had this myself a while ago. re u using a laptop cos i was and it was overheating due to the nature of the program using lots of memory. Its either that or a memory problem you need to look at. You could do with at least a gig of ram for game to run smooth. Hope this helps

Yes, I am on a laptop. Perhaps that is the problem. Any way to fix it? Thank you so much!

I have a brand new video card (Radeon x1600) and over 2BG of memory and I still get the shut down problem. Tried direct x vs 8, 7, and ogl modes with similar result. Drivers are curent too =/

I've been told to avoid going to the garden that it makes it much worse.

There are 2 possibilities, dust in your computer or a bad RAM chip. Try cleaning out the dust with canned air first. If that does not help, then please post in the Computer Technical Support forum and people can guide you in checking the RAM integrity.

Considering you're on a laptop...

Make sure wherever you're holding or placing it, the fans have enough room to work. For $20 you can buy aluminum pads for under your desk/lap that help disburse the heat.

It could be a graphics driver (I hate to say it; but it is possible)...

Does it happen randomly - or is it often at a specific points?

For example, if there was a certain cog on the factory silo - one of their attacks used to trigger a crash/shutdown for lots of people

Thumbs up

Thanks, I will try all those. It makes sense because it does it real bad when I'm in my room and have the laptop on a pillow on my lap. Thanks guys for all your suggestions.
