Sorry, forgot to reply to "so u have 48 species tho?". I have 4 toons I'm fishing with that have 4 different rods to get a better testing of rarity values. Each toon has caught different species. My toons have the twig, hardwood, steel, and gold. I've always found very little difference between bamboo and twig, so I omit that rod from my testing. Saves me time at least and I can't imagine making a 5th toon and still being able to keep up with it. I think my toons have the following in order by rod: 17, 32, 39, 42 I think Loosy has the most caught by a single toon. I think he has 45 species, but correct me if I'm wrong, Loosy. |

New Species vs. Old Boots
Quote:
[Speculation] Old Boots are fish that you have not yet caught. There are either species you can't catch with your cureent rod, individual fish that are too big for that rod, or a new species that the random generator does not "award" to you. That last part would explain a couple of things... - Why you see more boots when you have caught fewer species - Why you see more of a "rare" species after you finally catch one If the theory is correct, once someone finally gets all 50 species, they will never get another Old Boot. [/Speculation] Thanks for the fishing spot information. I hope it helps me get that elusive species #40.

Though I think your theory is correct to a point from what we've seen of fishing, I believe that old boots is still on the random generator of species caught just as JB jars are. At best, this would give us 52 different items that could be caught with the gold rods. This would only be possible if all species were able to be caught in that pond you were fishing at. This is doubtful since some species can only be caught at certain locations. I don't believe there is a single pond that would allow 52 different items to be catchable. Disney may have just filled in some of the non-catchable species at certain ponds to be filled with boots instead. This sound highly likely, but I have no proof to show you on this. Without the means to piecemeal their programing apart, we'll never know for sure. |
