You can catch a devil ray with a twig rod. But an ultra-rare fish like the devil ray takes an average of perhaps 10,000 fish or more to catch. This means that somewhere out there are a couple toons who caught it a few minutes after they started fishing, and they post in threads like this saying "The Devil Ray (or Grand Piano, or whatever) is really easy to catch". And there are a few hundred other toons cringing when they read this because they still need to catch a Devil Ray after catching 100,000 fish.

If you are really lucky, every fish is "really easy" to catch. But it seems like such a shame to waste that luck on fishing in Toontown when you could be using your luck to buy winning lottery tickets.

P.S. My big toon has a gold rod and no Devil Ray. Could you tell?

Being at 20 species, those 9 fish won't be that hard...unless you have a good rod, try buying a new rod or keep at that one in different playgrounds. =)
I'm trying to get to 30 species on my newest toon, keeping the twig rod, so far, I have 24, almost there. =)

I have a gold rod and still need 9 fish. I've been fishing in Lighthouse Lane for the Old King Crab but still haven't caught it.

Your right. A few lucky toons get a fish that is hard to catch fast. I think it all depends what fish you'll get at a certain time. Unfortunately, I'm one of the toons that fish for a while and have no luck catching a new species.

I can't believe I didn't get 1 single new specie after fishing for 1 whole hour. I was fishing in Lighthouse Lane in search of the Old King Crab for 40 minutes but didn't have any luck. Then I went to my estate and fished for 20 minutes in search of the 3/9 species possible to catch. I've been fishing for a while and haven't gotten a new species. Is there anything I'm doing wrong. Everytime I go fishing in Lighthouse Lane I have a chance to get 4/9 fish that I need. The other day I went fishing in Minnie's Melodyland for 5/9 possible new species for 45 minutes and didn't catch any new species. Hopefully I will get a new species before school on Monday. Can someone give me tips on how to catch the last 9 fish I need to complete my fishing album, fishing trophy gallery, and get 1 laff point? Your help would be very helpful to me. Thank you for taking the time reading this.

The devil ray is easiest to catch with twig and gold rods. Not too bad on steel, but bamboo and hardwood doesn't seem to do well.

It doesn't seem easy to me. I've been fishing for a week for this fish since I can get it in any pond. I was trying to get this fish in Lighthouse Lane and in my estate. Which pond should I fish at to have a good chance catching the Devil Ray?

Don't want to discourage you but it took me like one and a half years to catch the Devil ray. I just got one last week in daisy gardens playground. I thought I'd never get one. My oldest toon still doesn't have it. look down at "wooooohoooo devil ray!" to see me in all my glory!! And true dat, the bamboo isn't worth the JB's it costs.

It's okay, you won't discourage me. No matter what I will still try and try again until I complete my fishing album. Although, I still need 9 fish to catch.

It's been caught most in TB and DDL ponds.

I read this thread and decided to go to Lighthouse Lane with my twig pole and see if I could catch a devil ray.

I had a shopping list and figured I would park and wait for cogs and fish.

I needed 2500 JB or more, glad handers, downsizers, and to max out my gags.
The most important was getting my 40th fish.

After an hour of slowly making a profit and doing in an occasional cog I got me a captain cutthroat trout that was 27 lbs. I then later caught a smaller one.

thank you for getting me my 40th fish. I would not have gotten it without your information on lighthouse lane. I do not recall ever fishing there.

Congradulations and your welcome. I'm glad that I made this thread but we should really thank Batleth for making The Fishing Guide (updated Aug. 26, 2005). It showed me where to fish for a specific specie. Thank you Batleth!
