A new toon sets out on a journey...

I created a toon tonight on Open named Lloyd. He is a green dog, medium height, currently with Twig Rod and 27 species. I made him to try to get all the species, now that we know how to get Crescent and Half. But, since Old King is listed as very rare, isn't it possible that IT'S much easier to get with a lower rod? I'm going to investigate this case in some 4+ weeks when I get my bamboo rod, but until then, I'm not even going to take bamboo out of my mailbox until I have all possible species, minus Devil Ray and All Star Fish. Wish me luck on the Crescent, and remember that if you see Lloyd fishing, it's me!

Good luck, the cresent and half has never been caught by any here. We can only hope that Disney will one day change their rarity values to what they claim they are..lol.

That's what I'd like to know. Disney says higher rods give you a better chance but surely with a reduced number of possible catches, a lower rod gives you a better chance? My littlest toon has the Bamboo and he's up to 38 fish. I'm currently going for the Holey Mackerel and then the Florence Nurse.

I reckon a higher rod gives you a better chance for heavier fish, by this I mean that it's easier to catch (eg) a Nurse Shark on the Bamboo than the Twig because the min weight of the Nurse is the top weight of the Twig. So you can't catch ANY Nurse, only the 4lb one. Whereas a (eg) All Star has a range of weights that starts much lower so there are more All Stars you can catch. I mean like, a 1.0lb All Star, a 1.1lb All Star etc.

I also think it's worth staying on the lower rods for as long as you can because I notice from my new records file that the lower rods have better records than the Gold. I only have one toon with the Gold, I'm sure she has fished more fish yet her high records are lower than many of my other toons.

I agree with Apple. It seems like for the most part it's easier to catch with the lower rods

I'm trying to catch all available fish with each rod, we'll see how long it takes me
