mackerel surprise

I stopped fishing at 40 species because my impression is that 50 is very nearly impossible (see the thread on Old King Crab--seems like literally no one on the forums has caught it).

Funny thing though--I decided to throw one bucket in DG while I was waiting for someone and wouldn't you know it--Holey Mackerel in one bucket!

8 lbs 10 oz, 42 jb, in dg pg, gold rod

You should be able to get 46 species before it actually becomes impossible. I'm not saying that getting over 40 species is the easiest tasks you've ever had in TT, but it is possible now. 3 of the Moon fish and the Old King Crab seem to be the only ones that's really giving us a serious amount of problems catching.

For what it's worth, after fishing was fixed I tracked about how many buckets it took me to get each new species. The rare species took about 10 to 15 buckets each with gold rod, and extremely rares seemed to take about 25 buckets each. Of course I was using the guide so I knew exactly where to fish.

My 39th was a Holey Mackerel though, so I guess thats a good thing. I had cought 35 buckets of fish on golden rod, no new species. I swear the fish hate me. Went to my estate pond, bucket number 36, first fish caught was the holey mackerel. I understand its kinda rare, so I'm told. I am on bucket number 57 now, no new fish yet. ANy suggestions on good spots to try? I had 37 fish on steel rod, have only caught 2 on the golden one. 1000 jb's a fish, what a bargain!
