and I am close to being finite with toonsville..... I am an adult... I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for all of the kids who play here!!! I have spent (wasted) soooooooooooo many hours trying at the most recommended ponds to catch the 4 fish I have yet to catch.... it's just not right.....

I have figured out that catching fish is a randomly cumulative project.
We have to collect so many of certain species for each fish- i.e. we might have to collect 30 Cat Fish (or 30 pounds of Cat Fish) before we can
catch a Bear Acuda (just an example).
This is the nature of the ToonTown Beast. Remember all of those tasks we did for laff points, increased bank, bigger backpack etc. etc.? Well- that is what we are doing with fishing.
We are filling a gallery similar to the Collection of cogs that we have to get for Cog Vision. This process can also be compared to gags. We have to use a gag X number of times before we can get a more powerful gag.
Sure, someone may get a rare fish with a twig rod on the first cast, but this is a statistical anomaly (and possibly a glitch that we just haven't figured out yet).
This is the only way to explain how I (or any other toon) can get more than 1 rare (much less 7 rare) species within the space of 2-3 days. I filled my quota and it was time for ToonTown to pay up.
Random probability would not even come close.
By the way- 68/70 (and stuck there). I haven't fished much since my 68th catch. Fishing is tiresome and lonely.

Dont stop playing TT because you can't get all 70 species. It took me over a year to get all 70. I never spent more than an hour fishing either. It just takes time. Have you read Batleth's fishing guide. It's really helpful. I didnt switch districts. I always picked the pier closet to the guy you sell your fish too. I hate to wait so if my first cast doest hit I cast again. A waste of jellies, but I dont have time to waste. Good luck.

Then how do you get jellybeans. I have found out that BINGO Wednesdays is the quickest (and most fun) way to fill up the bank. In fact, I have to go on a buying spree before I start, and again in the middle of the run.

While I agree fishing alone is boring and lonely, BINGO Wednesdays rock! There's always the excitement of having to empty a full bucket and hope to get back before somebody steals your pier, or hope somebody doesn't get the last square before you get back.

I have been playing over a year and still dont have all 70. I don't even care about fishing anymore, it's just too tedious. My last new species was new years day, so that's 4 1/2 months ago, granted, I haven't been fishing a whole lot since then. It would be nice to get those last 3 I need but I'm not holding my breath. Guess that means the highest laff I'll ever see is 116, that's good enough for me.

I too am stuck at 67. Have been since shortly after the fishing update that made some fish finally catchable. I have been playing TT for about 2 years, long before fishing even came out. I only fish about 2 hours a week now, hoping to catch another new species, but not willing to spend hours every day trying for 3 ultra rare fish. I have tried many of the suggestions here and still have no luck. Was thinking of sending a bug report to TT. Am missing:
Concord Grape Jelly Fish
Full Moon Fish
Devil Ray

I too am stuck at 67. Catching the really rare ones are truly random events I believe. I caught my devil ray in Donald's Dock on my first bucket one day when I was just topping off my JB's and healing up after a battle. The All Star I caught in the TTC playground in a simliar situation but, it was like my third bucket or so. I'm hoping to do the same with the last three. I don't spend hours fishing anymore. I fish while I'm healing and that's it. I still need the concord, grizzly and full moon. Good luck to you!
