What to do after "New Record"

What do I do after I get a New Record but NOT a New Species. Do I keep on fishing at the same dock or do I keep switching piers everytime I get a New Record? I'm only 9 fish away from getting a laff point. Please tell me what I should do to get a new species quicker and effectively. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

there isnt a way to get new species faster. As long as you are fishing in the right place then the fish that you want will come eventually. Sometimes it takes just a little time and sometimes it takes longer. BTW why should you move to a different dock after getting a new record?

It MAY seem like it's not a lot...Trust me...Do something else if you can...Race, Cog HQs...something. It's not just a day's work to get those last 9 fish...So yeah, good luck...and FYI, switching docks DOES NOT help your chances of getting the species faster... HAPPY FISHING!

Switching docks increase or decrease chance of new species?

I thought it would increase your chances because I saw two toons switching docks every one to three buckets. That was about how long it took me to get a New Record.

I already have 20 trophies. I only race on Monday for the tournament trophies or if one of my friends asks me to race. I've been defeating factories and mints for a long time. One more time I defeat the C.F.O. I get another laff point. I would like to catch all seventy species because I don't want to worry anymore about going fishing.

The choice of pier doesn't seem to have any real effect on what you catch, though some offer easier fishing than others.

If you see me hopping from one pier to another, making a lap (or two, or maybe three, or maybe more!) around a pond, well, I'm doing it to help keep track of how many buckets I've done at that pond... nothing more.

If you're trying to catch new species, new records don't matter unless you want more jellybeans. Some people have taken years to fish out the last species, some have tooken minutes. I'm pretty sure it's just by chance. I only fish by jellybeans and by luck a new species pops out if I fish long enough.

Is fishing non-stop for 30 minutes enough to get a new species. I'm not the type to fish for an hour everyday. I fish everyday before I log-off.

New Record means that that is the heaviest fish you caught and nothing more. I had a record 4 lb nurse shark until I got better pole and then broke my record for the nurse shark many times after that. Some docks are easier for people to judge distance. The theory is that if you fish a lot you will increase your chance of getting a rare fish. I think you sometimes seem to hit streaks of great fish followed by cheap fish.

Most important is to watch for the bounce when you cast. If the line lands then bounces you will not catch a fish.

You need to fish on each street and your estate. I was stuck with less than 30 fish then went out to Donald's Dreamland and picked up a whole bunch of new fish like the moon fish. I went to another pond and pick up a 3 new pool shark species.

Fish for Holey Mackerel at your estate on Bingo Wednesday. Best way to get it without too much fun.

Old King Crab is sometimes not too hard to get, but you do have to fish at that particular pond.

As for the rest... GOOD LUCK! I have caught All-Star on a Toon within 5 to 10 buckets of starting fishing... and not at all on any of my other Toons.

The long and short of it is that it does seem to be a matter of luck, other than picking the appropriate pond for the fish you seek. I still have several species needed on Troubles to round out his 70, and (other than perhaps this weekend, during the fishing tourney) probably will not spend more than an hour on fishing during any day. I could get lucky and nab those fish, or I might go months without 'em. Kind of a bummer, but that's the way the game works.

I will try my best to fish for the Old King Crab. It's just hard to get it because the pond is so big and it gets so boring fishing by myself.
