Gag packing and selection suggestions for long cog courses

Just a few quick suggestions that I think are important enough to mention for the Middle Six and Back Nine.

First and most important is to pack several aoogahs. At least 10 if you're going in a Back Nine. Use the aoogah's for the sets of 11's and save your trunks for the 10's. Two fogs and two aoogah's will take care of the 11's just as well as two fogs and two trunks.

Second is to pack less than a full pouch (trust me on this!). Cut down on some toon-up gags and lower levels of everything. Pack at least 10 less than a full bag. This allows room for some of the cogball gag prizes and leaves more room for potential fogs.

Third. When you notice you have ample fogs and others are out, pass some in the cogball game to let others have more of a chance of earning some.

Fourth is when using gag up all's, gag sound and professor pete. I learned the hard way on this. Wait until the last cog is standing in that round. This ensures each toon has room for the gags, especially those precious fogs. Only use gag all's or gag sound. Unless a special circumstance, don't fill the teams gag bag with gags that may not be that important.

So far doing this I very rarely run out completely of fogs and trunks (only if sound misses a lot) and my runs have been pretty darn quick with toons doing similar. Have fun!

I'm soundless so losing elephant trunks has never a problem for me, or my team. However, this tip seems pretty reasonble for a full sounding team!

I agree on this one! Not only does it help when using a gag sound, but it also gives the chance to gain back fogs on the first few sets!

Third. When you notice you have ample fogs and others are out, pass some in the cogball game to let others have more of a chance of earning some.

So you're saying, since I can never get fogs, I should pass on all, or most of the cog ball games because I'm a soundless toon? Well, I agree! Which is why I play an average of one or zero games per round! It gives the players without fogs a much better chance to win them back.

Fourth is when using gag up all's, gag sound and professor pete. I learned the hard way on this. Wait until the last cog is standing in that round. I don't know how many times I have seen someone gag up a sound right after cogball! You would think if someone made the mistake once they would learn from it! This is not the case though! I have seen some of my friends do this two or even three times! For me, where sound is very important and limited in a Back Nine. I usually just wait until after we danced in the level ten cogs to use a unite.

So far doing this I very rarely run out completely of fogs and trunks (only if sound misses a lot) and my runs have been pretty darn quick with toons doing similar. Have fun!

My team does run out of fogs a lot, mainly because of me!! However, these definatley make them last longer. I'm really glad you posted this because these are the stragetys my friends have been using since the beginning and it has been working out great for them.

You know, I was only thinking of sounders when I made this thread (my bad!), but I'm very glad you commented and agree!

Yeah, I've done it twice now. Once with a Prof Pete and one with a gag-up sound. Boy did I feel foolish. I blame it on the mind-numbing endless moles and mazes that make all logical thinking cease to exist. LOL

I guess I should have clarified and said that it works out awesome if everyone is following these rules to a tee, and if everyone is a sounder (although I do love going with soundless). If the team has to compromise because another player snarfes the cogball puzzles or trunks often on the 11's, you can run out very easily, no matter how well thought-out your plan is.
