can't get passed 27 species on hardwood

Help! I've been fishing the playgrounds and the streets for weeks with the hardwood. When i first got it, I caught 5 new species with in minutes. Literally, back to back. I've been wading through the info in this forum. I need to know did I upgrade poles to fast? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is it just persistance?

You should be able to get to 30 relatively easy, depending on the species you
are still lacking.

Here: quote me by hitting the reply button on the right, then delete the
species
you've already caught from the list of 38 possible with the hardwood
below. After, we can advise on where to go for the easiest species first.

Devil Ray Fish
Clown Fish
Sad Clown Fish
Party Clown Fish
Circus Clown Fish
Star Fish
Five Star Fish
Shining Star Fish

All Star Fish
Amore Eel
Electric Amore Eel
Nurse Shark
Clara Nurse Shark
King Crab

New Moon Fish
Cutthroat Trout
Captain Cutthroat Trout
Scurvy Cutthroat Trout
Frozen Fish
Rock Star Fish
Holey Mackerel
Alaskan King Crab
Kiddie Pool Shark
Swimming Pool Shark
Olympic Pool Shark
Flourence Nurse Shark
Harvest Moon Fish
Sea Horse
Pool Shark
Brown Bear Acuda
Black Bear Acuda
Koala Bear Acuda
Honey Bear Acuda

I don't want to steal Loosy's Thunder, but here's an opinion.

From this list, I'd say you have a fighting chance at catching:
Alaskan King Crab ..The Brrrgh (PG or streets)
Swimming Pool Shark ..My best luck was on Maple Street in Daisy's.
Baby Grand Piano Tuna - Minnie's (PG or Streets)
Player Piano Tuna - Minnies (PG or Streets)
Captain Cutthroat Trout - Donald'd Dock (PG or Streets)

I think you could also catch a seahorse (I've had the best luck at My estate here). I have at least caught one of each of these where indicated.

With the other fish, I hope for luck. Just fishing where they can be caught at least creates a chance.

Have fun in Toontown, ...Bear

Easy!!

Ok, to get to 30 the quickest, concentrate on these guys:
Captain Cutthroat Trout (Donald's Dock, preferably Barnacle Blvd.)
Alaskan King Crab (Brrrgh playground)
Swimming Pool Shark (Daisy's mainly, but also anywhere)
Player Piano Tuna (Minnie's PG)

You can do these tonight easy.

After that, focus on these guys in this order (if you want to get as many as
you can with the hardwood):

Clara Nurse Shark (Minnie's PG)
Holey Mackerel (Your Estate)
Scurvy Cutthroat Trout (Donald's Dock preferably Barnacle Blvd.)

These are toughest:

Devil Ray Fish
All Star Fish
Flourence Nurse Shark
Baby Grand Piano Tuna

Good luck!

As the old saying goes, "If you have 3 fishertoons you'll have 4 opinions."

I have exactly 30 species with my hardwood and I got:
Swimming pool shark (I think I got it in DG playground)
Alaskan King Crab (The Brrgh playground)
Player Piano Tuna (MM playground)

If you want an aggregate opinion I generated a special TUFS statistic just for you. If you follow the link bellow it will show you all the species that have been cause having weight with weight <= 12lbs sorted by their difficulty. Click on the name of the fish will show you which ponds it has been caught in with the hardwood, sorted by difficulty within that pond.

I agree with Lil's opinion. Those are the 3 easiest ones to catch from my own experience. Plus, Lil has been nice enough to list them in order of difficulty.

well, it actually wasn't order of difficulty intentionally, it was the order I caught them in, but same thing I guess.

Lil,

Your stats page for Hardwood only shows 34 species. Does that mean that nobody on TUFS has caught (with Hardwood or lower) the All-Star Fish, Holey Mackeral, Florence Nurse Shark, or Baby Grand Piano Tuna? That is very depressing.

It also shows several species that are by far easier to catch than the Devil Ray,
but with a lower percentage than the Devil Ray. so you have to remember it's
only based on user input from the toons participating in the data collection.

Yeah you'd think so! I've spent sooo long in DD looking for the Captain, no luck yet!

I have entered around 1500 fish, mostly Hardwood and some Bamboo. None of my toons have any of those fish. Mind you, I am concentrating on Donald's Dock *shrug*.

Yea I put the captain at the top only because I've caught about 30 of them in a
70+ hour span with my Cyrus of Purrsia toon, while trying to catch the Scurvy.
That was with Bamboo, but with steel, LG has caught a dozen or so of them.
The others who posted were right to not include the Captain, which is tougher
(normally) when compared to the other 3 (Alaskan, Swimming, Player).
