Thanks for the suggestion. When I play TT it is my only activity (except checking email and these boards, of course). With fishing, doing it with something else, might make it tolerable.

I caught my 66th species in October 2005 and my 67th species in February 2007. I also fish in the "recommended" ponds, 50 buckets a day, every day,with no new results. In my opinion, completion of a single TT endeavor [fishing] should not be so elusive.

Is there anyone who knows how to get TT administrators to take a closer look at their "fishing program[s]" and manipulate the odds so that the chances of catching the ultra-rare fish are reasonable?

I am still flipping jelly beans at a regular rate and have yet to encounter the Full Moon, Concord Grape, or Grand Piano.

I am not sure if the grips are warrented or not. The reason I am not sure is because most everyone that is posting is talking in terms of amount of time and not in amount of fish within a certain time frame. I believe this is key. I have maxed fishing 5 times now and I have had my issues with it. Many times going over 50,000 fish between new species. With Good ol' Mildew Pinkerklunk I had 68 fish and then went for over 50,000 fish to get the 69th and then fished for over another 50,000 fish for the 70th. But if you want to talk time it took me about 4 weeks, because I was a fishing crazed at the time. That was my worst experience with fishing, but I got them. I wish you all luck at the ponds. If you need a fishing buddy let me know I am always fishing some toon or other. I am a little looney I guess because I like fishing. LOL

I agree. I have been playing toontown for just a couple months less than the OP... (with the exception of the year I took off just after CJ came out).

On my first and second toons, I had 40 something fish when there were only 50 (when you actually continually went broke trying to fish with the gold rod). On my third toon, I kept the twig rod (she was originally an uber) until I had all but the most rare fish. Each of these original 3 toons have 65 or less fish.

On my fifth toon, created the first year black cats came out, I had 64 fish by late January, with the steel rod. I made top toons for fishing many times after I maxed CFO before GSW came out (and had nothing better to do), lost a lot of friends due to fishing too much. Watched as about 10 "fishing buddies" caught up to me, then passed me, and eventually maxed fishing. I have had 67 fish on that toon since the summer after CFO came out (more than 2 years). I go through phases where I get DETERMINED to get those darn fish, do 100 buckets a day... but that lasts usually about 2 weeks before I am ready to quit toontown again over it. Since that toon, I have made nothing but ubers, partially because of the slightly increased challenge of an uber (ubers are only really challenging the first time, IMO) but a great deal of it is due to frustration with fishing - I just don't want 12 toons who need those last 2-4 fish!

I have said this each and every time this complaint comes up - I am convinced that older accounts, those which existed before fishing came out - have a remnant of the bug that was supposedly "fixed" with the first 50 fish. I don't think anyone will EVER convince me otherwise.

Assuming this is true, let's hope that when they work on fishing (as the rumors say they would at ToonFest), that the fix also applies to us older accounts!

I dont think this will help but ill try to console you i wwas trying to catch the siamese cat fish on elm strret and i caught the citcadel horse fish (check spelling lol) on elm street when it says u catch it in the estate onother wierd thing happened i was fishing inj the burrg's playground 4 the last bear acuda and i found the devil ray i always though u could only catch it in donalds dreamland

just like 2 let u know ur not the only 1 out there who is having trouble with there fishes i started playing toontown in 2004 and i have only 58 fish species caught

You know some people don't have a life outside fishing in toontown for a fish they may never cATCH! get a life and wait till toontown eases up on the stupid odds system they have for fishing.

Okay, well, I'd just like to say that I absolutely hate fishing, and I won't ever like it. It's by far too time consuming; I can make beans on the trolley at the same rate, while having fun. Fishing is just... stupid.

I don't know how to fix it, but what would be good is that there was a certain pond in a certain district for a certain fish. For example:


Old King Crab; Funnyfield; Walrus Way
Devil Ray; Nutty Summit; Donald's Dreamland Playground
Moon Fish; Loopy Harbor; Sleet Street

I think that people could explore, and get all of the fish. It would be pretty fun to organize a "fish hunt."

I like fishing so I guess I really shouldn't count. But let's look at this in terms of time we spend getting other laff points. It takes over 150 hours of play time to max a suit in sell and longer to max a suit in cash and longer still to max a suit in law.

If you fish for 150 hours at a rate of 35 buckets per hour, which is actually a little slow, that would be 105,000 fish. Which would be about average to max fishing.

So if you spend 150 hours to max a sell suit to get 5 laff, and on average it takes 150 hours to max fishing to get 7 laff. To me it sounds like fishing is set just about right.

I don't want to make anyone angry. So keep in mind I like fishing, so you can't take me seriously ( I am looney).

Wow! What a great point! When people say they cant catch their last fish, how come SO many people have done it? In my opinion, they dont want to put the tie into it, which is their choice, but I dont think they deserve to gripe about it until they have caught over 75k for a fish.

I wasnt talking about you in general. I just see alot of people say "Ive caught like 1000 fish and no rare!" Youve fished over 75k for a fish? Then keep on fishing, its bound to show up soon.

We have played TT for years. I have fished for hours & hours, buckets & buckets, different times of day, changing docks & districts, same dock & district & making Top Toons for fishing repeatedly. I have read every theory & tried every suggestion & I still do not have any toons maxed in fishing. I don't like hearing that you only catch fish if you do fish. It is bologna!
I think they did make it easier, but only for new toons. I made a new black cat & she has 57 fish already without really trying. It took me 2 months just to get siamese on my other toons. My new cat has a devil ray already.
I do have a life outside of Toontown, but I have spent at least an hour a day at it for 6 months. I do about 10-20 buckets per day, per dock in the pond or district that seems "hot" at the moment. (I fish while my children have their TV time.)
I have read that your last fish comes within about 20,000 fish, give or take a few thousand, after your next to last. BOLOGNA! I am close to 120,000 & still no last fish.
I can't immagine a child having the patience to complete the fishing task. At least with the other tasks there is a visable goal.

That's exactly how I feel... even with racing, where you have no idea if you need 2 wins or 40 wins left before that next trophy, you KNOW that with each effort you put forth, SOMEWHERE there is visible gain toward your goal. Not so with fishing. And because of that, Disney is able to poo-poo any complaints that those of us who have REALLY TRIED send in, with the now oft-repeated phrase "keep fishing, you will get them all eventually"

I don't know about older toons, I have heard this before maybe there is something in the programming making toons before fishing came out have trouble. I am not sure. My oldest toon was made in August of 2005. That toon does have its fish but it took over 50,000 to get the 69th and over another 50,000 to get the 70th.

As far as children reaching this goal. Hmm... Well I don't know many children that can max an HQ either or anything else for that matter. My 3 children haven't maxed anything in over 2 years. I think maxing is for the advanced players that play this game, not for everyone.
