Thanks Tom, guess I should have included that link with my first posting.
Don't think anyone is going to catch this species till Disney understands that their real values are off from their trading cards. Someone isn't looking at their codes properly..lol. |

I think disney needs to STOP putting BOGUS information on the trading cards.
1: The old king crab is said to be 'very rare', and there has been only one confirmed catch. Grizzly bear acaudas and grand piano tunas have had pleanty of catches and they are ultra rare. Very rare? Right. 2.Half Moon fish said to be very rare. Same thing, except NOBODY has ever caught it. Very rare? YEAH RIGHT! 3.Crecent moon fish said to be RARE. See Half moon fish, but add about ten exclamation points to the end of the yeah right thing. I wonder how many other trading cards with bogus information we'll see. Im betting the next one will be on the cat fish card... since nobodys ever caught the alley cat fish. ______________________________Edit________________ ______________ I submitted a bug report to disney. If they are putting this on the cards, then this is obviously how rare they intended the fish to be. I'm almost SURE they goofed on the rarities. Last edited by peronix; 09-05-2004 at 01:08 AM. |

My view on this is that Batleth is correct on the rarities.....The Old King Crab, Alaskan King Crab and the Scurvy Cutthroat are all listed as VERY RARE by Disney, yet the Old King Crab is nearly impossable! If it were as easy as the Scurvy or Alaskan we would all have it!! The code on the Old King Crab is way wrong. Right now I have a Toon that I have kept low in laff and waited for the street clerks to come to open so I can test the Old King Crab rarity value, he has the bamboo pole with just over 20 fish caught. His new home will be the Lighthouse Lane pond, I'm not going to upgrade his fishing pole because that would make too many other fish possable to catch and lower the odds of catching the Old Crab. If I'm not mistaken 48 fish are possable by weight on the Bamboo rod and that is cut down by the fact that some fish are not available in that pond. TUFS fishing guide lists 23 fish available in the Lighthouse Lane pond so 24 with the Old Crab. I have a 1 in 24 chance of getting it in that respect, although I know it's waaaaaay less than that!!! I thought of trying the twig rod but that would require me to catch the lowest weight of the Old Crab and only cuts down the total # of fish to 18. I figure if the TT value is right I should catch him in less than 6 hours if I can't get him in 6 hours the rarity value is wrong. Even in 6 hours is overkill for a very rare fish I should get it in no more than 3 hours.

Let us know the outcome of your results, but I'm pretty sure your not going to catch the OKC in 6 hours. I seriously doubt, we'd be able to catch the OKC with a twig, since Disney states that we need a bamboo rod. This would make it impossible for us to catch it with the twig, even though the weight says we should be able to. They've done this with other species and we can't catch those with a rod that should be able to due to min. weight of the fish or is a great deal easier to catch them with a larger rod.
Not only are some of the rarity values off, but primary locations are off for several species on those trading cards. They list the devil ray in DDL, but we are catch more of them in TB. Grizzly is listed for walrus way, but we're catch more of them in TB playground. Weights and names seem to be the only thing I haven't found errors on so far...lol. |

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Disney has the rarity values right. I don't think they've analyzed their algorithm correctly and it obviously needs adjusted (unless they intend to keep fishing "impossilbe" until more content is released).
But they *may* not be completely off in their "primary locations". Just because "most toons" catch a fish at a certain pond, does not mean that that pond is the "best" (meaning fewest buckets required) pond in which to catch that fish. The grizzly is a good example. Disney says the "best" place to catch one is on Walrus, but most toons reporting catches here are catching it at the Brrgh playground pond. Before we had clerks at the ponds, the time involved (not to mention the irritation factor) in running down the street multiple times in order to catch a significant number of buckets on Walrus would deter most toons from catching more than 2 or 3 at a time there. At the playground, however, you can simply sell, turn around, and fish again. So if (and I'm inventing these numbers out of thin air for an example) it takes 35 buckets to catch the grizzly on Walrus, but 42 to catch it at the playground, most toons wouldn't have the patience or the time to keep running down Walrus long enough to catch it. They might, however, stay at the playground and catch that many. That may be why the ponds suggested as best by TUFS differ from where most toons reporting their catches here are getting the fish. This may change somewhat now that it is nearly as easy to fish the streets (you still have to run to the pond once!) as the playgrounds. |

I think the problem is that Lulaby lane is messed up, not the rarities.
1: Alley Cat-Lulaby lane-NO CATCHES 2: Cresent moon-Lulaby lane-NO CATCHES 3: Half moon- Lulaby lane-NO CATCHES As for the Old King Crab, the rarity is just messed up lol(very rare must meen 1-100000000000000000000000....) |

Radioactive Bunny are you sure the holey was 46 JBs? If so, it'll be the new max beans for that species.
Your correct in your hypothisis, Aunt Nutmeg. Only time will tell us now for sure. I do have a problem with Disney's devil ray primary location. They say DDL and we are catching a great deal more in TB. They really do need to double check their coding and make sure it's correct, because we are finding different results. |
