If you are on a slow connection, like our dialup account, then it takes a loooong time to download. Particularly the first stages of the download, where it is setting itself up for your computer.

If you can, leave it running for a while. Go off and do something else for 30 minutes. Then you should be able to notice some progress.

Yes it works fine now thanks for the help :-) although It wont let me log in now even though I created a character..but i only tried it once so it should be okay..alrite thanks :-)

Even after the initial download it will still be downloading the streets, neighbourhoods, etc. Our friends on decent broadband probably scarcely notice this. Sometimes it takes us a good quarter of an hour after the login screen shows before we can go anywhere in the game.
