Help! My TT screen is black but I can hear everything going on in the background!

Just as the title explains, I opened limewire while I was playing and my TT screen went dark. I'm on the 8th floor of a back 9, and help ASAP will help greatly so I don't lose all that time I put into a back nine.

I'm really tired of this windows Vista.

Edit: Never mind. I just gave up. I heard the other toons wondering where I was with the question mark inflection in their voices. But my screen was not going to fix itself. I had to Alt-F4. I just wasted over an hour and 3350 stock options.

yeah that happen to me too. does anyone know if there is anything you can do to make it not happen or to fix it when it does... this is like the 3rd time for me....GRRRRRRRRR

oh yeah, that happens when im on my laptop. it says like disk driver stops working. the screen goes black, but u can still talk but u wont b able to see until u restart tt. dont worry it doesnt happen alot, but what cab ya say that vista.
p.s. i've rly havnt had alot of prbolems with vista.

That just happened to me a couple days ago. right after getting on the 7th floor I think it was. Screen was totally black, but yet I could hear the moles getting stomped, and here the toons talking. I waited till I lost my 20pts after they were done with the maze thinking I would get my screen back, but nothing. I heard the cogs and decided then to just leave. I'm glad I had a secret friend with me so I could at least type to him what was going on. I couldnt see what I was typing or see what he was saying back, but at least he could understand why I was leaving. It was real disappointing to get that far, then get no credit for any of it.

I know what you mean, it's sooo annoying. I think there is a way to turn it off, but I don't remember, sorry.

Sometimes this happens, and it can go away by resizing the window of your screen, if you are window mode. This sometimes works, in certain situations. Hope this helps!

This is what works for me at least. Get off TT and restart your computer. Then stay off the computer for 15 mins. for a rest. Then get back on. When you go on TT it will be refreshed. If it does it again it is because you don't use the same thing to get onto TT. Example: People use Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explore, Vista, etc.

Anything that darkens the screen and demands attention (such as Vista's User Account Control) will cause TT to do this. It's not a TT bug, it is a Direct3D bug, as it happens in ALL Direct3D games (I triggered it in another such game in its Direct3D mode, but not in its OpenGL mode).

While turning off User Account Control may help, it will not completely solve the problem because there are other possible sources of the screen dimming.

I have to admit I don't know what you mean by User Account Control. But it sounds like it could be what happened. I did open limewire when it happened, so I know something triggered the black screen.


I didn't realize this has happened to other people. When I signed back on after restarting, I didn't have the heart to get into another hour+ long back 9.

User Account Control is the name of the setting that causes Windows to prompt when a program needs your permission to run. I don't have Limewire, so I don't know its needs. Best advice is to be careful with what you're opening. Or if you do get this again, maximize and restore the window (this works 99% of the time for me).

I would have tried to follow their voices lol except my sounds not ever on! If you make it to the next level most times black screen goes away. Sorry this happened to you!
