How to post a run report

I've noticed the same toons always take a positive spin on run reports and the same ones always take a negative spin. Sometimes when having a bad day, a positive person posts a negative report (done it myself) but for the most part, you can be pretty certain which toons are posting in a positive manner.

Unfortunately, I've recently been a part of a run in which the posted report was discouraging and hurtful. Nothing was said about my playing abilities, but the entire report was a complaint and we had a toon go sad, but no mention was given to the reason why the toon went sad, nor was there any mention of great teamwork (which we had). The report in question was posted before I even had a chance to post myself in a much more positive manner. Rather than pointing fingers at the individual, I've chosen instead to help out my fellow toons and give 3 examples of "good" posting for 3 types of personalities. I'm using my own toons in the run report (sad that between my own toons and my kids' toons, I can make a vp team on my own!) so as not to hurt any feelings.

For the Optimist:

+Dizzy Twinklemuffin 123 HW50
McZilla 118 HW50
-+Miss T. Fied 39 HW50
-Super Dizzy 72 HW14 -- F4'd to Save Merits
+Mousewife 79 HW19 -- F4'd to Save Merits
+Little Dizzy Twinklemuffin 111 HW39
-Sea Green Duck 36 CC1 -- Sad in Skele Round

+=together during cog round
-=together during skele round

We were the last elevator to leave. We waited a couple of minutes and finally boarded... unfortunately a toon walked in just as our doors were closing. Sorry about that.

Cog round seemed to be a breeze. We started out with LLKR but when we heard toons asking to go for same cog more than once, Miss T. Fied encouraged us to sound and was able to take out the largest cog that our sound couldn't kill. Didn't matter, because just as we finished, we ran over to the other side and found that teamwork had prevailed and they were dancing. A friend on the other side told me that originally a toon had been killing off a second cog even with a low laff present, but eventually got the hang of killing only one cog.

Skel was a struggle... Toontown again placed the 3 lowest laff toons on the same side. We hurried on our side with sound, but unfortunately we heard the sad bug hit Sea Green Duck at the same time Super Dizzy used a TOW TU phrase... must have been a split second too late. Sorry about that, Sea Green! I heard a lure miss on the other side and having angry skels awake, they always seem to go for the little guy. Heard a doodle on that side... it seemed to work because both survived long enough for us to finish and go help out.

Pie was a breeze... I was a little shocked to see the 39 laffer run around back and start close stunning, but later when I viewed my screenshot and noticed this 39 laff toon is a HW50, it made a lot more sense. The 3 star card must not have been enough for Mousewife or Super Dizzy to dance for and both alted as the vp plummeted.

Huge Congrats to Little Dizzy on her laff boost... just 10 more suits to go!!!

For the Realist:

+Dizzy Twinklemuffin 123 HW50
McZilla 118 HW50
-+Miss T. Fied 39 HW50
-Super Dizzy 72 HW14 -- F4'd to Save Merits

+Little Dizzy Twinklemuffin 111 HW39
-Sea Green Duck 36 CC1 -- Sad in Skele Round

+=together during cog round
-=together during skele round

After receiving encouragement from the uber on our side to go ahead and sound, we did so to hurry and help the other side, but they were dancing as we ran over. Skel placed all 3 low laffs on the same side... saw a TOW TU phrase but Sea Green Duck still went sad. A note to toons: by all means if you have low level lure, bring a few for emergency purposes, but please allow the bigger toons with maxed lure to use theirs, especially in skel. Red magnets typically don't work on a row of 4 level 12 skels. After our side finished up, we ran over to help the other side finish getting tooned up and kill the last 2 cogs. Pie was quick and virtually painless, with only one ghost jump. I ran to try to pie Miss T. after that jump but after she said, "No" I left her alone. Super Dizzy and Mousewife both alted as the vp was falling, and Little Dizzy received a laff boost in this vp. Great teamwork, all!

For the Pessimist:

**Note: my mom taught me if you can't say *anything* nice, don't say it at all. If all you are going to do is have one big complaint, simply post the statistics and leave it at that. You might even consider waiting a day or 2 and see if someone else on your run will post the results first.**

GREAT post, Dizzy! I couldn't agree more (I think our moms must have read the same book )

My opinion is that if there is a NEED to discuss strategy, do it in the general discussion thread (perhaps after sitting on it awhile to decide if it's REALLY necessary).

I really hope that most people on this forum read this, there are a few people here that could use a lesson in how to report a run without negativity.

What is appropriate?? Are we allowed to respond to the reports or is that a no/no? I did today, but I won't again if you want that in a separate thread.

Lol, thats funny....but true. As for myself i also noticed (more than once), when having a terrible run (such one where there is no teamwork, no fun and no luck and a glitcher) thats its better i dont report it or maybe a few days after.
You made a nice thread here and i hope many people will read it.

Yes it is appropriate to respond to reports, but since my response to the report that frustrated me would have been no better than the original report, I declined.

Seriously.... Discussion is part of the reason we post runs. We can learn from each other. The run we did today, for instance, had a few potentially unpleasant moments. I usually laugh those things off -- and did this time too, but if someone is frustrated enough to use some angry phrases, it's best to simmer down a bit before you post the run....or respond to someone else who posted. Most of the time we discover that what one person is convinced is griefing, gag working, shuffling, or some of the other things that get reported...is more often than not something else entirely.

We really need to cut each other some slack and...

above all....

remember.......

this is a kids' game and...

KIDS of all ages PLAY it!

This summer my kiddo has taken a renewed interest and let me tell ya...
a lot of the frustrating play is done by those young children who...
really don't know any better.
But they sure have fun...

All that aside...

Good Post Dizzy!!!!

On those lines, my daughter has a toon of her own. She is 4 years old and I will NOT work her gags or tasks for her because I know she needs to stick to TTC. My opinion has always been that a child should not have level 6 gags unless they know how to use them, and quite honestly they should stay in TTC if they are as young as my daughter, but unfortunately not all do. She frequently whispers, "You stink!" and "Act your age!" to me, and it is possible she does it to other people... if they were to stink her back, she just wouldn't understand, nor would she care, so I haven't worried about it too much. She is 18 laff with stinky gags and she knows to stay on the sidewalks and she's only allowed to fight #1, 2, or 3 cogs, and absolutely NO buildings!

There are some times I'm sure we have a child in vp and the best you can do is try to back up their gags and if there are sadualties because of that toon, unfortunately that is also part of the game.

Thanks for posting this. I want to start posting my runs more since I don't seem to run with others who do post. However, I am hesitant on what to say since I don't know some of the regulars very well or know if perhaps things I take as rude are personal jokes or something. I'll stick with the tips you've given and hopefully I will avoid offending anyone .

i must say that my 4 year old girl plays my toon and she stinks others with my toon cause she has seen it at ccg runs and thinks its ok. i have tried to explain to her that it is all in fun and not to do it when she plays any of our toons. and we all know what the end result of that explanation was...lol stinks for everyone..heehee

but, you have seen her play and i posted her storied fun in the vp. her wins and losses. even when she ran around the pie fight tooning everyone up.

but yes 4 r olds do make bad gag choices at times. i watched her on a random run and just let her play and because she dropped my piano on the level 1 cog instead of the level 12 these griefers stunk her and she stunk back they then tried to commit toon homicide by letting her sound by herself on 2 level 12 and 2 level 11 skelecogs and just laughed at her cause they all went after her but i was at 108 laffs then i was still there they continued to stink and would not toon her up

she was so upset cause she lured and they sounded with oogas and finished her off and would not toon her up. she was very upset i thought she was gonna cry. but i got friends together and went back to the vp and they help her to victory.

my point is think bout who is behind the gag selection it may be my 4 yr old or someone elses 4 yr old and back them up b4 you beat em up when posting
after that situation happened i know i will sleep on it b4 i post if i get bugged by boss battle play

good one <walks away and takes herself an appointment, persisting in illusion that it might help her>

seriously...well I think kids of ALL ages should be allowed to play any level toons, with and gags , and participate in any battles AND they should be allowed to make ANY mistakes, as it is one of the ways to learn about the game (as many other things in life)- through mistakes as well, unfortunatelly!

Of course some of those mistakes can cost some "green faces", of course best is when unexperienced players (not only small kids btw) are guided by experienced ones. In this case read: "by parents"...

Of course, we should all try our best when playing, especially when "good" of a team is involved, yet we should not be overburdened by a pressure of a "perfect play"!
