Im done here.

Because when you're chatting, you don't realise what problems you are causing.
This I the best comment I've seen in this string. I would make a slightly different suggetion.... Allow the chat just not show "Smith: quack quackity quack" , "Jones: squeeky squeek squeek" to anyone who's not an SF in Boss battles.

Well, lets not get extreme and say we shouldn't talk any at all during battles. But I believe we are referring to excessive use of SF chat and/or speed chat and any case, to use the bubble instead. At least, just until Disney fixes or remedy the problem of excessive chat blocking the other team.

I didn't say you would grief anyone.

From Scout's Mama's original post, I am not seeing her complaining or targeting anyone, but reminding us of the excessive speed chat or SF chat that causes problem for the other team. We all need to be reminded of the guidlines every now and again.

Anyways, think others have said much more and have added much value to this thread than I have.

I just wanted to mention that a particular three thuggers at the run were chatting the whole time, even when I asked them to stop... you know who you are!

I addressed this further in PM.

The point of the post is simply a reminder, this is not a ventilation duct thread.

Yes, sf chat does block the gag selections. For me though, it's no worse than speedchat and even the cogs speaking. I was in CCG CFO last night and there was a bit of speedchat that blocked the selections. It didn't really cause any issues for our side. I missed taking a screenie, but at some point even the cog attack speak covered gag selections on my screen. Guess I'm not one to be easily bothered, I just deal with it as one of those Disney bugs.

Many people don't like the sf chat just because it makes them feel "left out". Well, that is part of the game. I agree it's rude when people sf chat exclusively. I know I have a tendency to chatter a bit, especially on uber runs where the majority of the elevator is usually blue. I'm really clumsy with the speedchat and tend to slip and click on the wrong thing, it's easier for me to type "u lure" then to find "I think you should use lure" on my menu. I try to always throw in enough speedchat so that anyone not in blue knows I'm not trying to leave them out.

I think the main thing is, if someone says "Use the Speedchat" that should be clue that the toon is either having too many gags blocked or feeling very left out. Out of consideration, if you see that phrase, keep it down.

This isn't SF chat, but I sent this picture in to Toontown as a bug report.

I hope they choose to fix the problem we're having.

Been there ...

I saw it during a scheduled VP battle yesterday, I think ... or was it Friday. Oy! Time warp.

They were chatting constantly, first both were on my side. I'd keep putting a bubble on top of my head ... However, never speedchatting anything directly about it. They didn't get it. During skelecogs, they were separated ... which made it worse.

I'm guessing the same as some I've read above. They weren't really interested in coordinating battle strategy, just in chatting with each other. Which very likely means that they were just there, and not for our scheduled run.

When I do it, it is usually because I thought I was whispering to someone outside the battle. But immediately say Oops! Sorry!

Oh well.

To you who said it was a "little group of SFs", it wasn't. I ORGANIZED IT. I was at 6 Runs, and people were all "chat chat chatty" the whole time. It drives me insane. I felt VERY left out, and all the people there were not SFs. *rants and yells*
I'm done. ARRRRRGH! Ok, now I'm done.
Plus, it was a CCG organized event.

I'm not defending anyone. If you read this thread you'll see, but, people forget not everyone can sf chat. I don't think anyone intended to hurt your feelings. They just didn't use their heads.

Thank you to someone who PMed me an apology from that run.
Yes, it feels nerve-wracking when you are in a run with 3-7 other toons who are all sf. You don't know if they are talking about you negatively. I agree that runs would ...run more smoothly if we tried lessening the amount of sf chat we use.

AMEN BROTHER!!!!
There is ABSOLUTLY NO WRONG THING ABOUT BEING A NONSF!!!

And please people, be considerate. If a NON-SF friend starts talking to you, talk to them back, and don't sit on your little hiney going "meow meow grrr grrr"
Thanks.
