lure/throw not giving 50% bonus damage

Lately I've seen several occasions where a successful lure followed immediately by a throw/squirt has NOT given the usual 50% bonus damage. That can make a 5-story building a sad experience ... but usually we rise to the challenge.

Is this a bug?
Or is there some other factor causing us to lose out on the bonus?
Perhaps it's intended to be like squirt -- highly reliable but not 100%.

Please advise before I get someone killed!

There is a Lure Bug.

When you lure Cogs that are reinforcements, they may not act as if they have been knocked back when hit. They will stay in the Lure position, and not get the Lure Damage Bonus.

Often (but not always), this will only happen until you kill one of the reinforcement Cogs. In other words, concentrate on one Cog until it is dead, and the others usually will get the damage bonus.

Usually, if there was only one reinforcement, it will not be bugged i.e. it will get the knock-back bonus.

It's not all bad, though. If someone is trying to build Drop, they will get a guaranteed hit if they have dropped on a Lured Cog that got hit and not knocked back. Only in that first attack round, though. So, you can't exploit this solo.

My Mood:
Quoting a 100 LP'er ...

Months ago Skip (one of the first to 100 LP in this version of the game) answered this query. I saved his response, but dont ask me where the original thread is (Tips and Tactics mayybe?):
Quote:
Here is what I have noticed for the No-Knockback Bug....

Occurs in a building when multiple cogs come from the elevator.

If 2 cogs come from elevator, you WILL get the knockback bonus on the second cog - but only after the first of the two has already been defeated.

If 3 cogs come from elevator, you will only get the knockback bonus on the final cog -- but can also get knockback on left & right (of the set of 3) Cogs AND you defeat the center cog first.

If 4 cogs, you can get knockback on 2 of the Cogs by first defeating the cog that is standing next to another cog. So, killing off cog 2 lets ya get knockback on cog 1 but not on cogs 3 & 4. Can kill off cogs 2 & 4 to get knockback on cogs 1 & 3. Or kill off cogs 2 & 3 to get knockback on cogs 1 & 4.

Confusing, right?

To sum it up, just remember that you can never get knockback bonus from multiple cogs that come from elevator that start out next to another elevator cog -- and will always get the knockback from the last remaining Cog to come out of the elevator.

Knowing when you will or wont get a knockback bonus can help to stretch your gags, as well as to increase your chance of survival.

Hope this helps,

~ Skip ~

This bug is NOT limited to elevator-spawned cogs.

I have seen it in every aspect of the game, including cogs on the street, cogs in buildings, and the static encounters within Sellbot HQ including The Boiler Room, The Warehouse, and all three Silos.
