Unhappy Bad bugs

I played a long time ago, and the game ran fine. Just came back to the game and see these problems:

1) If I die in a cog building with my husband, his toon automatically takes major point damage even though he wasent hit.

2) Horrible lag.

3) Count down timers running constantly.

4) Characters appearing as ghosts between floors, because they have become frozen in battle and cant get on the elevator.

5) Battles just freezing up...toons standing around not being able to do anything.

My husband and i have good computers...both computers are different brands and have different graphic cards...all other mmo's and mmorpg run fine except this game..we have good DSL.

It is a shame that the game has fallen into a laggy/buggy nightmare. I had hoped to stay for a long time this round, but these problems make the game run so badly that I cant see playing like this as planned.

I am sure disney is working on them..but the graphic problems and memory leaks etc..look like a build up over time...they really need to spend alot more time on these problems before it becomes an unplayable nightmare like Anarchy Online.

Sad seeing the game in the state it is in now.

Yes they do..it is getting so bad at times the game is almost unplayable when the servers are high.

Wonderful game but not worth paying for the buggy mess..

Actually pretty common in online MMO's unfortunately. The games run for a year or so then start to decline. Some games add content so fast they dont stop to repair the problems. This game I am not sure. It seems that they would notice the problems and do something about them.

The main problem is...

We tend to fall in love with online MMO's...you have to admit they are addicting. Often players wont complain for fixes because they are afraid the game may have to go offline for hours to fix things.

As strange as it sounds..that is so true...I have played them all, and talked to thousands of players in other MMO's. Years ago, I had to really stop and realize how I was sucked into the game 24/7 and have the courage to do something about it..sad but it happens.

Often players are willing to accept a game running in substandard mode because they dont feel :

1) They have the right to complain because the monthly cost is low. (So if they mess up the oil change on your car...you dont complain because it cost less than $20?)

2) They cant live with downtimes if they complain for fixes (believe me I have met way too many people who cant live 4 hours without an MMO running. I have seen so many parents who sit on the games all day while their young kids are being babysat by TV or whatever.

3) Alot of players become "super defenders of their super game!" and continue to wear rose-colored glasses to blind them from the reality of just how badly the game is running. They actually believe the game developers are praising their daily comments, and exhaulting their name and pasting it on some non-existant developer pegboard in the sky.

I love this game..I really do..but time to face a bit of reality and say...this game has gone downhill in the bug department.

They have done a wonderful job with adding things etc, but what good is it, if you die in buildings due to bugs..or have to wait for big gaps in freeze up time to pass?

Well lets hope that they fix the bugs, or more people gain the courage to speak out to improve this game that we really enjoy.

That had to have been the best post on this specific problem I've seen.
My sf and I have talked about this problem and you are right they wont be fixed until alot of people speak up. People get so sucked in to the game they become content with the problems and dont do anything about it.

The post comes from almost 8 years of playing every MMO, MMORPG on the market. (By the way I am retired..and not neglecting work or kids )

For example...talking to the same people for three years in Everquest (most MMO's and MMORPG have open chat unlike Toontown) I was just amazed how many would suffer through bugs simply for the reasons listed in the last post.

In one of the games I was CS in, I was amazed when I talked to several developers who had no clue about the major bugs in their game. Most of the developers and coders did not even play their own game. And the developers did not even recognize the names of the top players in their own game.

If I remember correctly, the option to turn off friend invites was not in the game at the beginning. A few of us stood up and said...hey can we get a button to turn that off?

AND GUESS WHAT HAPPENED..

We were flamed for that statement...

How DARE you ruin my 4 year olds fun by not allowing her to spam you for an hour!

It takes courage to stand up and make suggestions or point out problems, knowing you will probably get blasted for it

But sometimes it works out for the best.

On the GOOD side...

1) Nice additions to the game..the cog head quarters etc.
2) Nice to see new toon avitars to choose from.

On the BAD side....

1) Bugs and horrible lag
2) Poor planning on clothing (come on most shop clothing you can start with!)
3) I would really like to see level elevators in the sellbot headquarters etc...maybe one for toons 20 plus in laff only ...and allow some for all levels to enter as well. This would allow higher levels who dont want a 15 laffer jumping on with no gags and standing around...to enjoy their quest and have that option.
4) A new gag line that higher levels can gain would be nice....

How about a cold gag line? Throw some...

Icecubes
Ice cream cone
Snowball
Iceball
Snowstorm etc..

Or a Candy Gag line...

Bubblegum
Toss a candybar at them
Peppering a cog with caramel popcorn etc..
Dropping gooey taffy on them

I agree they should have like pajamas at ddl and so on and the abilty to buy shoes would be cool. I remember a glitch at ddl where one of the npcs had purple gloves that would be cool to purchase different colored gloves.

It makes me laugh they keep adding more stuff but never seem to fix the glitches at hand. I know some mmorpgs dont charge you money because they get their money from donation and are less glitchy.
Makes me woder what disney does with all that money I know if it was used all for toontown (The money we pay to play toontwn) it would be 30% better and alot of the problems would probably be gone.
