Exclamation I Can't Play!

HELP!!!!!!!! I haven't been able to play ToonTown for the last three days, grrrrrrr I am going through TT withdrawl SOMEONE HELP! Okay when I try to play it begins to do its whole updating toontown thing then sometimes it will freeze right there. But other times it will freeze while I am going to ToonTown. And its not just a memory leak type of freeze I cannot exit it at all and it never ever unfreezes so I have to shut down my whole computer by just cutting the power. And let me tell you it is soo annoying having to reboot your computer while you are compulsivly trying to play ToonTown. And it is also very very teasing when it will allow me to make it all the way to the playground or onto the street then freezing, I will never finish my toontasks. I really do not want to give up but I am really tired of rebooting. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing anything like this, you know then I would have someone who can suffer with me.

Gonna need a bit more information here, like details about your 'puter, maybe the toontown.log file, whether you're launching from the website or shortcut, full screen or windowed, menthol or filter tip, canine, feline, equine, bovine or leporidine.

in the meantime, you may want to launch via the OGL shortcut in the TTwindow.zip, worth a shot...

If any of the shortcuts mess you up, like the OGL one, you will need to reset it.

There are 3 shortcuts to set video modes: DX8, DX7 and OGL. Just run the "Toontown DX8" shortcut to get back to DirectX 8.

Also you can delete the user options file to restore Toontown to it's default state. The file is named "useropt" (note, no extension) in the Toontown folder ( C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\Toontown ).

Default for Toontown is DX8, they don't have DX9 yet. DX9 will handle DX8 just fine.

do you hear any sound when TT first starts? One day my box decided to not read my sound card...(gg SB) so basically TT would launch but when I went to fight a cog on the street it would just die because it didn't see my card. If you hear no sound at all when launching TT go to your control panel/multimedia devices and make sure a sound card is listed, not "no playback device."

Okay, for the last two days I have been trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with my TT. I did what you said and ran it from different short cuts. Yesterday it worked fine from the OGL shortcut but I couldn't play long cause I had to do some work. But today I have spend quite some time working to figure out whats going wrong (mind you I am somewhat computer challenged when it comes to compicated terms but I do catch on quickly) and I have tried EVERY single short cut and they have all been freezing. And I have been running TT windowed so I could watch the Configure box to watch for anything suspicious. Here are somethings which I don't know what they mean but don't seem to mean that things are fine and dandy.

Client Respository <warning>: Disable failed; Dist Obj 100005406 is not in dictionary ( that same message came up with the numbers 101009828, 101275818, 101448464)

:dna<error> : unable to find baseline font suit

Loader<info> : At end of block 'hood', expected 7 loaded 1

Then it froze, I was just standing in the playground, and the music began to repeat but only like two notes of it were repeating then a few min. later a new not would blast through then join the repeating ones and that lasted untill I turned my computer off. I couldn't get the computer to respond to any keys on the keyboard or the mouse. Before I shut the computer down I noticed small bright green lines at the very top of my monitor. They were vertical and I don't know when they appeared. I left my computer on while being frozen for about 15 min.

I am running out of idea's and I hope to get some help here, a friend has suggested that I just uninstall TT and then re-install it. I just wanted to talk to everyone here first cause you guys have really helped me and I don't want to uninstall if that will make things worse or something. Sorry for the length... YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!

Time for a Reference Install update

Okay, I'm gonna make up a Reference Install for the current version of Toontown LE (Open).

This will take about an hour, and while I'm at it I'll add an item to the TTwindow.zip to reset the game to it's original state.

Check back in an hour or two, I'll post in the News on the front page when it is ready to download.
