Please Please Please - Gag choices in Cog Courses

Ok, i went in with three people who looked like they had full gags on a back 9.

I'm not trying to tell anyone how to play, but this really does help. I go in with 50-55 gags max.

If you use a fog on the first set of 3's and a creme pie, you would have 78. On cogball, you get a firehose and a magnet. Umm.. third puzzle, you get a fog horn, guess what, you don't...

We ran out of fogs and sound options at the 4th or 5th hole. I can usually sound/fog almost the entire way through if at least 2-3 people don't come in with full gags.

I am not against being more creative than sounding, but man it sure does make the already 1:15 course run faster.

How many times have you used seltzer or 1 ton or quicksand. And if you did, just to prevent overkilling, were you out of creme pie or cake or trap door? probably not.

If anyone cares.. i carry,
Gag L4 L5 L6
TU 0 7 3 - and i leave with 10-14 chacha's - i use maybe 2
TR - don't have - would carry top two tho, maybe 3/2
LU 0 7 3 - and leave with 7-10
SO 3-6 7 3 - and leave with just enough to finish
TH 0 4 3 - and leave with 2/7 on the bottom two
SQ 0 2 3 - and leave with 4/7 on the bottom two
Dr 0 0 3 - and leave with 0, no refill, i'd rather add on to the hit than make people think i'm working drop for no reason, no need for +60

So.. easy to finish easily if you don't bring 80/80 in.. i usually have 65-75 when i leave, so i still fill up after 9 puzzles.

I also back out of the puzzle when i have three fogs and say, i have enough gags, so everyone else can fill up. I can half usually and don't wanna hog.

I think I carry 67 gags

3 juggle, 7 dust
2 tnt, 5 doors
Lureless
3 fog, 7 ele, 10 aoogah
3 cakes, 7 cream
3 storm, 7 hoses
3 piano, 7 safes

I also look at my sound gags just before I go in the ball game and see what I need to top off...Soon as I get those I stop solving puzzles in hopes that the other toons will get sound gags. I still play just try not to solve the puzzle and I pay attention to the timer just in case it gets to low. Thats never been a issue, everyone seems to do them pretty fast.

I bring all the level 6's(Dur)

Elephant trunk - 7

Ahooga(sp?) - 10

Along with a few other level 4 gags.

And another thing to add to this thread about gag choosing...

DON'T USE ELEPHANT TRUNKS ON THE SECOND SET OF THE FLOOR. ALWAYS AHOOGA.

I never even thought about this. I'm so used to making sure I have full gags. This makes alot of sense when doing the back nine. Thanks for the tips on what gags to carry and how many to carry. I'll have to try this tonight since I'm working on 23K again.

You are a genius!! I come with 58 gags...

All level 6's

7 trunks, 7 anvils, 7 cream pies, 7 hoses, 4 $1 bills (but they're organic) , 2 pixie dust, 3 flower pots, 2 Squirt Guns, and 1 lipstick for 1 lucky toon each run.

This seems to work well so far. My average run time on the back nine is just a few minutes under 4 hours and i will be moving out of my Flunky suit any time now.Also most toons who run with me seem to love me, although some seem especially concerned with my hygeine.

On a serious note...I would add one thing to the OP. If you are going to Use a gag Unite (Gag-up All or Gag-up Sound) or a similar SOS card (Prof Pete, or Wavers). Do so immediately AFTER you defeat the 10s and BEFORE you go to cog ball. This way all toons are depleted of gags and you can get the full benefit of the Gag-up. I had a toon yesterday who called Wavers into action at the 11s after we did cogball and I had 79/80 gags. As a result I only got 1 fog from the the Wavers.

Lets see, i go in with 50-56 gags.. after 3 floors, someone doesn't plan right and ... i come out with 15 trumpets and 15 aaogahs.. and my cogball strategy doesn't work anymore..

Had a group of sf's and someone did that with lure.. almost x'ed them.. almost..

Unites happen, sometimes they are useful...here are some examples:

1. 1 or 2 toons disco during the course

2. The horrible lag causes many fogs to be wasted because we never know who's choosing what.

3. It seems that sound misses quite a bit more regularly in the cog courses than normal.

4. Some overzealous yet aged and memory deficient player (aka ME!!!!) forgets to gag before jumping on the cart.

Thus, there are some occasions when, for the sake of going faster, a unite or Melody Wavers may be more beneficial.

My list, going in as a lureless toon, is pretty simple. I usually start with 58 gags and somehow manage to still get a handful of marbles and way too many seltzer bottles by the end of a Back 9! =/ For the most part though, if the entire group goes in with similar gag bags, we will be able to get the "right" gags from cogball, so that our runs don't last longer than they need to!

All level 6's, plus...

TU: 2 pixie dust, 2 dancing canes, 2 lipsticks
Trap: 2 trap doors
Sound: 7 eles, 10 aoogas
Throw: 7 cream pies
Squirt: 7 firehoses
Drop: 2 safes

Wow, ya know, it never occurred to me to go in with less than 80. Not saying it doesn't make sense, but here's what I do.

TU: 4 canes, 5 pixie, 3 juggle
TR: 0 sand, 3 doors, 2 TNT
Lu: 4 mags, 5 bills, 3 goggles
So: 12-15 aoogah, 7 ele, 3 fog
TH: 0 lvl 4, 7 cream pies, 3 Bdays
Sq: 0 seltzer, 7 hose, 3 clouds

And one each of lipstick, megaphone and feather (for fun, if I am with friends - I love telling jokes!), with various level ones of sound throw squirt and trap.

I rarely use fog on the first set, unless I am with all droppers (we have a group that does 2fog+ele on the 10s, one person drops the v2 - we do this until sound is getting low or drop gags run out)

and I rarely run out of fog. The only time I end up at the pres with less than 2 fogs is
1) lag or bad strategy has made it so that sound was overused
2) some yokel who just loves to show his prowess on cogball solves all the puzzles as quickly as he can, and smiles that he is full on fog (as well as 10 sand traps)

I too try to keep an eye on what gags I get at cogball, and take my time solving the puzzles if/once I have full fog.

granted, most of the time I have to ditch a few canes and sandtraps when I regag, and try to ditch any level 4 throw/squirt I get while killing the 10 skeles, but like I said, I have never gone in with non-full bag, and rarely run out of sound.

WoW!! You all certainly have it together!! .. I just grab gags n go! hehe.. What happens happens and try to have some fun in between... Maybe someday I'll have it down to a science like yall do.. but for now, you open my eyes and have me thinking (OUCH that hurt! LOL) But seriously... Thanks.. I just came here today.. so..
