I don't need to preform the experiment you suggest in order to answer your question. I am 100% certain I know the answer already.
The concept of districts or "shards" as they are called in most MMORPGs is that the virtual universe isn't big enough for the number of people that want to be there. Rather than perform population control (by only allowing a set number of subscribers) or making the world bigger, they just create multiple parallel universes. In most MMORPGs you pick a shard (a specific server) when you sign up and then you are stuck in that one. Disney didn't want people to get stuck in a different sevrer than their friends so they let you go back and forth. How does this relate to your question about fish? Let me tell you. The parallel universes are in some ways identical and some ways different. They all use the same identical code and data files. In other words, the only think different about them is the name. Therefor it can not be the case that some fish are more common in a certain district like they are in a certain neighborhood. The code doesn't know what district it is so that information can't effect how things work. On the other hand, if the code does anything that is based on random numbers or the actions or toon then it will be different because each copy of the code (for each district) will probably get different random numbers (because they are random) and obvious have different toons do different things. Just like a building might be a cog building in one district but not in another, the pond shadows will move differently. To sum up, while fishing in two different discricts won't go exactly the same, it will not be noticeably different and switching won't help because the probability of every outcome is the same in both.

Thanks for responding, but that didn't EXACTLY answer my question. I already surmised most of what you said.
My question is time specific. In other words, say I am fishing in Kookyboro and cant seem to get rid of the starfish. If I were to go to the same pond in Nutty Hills right then, will it also be on the starfish track? Or maybe its "random" generation is in a different cycle so to speak, and it will give me more eels? (not that eels are any better...) I guess this is somewhat related in my mind as to whether the code for fishing is toon-specific or not (the observation I brought up in another post, about not catching talking frogs unless you are working with LOM). I have noticed that two toons can be using the same rod on the same shadow at the same time, and catch different species. (There's alot to be said for fishing with secret friends!!!) I am fishing in screwy park right now. One s/f caught his first Captain here a few hours ago, I just caught my first Scurvy, and another friend just caught a Captain (she already had one). I think I will stay in Screwy Park for a while.

I think I did answer your question. If were getting a lot of starfish and switch districts, no you won't neccessarily get a lot of starfish. On the other hand if you say you won't neccessarily get a lot of starfish. Random numbers are RANDOM! The fact that you get a lot of starfish has to do with the fact that they are extremely common. There's no such thing as a starfish track. There is no track. There is no predicting future catches based on past catches, shadow, toon, district, or pond (besides the probability statistics based on rod and pond). Which district you are in makes absolutely no difference. Yes if things don't go your way in one district it is possible they could in a different one, but with the exact same probability that things just start going your way in this pond.

Fish in whatever pond and district that makes you happy. If you think you catch better fish there, then you have the power of positive thinking on your side, and that can have a beneficial effect on how you feel. ^_^ It doesn't have any effect on what fish you catch, but it can have a big effect on what you think and how you feel about the fish you catch, and that's nearly the same thing isn't it?
