Cog Building trouble

Both me and Dusty McGadget have been having some trouble with cog buildings as of late. When we're in a building, sometimes we'll select a gag, and then the counter will run down to zero. Nothing will happen. It just sits there at zero. You can even go back and select a new gag, but it still just sits there. (If you do this, everybody else will look as if they haven't selected anything.)

This never happened until either of us started working on lil' oldman #2. Is this happening to ANYBODY else?

Yes same thing happening to me. Started about two days ago with the update. Everytime it happens so far is when I select lure. Very annoying as I haven't locked/been kicked since 1.14. I bring out my other guy (Frizzy) and I don't have any problems at all (Frizzy doesn't have lure). The reason I am here and not playing is because that just happened with Lefty, exactally as you explained it.

I have bug reported it every time it has happened.

McPhooey and Bellota, can you and others who have experienced this please send in bug reports after this happens and before you log on again ? It is an extremely annoying problem.

Send your report from the play.toontown.com page where you select 'Report Problem'. If you use that form your installer log file is sent along with your report.

This was a bug in the early days of the public version of the game. It then disappeared but did indeed return on the test servers with the version that went public yesterday. A couple of us on test have had problems but we cannot find any similarities in our hardware setup. The more material the developers have to compare the better the chance they can pinpoint the problem.

Anyway, if it happens to you on the top floor of a building and you know the folks you are up there with you can wait until it's fair to assume they have cleared the cogs and are dancing. If you have one of the group on MSN or Yahoo so much the better. If you Alt-F4 after the last cog has gone you will get the credit for the cogs and the gags used and you will not get sad. Your company will see you dancing like a madman.

The reason I say you should only do it if you know the folks up there with you is that you will be causing a heck of a lot of lag to them. At the start of a 5th floor in DL that is very annoying.

This has been happening to me since the update too. I'll send a bug report. Very obnoxious because all my tasks are 4S buildings, and I've been kicked out trying to complete many of them. No offense, but I'm glad it's not just me.

Well guys just thought I would put in my two JB's worth!! My husband and I both have accounts and ALWAYS play together. Either on Granny Tooter Frecklefingers and Stinky Frecklefingers or with our other toons Prophetangel and Colonel Snappy Thunderfussin. We have encountered this same problem, with both sets of characters and would just like to share our following observations. Thought they might be of help since we run the 2 pc's and can see what is going on from both points of view at the same time

When you freeze in a bldg you may choose a gag and true you will not see the others selections. If you choose a gag that requires a choice of targets it will NOT go off. If you choose a gag such as sound, grp heal or a magnet however...these WILL go off.
Other toons do NOT see what you are saying either with speedchat or typed. If you stayed logged til the last cog on that floor dies you will get booted but NOT die. If your system boots you b4 the last cog dies then you will get booted and be SAD with all reprocutions thereof.

Not that any of this information can change the fact that this is happening to you but just thought I would share the info that we have gathered. If you are a true wizard maybe they can be of some help:P Otherwise just nice to at least know what is being seen from the others in your group if this happens to you.

Have a nice day!!

Rats!

I am sad to see this problem on LE. I had sent 4 or 5 bug reports when this was happening to me on the test server. I have not received a reply from Disney on this issue. I hope they clear this issue up soon, as it is very frustrating for all parties involved. Keep sending those bug reports, it can only help them solve this problem.

Happened again to me today, on the last floor of a 5-story bossbot building in DD. Fortunately, they must have cleared the building before I closed it down, because I came out of it with the experience and so forth, and one of my Toontasks completed (Defeat 30 Cogs in Donald's Dreamland). The important thing is NOT to close down until you're reasonably sure that they've beaten whatever floor you're on. If you close it down before, you'll log back on to 0 laff points and 0 gags. If they've at least beaten the floor, you'll hang onto all that, even if you don't get the experience from the gags you used.

Unhappy Counter Zero Game Hangs

I've had the same problem on the street and in buildings since the update on LE. Counter drops to 0 then the game hangs and I'm stuck. Sorry to anyone with me when it happens.

Not just a building problem. I do not so much street fighting so never had it happen on street before. Right after an invasion started got in a street fight and froze.

Ok, I've been monkeying with this a bit. It's very annoying, for sure. Fortunately I've not actually killed any of my friends, only myself. Here's my latest research:

I installed ToonTown on a different (older) computer. I had actually used this computer for 6 months of beta testing, and had no problems of this nature. However, with this latest version, I get the same disconnect problems. One similarity between the two, they both have onboard LAN (which I use) via the SiS 900 chipset. Tonight I've disabled the onboard LAN, and thrown in a Linksys PCI card.

I need to go play for an hour or so to see how it behaves. I'll give another update when I find out more.

/Edit: Ok, I played less than an hour with the PCI card installed. I did two buildings, and crashed in each one. I'd start with a fresh boot before launching ToonTown. I'm definitely pulling the card and trying something else tomorrow.

Problem Domino. This doesn't appear to be hardware related. Besides, any trouble via the internet would be felt in other programs.
