Starting Up Problem with my DSL System

I've posted about this in another thread, but I've made some interesting discoveries today.

I ran ToonTown just fine at work on my dialup system. Windows 2000 based.

Home system is also Windows 2000 based but on DSL through an SMC Barricade Router. I get to the ToonTown Online Graphics screen (with the clouds and the progress bar) and it stops there.

After experimenting with trying to run OpenGL (no dice - just errored out) then trying Windowed mode it actually brought up the Loading... progress bar but stopped after about a 20th of the bar filled.

Subsequent experiments repeated this. I have no idea what it means.

Here are my logs. Installer log, error log. I hope someone has an idea of what's wrong.

Since you posted this under "Beta Bugs & Stuff" I'm assuming you're trying to launch the test version. BUT - since the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of both pages points to the same contact page, be sure to specify which version you were trying to launch when you send your info to Disney at this address. I assure you, they'll be fast at responding, but I'm not sure about Sundays

I use SMC Barricade no prob but found this!

in your post the following may be a clue...

Internet connection is through a LAN
found potentially troublesome installed program: LiveReg (Symantec Corporation)
found potentially troublesome installed program: LiveUpdate 1.7 (Symantec Corporation)
found no http proxy, assuming direct connection

First It could be that you have a virus scanner running that in interfering. I use Symantec too and in some installs the auto protect on the virus scanner can cause problems with downloads. Try disabling auto protect and then install.

Next I also use the SMC Barricade and try some of these settings.

I disabled DHCP and set a fixed IP for each machine and and also set the default gateway to the ip address of the router. In this case 192.168.123.254

To help rule out a router setting you can temporairly turn on DMZ and set it to the IP address of the machine your installing to.

ooo-kay...

UPDATE: The Reference installs are online & available for download now.

Just unzip the appropriate install to it's folder, and launch with one of the shortcuts. Default if launched via the included "Toontown" shortcut will be Windows / DX8.

For the Limited Edition / Sneak Preview / 1.4.7 Toontown, the folder is:

C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\Toontown\

For the Test / Beta3 Toontown, the folder is:

C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\ToontownTest\

These should fix about 95% of the problems with running the game, as long a you don't have a problem that will stop you from running Toontown at all. Use them as a last resort, however. Make sure that Disney is aware of the problems that you had, so that they can have a chance to fix it.
