Question Has this theory been theorized before???

Okey Dokey. Waaaay to much time to think about this theory / suggestion. Actually, hubby and I have been kickin' it around since the first day we played TT. What do y'all think about having a fishing "strike zone?" That is to say, fish caught within a certain area around the dock are worth a modest amount of JBs while the much more difficult long range casting (or is it just harder for me?) and the casts that are almost horizontal, catch fish worth much more JBs? Maybe even some sort of bonus for catching two fish at once? (Like when your lure lands right between 2 fish shadows...)

I hope that translated out of my poor little brain and into this thread in some understandable condition. Now, feel free to tear this theory / suggestion apart. It just seems to me that a carefully, dare I say "skillfully" cast lure for a difficult spot often nets me a boot or a fish worth 3 jbs (when the cast cost me 4...) All right then. Bring it on. Give me your best. I'm open to any insights, suggestions, opinions, rants and of course any compliments.

This sounds like a good idea! I would always like a little more 'bang for my buck', or so to speak. I would definetly like to be added to Toontown, among other things.

Arrow Batleth? Any words of wisdom?

Okay. I'm bumpin' this to the top again. Maybe Batleth, Loosy, Alondra et al have some words of wisdom on this topic...

Fishing is as random as it can be. I can't say this theory is valid based on my past fishing experience. The only way to catch all the species is by:

1.- Fishing a lot
2.- Fishing where the species you are looking for main habitat is
3.- Fishing a lot :-)

Cheers!

Yup, I totally agree. It's all just like a random draw of a card. The more rare the species you are looking for is, the harder it is to draw that card. It all depends on fishing in the right place, and alot of luck!

I agree but it seems like (mabye this happened 2 or 3 times) that fish that go higher up in the pond are new species more often. This happend when I was a small toon.

My theories on fishing...

I actually think you have a higher chance of getting some of the rare fish with the smaller rods (I caught the Florence Nurse Shark with the hardwood rod, and caught the Old King Crab with a twig rod). I would suggest not rushing into the bigger rods, but fishing the smallers ones longer. In my experience when I've caught new species, it's done in the first 2-3 buckets of a pond. When I'm looking for new fish, I'll go to one pg, fish 2-3 buckets, then move to one of the street ponds, then go to a different street pond or another pg pond until I've done enough. I've been pretty lucky with this technique, but I only have 61 and 62 fish on my big toons.

I've thought of this too. I agree with you 100%!! I mean, in The Brrrgh, I have the gold rod and I catch all low weight fish and they are worth 4 jellybeans each. I usually end up losing jellybeans when I fish. I try to avoid fishing. But you might see Clyde Sourbrains here fish in The Brrrgh on rare occasions!

Maybe I should try Donald's Dreamland. Do they have a higher variety of fish weights there? I know for sure The Brrrrgh doesn't.

I gave this theory a try today. I do a lot of fishing when I have the chance, so I tried long and short range casting and compared the values of the fish. They were pretty much equal; I tended to get the same amount of more valuable fish in all types of casts, so from my experiences, the cast distance doesn't matter.
One thing I did notice was that when my cast landed in the center of the shadow, the fish I caught tended to be worth more then those caught when the cast landed near the outside of the shadow.

I remember when I first started fishing I thought that the better your aim was the better fish you caught, size, etc. So the closer to the center of the circle the better. It also always seemed that the farther away I cast the better fish I caught. It made sense and nowhere did it say that it wasn't true so I went with it. I wouldn't vote no, anyone asked me.

Question To Clarify....

I think I just need to clarify a tad...LOL.
My "theory" was a misnomer, that is to say the "Fishing Strike Zone" was a suggestion of what might be a nice change in the 'randomness' of fish caught. Sort of along the lines of : -The harder the shot the bigger and better the fish caught...

I know that this is not the case now, but I thought all those toons toiling away at the ponds deserved more reward for their technique and expertise...

Remember when they changed the jellybean value for the cannon game??? Maybe they'd modify the fishing to include the "Strike Zone." Sure, and my trading cards are in the mail...yep...sure...
