Fishing Help Needed! Re: Poles & Species, PLEASE

I am new at this fishing thing, I just upgraded from a Twig Pole to a Bamboo rod. And the next upgrade in fishing poles I have already purchased and is sitting in my mailbox waiting for me to pick up. HERE'S MY QUESTION... Are there species that I can only get with certain poles? If I buy & upgrade to the new poles as fast as I can, when I have a gold rod will I find out that I'm not able to catch all of the possible species because certain species are only able to be caught with weaker poles? I don't want to miss out on catching all the species. (I don't care about fish weight's) Thank you for your help

Stronger rods (ie steel gold etc) will catch everything the lighter rods will although they do cost more and use more beans per cast. If your using fishing to restock jellybeans I would suggest holding off on the Gold and possibly Steel rods since the bait cost offsets the earned jellybeans even to negative levels. IF your after new species of fish and dont mind using tasks or the trolley to subsidize fishing then by all means buy each as soon as you can. One drawback is that once you buy and take a heavier rod from your mailbox you cant use the lighter rods again.

Are there species that I can only get with certain poles? Yes, it depends mostly on weight it seems. Certain poles can catch certain weights of fish. The bigger the fish, the bigger the pole you can need.

If I buy & upgrade to the new poles as fast as I can, when I have a gold rod will I find out that I'm not able to catch all of the possible species because certain species are only able to be caught with weaker poles? No, with a gold rod it is possible to catch ALL types of fish, but we have discovered from Disney, that since you can catch ALL types of fish with a gold rod, the likelihood of you catching the more rarer species of fish is lessened. It's like this: If you put 2 fish in a pond, 1 guppy & 1 catfish, well it's pretty likely that you'll catch one or the other given a little time. But if you put 200 bass in the lake with 1 guppy & 1 catfish, it's more likely that you'll catch the bass that it would be to catch that 1 guppy or catfish. So my suggestion to you is to use the twig rod as much as you can, catching ALL the fish you can with the twig. Then when you've caught ALL the fish you can with that, THEN upgrade to the bamboo rod. Basically, don't upgrade your rod (because you can't go back) until you've caught all the fish you can with THAT pole.

For more information on what fish are caught with what pole, how much they weigh, what playgrounds they are more likely, and how many jellybeans you can expect to get, refer to Batleth's fishing guide. It's the most complete one so far:

Here's a tip, don't give up and patience. And also, if you have or if going to buy the hardwood, the best spot for a lot of fishes is the Brrrgh.
