This may be a lot worse :(
This is something I've been hypothesizing about for a long time. The server
isn't reporting back to the toon when a Record is broken or a New Species is caught. It concerns me a great deal, and here's why: Disney has called fishing a task. That means that there is some sort of progress that needs to be accomplished in order to catch all 50 species. My theory is that fishing is designed so that New Records increase the odds of catching New Species. However, if the server isn't (or hasn't been all this time) reporting back to the toon it's new stats, and the toon continues to keep fishing without relogging, he/she is destroying his/her chances of increasing the odds of catching new species. With my Open toon Cyrus of Purrsia, I fished like crazy to catch some of the more elusive fish at the time (Scurvy mainly, hehe). I made the Top Toon for Boots and Fish in January. That's a lot of fishing. Cyrus BARELY was able to bag 40 species for his laff point, after the update. Loosy Goosy is the same way. With both of those toons, I fished HEAVILY, catching new records left and right, without ever giving relogging a second thought. On the other hand, with my Gogga Doodle Do on Test, I logged off after every New Record and would bag a New Species on a regular basis. I bagged 10 new species in a span of 3 days iirc, doing it this way. Now, Gold rod ALREADY is more difficult, so the results are obviously different than with the earlier rods, but it still seems to apply. After the 2nd day of much success with my Gogga toon on test, I bought the Gold rod and caught the Gand Piano Tuna soon after, applying the same relog technique. Then, stupidly, I stopped doing it and hit a brick wall at 45. So folks, if I'm right about this, and you spent a lot of time fishing on Open before the update, you might have unwittingly short-changed your opportunity to increase your odds of catching those elusive mega-rares, all because the server isn't reporting back to your toon. It would be like watching your tally at the end of a cog battle, but not getting credit. There is creedence to this theory I have. Remember a little while ago, New Records weren't working properly. For example, you would catch a 8/12 frozen fish for a New Record, then cast again and catch a 8/5 for a New Record. This supposedly was fixed but I fear the problem is much more severe. ![]() |

Wow, that's SCARY! I will take that into serious account when fishing. Maybe I can catch Holey...

a reason for New Records, as well as a reason why we would need to upgrade poles to catch heavier fish. I tell you something else, this theory would also explain the "breaking the Ice" theory as well. |
