Can't complete toontask = stuck toon!

A friend of mine is working on her last toontask in Donald's Dock. All she has to do is deliver a squirt (glass of water, I believe) to Prof. Pete. However, you go to Prof. Pete and all he does is say, "Hi, come back and see me when you need a new task!" (or something like that). Likewise, visiting an HQ officer results in "You must finish your current tasks before getting any new ones." She does have an open task slot, but since this is the last one on Donald's Dock, I think it expects her to complete it and move on. But it won't let her complete it. She's sent a bug report, but no word back.

Anyone run into this before (I think I've heard of it, but I can't find anything) or know of a work around? And any good way to relay that work around to a toon through the chatter? Thanks!

It may be asking for a gag of a level she does not possess yet. Confirm which specific gag it is. If she doesn't yet have that gag, she needs to continue to use squirt against the cogs until she obtains that gag. Then she can deliver it.

The same thing happens for throw in MM. If you choose a task with Tom Tom's Drums, you will need to already have the cream pie (level 5 throw) to complete the task.

You also need to make sure that if she does have that level gag, that she actually has purchased that particular gag at the gag shop and has it in her inventory.

Doesn't she also need to click on the gag? Or can she just walk up and the toon automatically takes it from her?

I forgot about the Tom Tom Drum needing a full pie but thank goodness I was only a couple hundred away from getting one

As long as you have the Gags in inventory the NPC will accept them to complete the Task.

Make sure you have enough of the Gags in inventory, if he wants two, he won't accept only one.

Back on topic, thanks to all for the suggestions. I know she has up to L4 squirt. I've even run with her to buy squirt gags. I clicked on her to see her gags, and it doesn't show she has any glasses of water. Perhaps I'm giving her too much benefit of the doubt, but she seems to be reasonably intelligent throughout the rest of the game. But thanks, you have given me at least one idea for helping her out.

Straying from the topic yet again, I know all too well the joys of that Tom Tom's task. I chose that as one of my first when leaving DG. ("Woot! Carry 40 gags for a simple delivery!") Little did I realize I was 800 pts away from where I needed to be. Ah well, it brings back memories of the beta where I had to deliver a storm cloud, foghorn, b-day cake, and piano (3/4 were at the same time...though I can't remember which) and odds were it was a for a reward I couldn't use.

Hey, thanks to all you helpful toons! I'm not sure how or when, but I logged in lastnight to see my friend had progressed past the stuck point. This after about a week of not going anywhere. I don't know how the matter was resolved, but it is. The best part is, she has upped her laffs which lessens the danger of some of the buildings we had been in.

Oh, and I finished my Tom Tom task! But now I must work hard on my squirts, to preserve the precious balance. ;-)
