It's just plain LUCK everyone!

I fished for 17 hours straight yesterday in an attempt to catch at least ONE of the last 2 fish I need. Well unfortunately I didn't get either one. I've been fishing every day for the last 5 months for these 2 last fish and I know that I have caught a LOT of fish in that time. After yesterday I started to wonder if the fishing task is truly luck after all. Today I engaged with a live chat representative at Toontown and this is how the conversation went:

The initial submission was :
I know you can't tell me how the fishing game works but....can you at least tell me if it is a cumulative bucket or fish count that determines when the next fish is caught? If it is simply random or luck then it would be posible that some toons would never catch all of the species. I can't believe that Disney would design a kid/family game that would not offer equally attainable goals for all players. I have been fishing daily for 5 months now to catch the last 2 fish (Full Moon and Grand Piano).I fished for 17 hours straight yesterday (almost 8,000 fish) and that was very dificult to endure. When you fish all of the time, you exclude yourself from playing the game of Toontown and interacting with your friends. If I know that(like racing) you have to catch a certain amount of fish (or racing trophies) to get the next reward, then I will keep fishing. If it is random or luck, I will not waste any more time on the fishing task. I simply refuse to spend so much time on a task that I may never be able to complete. Please help!

SERVER:Customer is waiting for Response...
ROBERTO:Hello Doug
DOUG:Hi Roberto
ROBERTO:It is a weighted random game
DOUG:Can you explain?
ROBERTO:With more fish more likely to be caught in certain ponds, with certain rods, or wiht certain weights.
DOUG:So I need luck to be at the right pond at the right time?
ROBERTO:Pretty much.
DOUGo districts make any difference?
ROBERTO:Little if anything, but that is not something I know.
ROBERTO:I would suggest fishing in the 'harder' neighborhoods.
ROBERTO:Like the Brrrgh
ROBERTOr Dreamland
DOUG:I live in Donalds Dreamland with a gold rod
DOUGo certain species get released at certain times of day?
ROBERTO:Not that I know of, if you are not having success where you are I would try the pond at your estate along with other neighborhoods.
DOUG:So there are no ponds that are more likely to have Full Moons than other?
ROBERTO:I do not know.
DOUG:Well it appears that it is luck so I will let the fishing thing go then. It's not worth it. Thanks for the help Roberto
ROBERTO: Thank you for choosing Toontown Chat support, and have a Toon-erific day!
DOUG:Thanks, I'm going to go eat some FISH for dinner now.
ROBERTO:Lol, I think that what the fisherman do.
ROBERTO: We look forward to seeing you soon in Toontown!
SERVER:Agent has closed chat session.

So I guess it's just luck everyone. I will go back to playing the game of Toontown with my friends and fish in between in case I get lucky. Good luck to everyone with the fishing

There is a site..... go to google search and type in un-oficial fishing statistics.... the name isnt very promising but it will give you what you need and more... This site has statistics from reall ppl like you and me.... I suggest making a account bc it takes less than a minute to sign up for...it is done by pond (including streets) and by rod....it makes a percentage rating on 1,000 fish....say if it says 0.4......out of 1,000 fish....this fish has been caught 4 times...1.04...104 times. This is the best way....I think to catch your last fish.!.!.!.!

Yes, I use the TUFs guide too and I have found it to be very helpful, but you don't need to google it as it is on this site. Here is a link to the thread -

Well as I pointed out in a reply to "Step away from fishing" thread, this is a typical game of chance. But let me disagree with this Roberto guy about one point. By switching the district rather then sitting at one pond, you are increasing your chances of finding something interesting. I don’t think that they program every district with the same fish, just like you see buildings taken over by cogs are not the same in every district.
I noticed for example that one pond in BRR had a high percentage of Piano Tuna and Bears. I switched the district and… same pond, same place, but nothing interesting, just garbage (balloon, clown etc). Of cause it is all re-programmed on a regular basis. I would imagine it is some kind ofa rotating program (sorry, not very good at programming, but know a lot about probability). And like in real life you’ve got to find the right place, if nothing’s happening, you’ve got to go somewhere else.

I hope it helps somebody. I am not that bothered myself. I am more of a 2-3buckets a day person.

love
colonel

You've got to be kidding. This is the same thing we've been told since day 1 of fishing by TT. After a great deal of research, I've come to the same conclusion. If you have actual proof of otherwise, I'd love to read it.

I Have all 70 fish on In Cog Neato and just got 60 fish on hardwood on Bear Belly. Also I have 69 fish on another toon. I dont think its luck at all. Fishing smart is the key and paying attention to this forum. On sunday on Bear Belly, I fished Kookytown Dreamland PG for 100 buckets. A friend got concord there hence the reason i was there. I always have my fishing book open to the fish im going for and after 100 buckets i flipped from concord to devil in my book. Next cast i got devil. Then i went to this forum and someone got concord in bouncy summit brrgh pg. I went there and one hr later i had the concord. That was the 58th fish and 2 for the day. Next i needed holey mackeral so i decided to start at top of districts and do one bucket each at my estate. Third bucket i was in bouncyville and got it. So i just needed baby grand for 60. I randomley changed districts on tenor terrace till i found one giving alot of piano fish per bucket and walla i got the baby grand in 20 minutes. Four for the day and 60 on hardwood. Total of 178 buckets.

Thanks for the advice "jhills1023" ! I will try your method and see if it helps. If nothing else it will break up the monotony by switching districts and ponds frequently. I am also going to try "pond shopping" as "colonel" suggested and look for ponds with high quantities of Moons and Pianos. I really appreciate everyone's feedback!

What I'm saying is the guy doesn't really know much about fishing. I would like to hear from someone on TT help services that can give more of an expert like theory.

I've spoken with Roberto before, about 3 times too.
Suprised he actually said "Lol" I never knew he would say that, he's kinda dull.
But If I could help you, do try on the estates it can work.

What I dont get is why they have to keep everything so "secret" I mean, why not just tell us how fishing actually works? Instead we have to come up with all these different theories, etc. I dont see what the big deal is.... why cant they just tell us? I mean it is part of the game, we should know how it works. They do that with a lot of things and i dont see the point.

What do you have to do talk to one of them?

They don't SF on TT.

They don't answer service calls.
