Fishing theory question

I know there are all kinds of theories about how fishing works. Can some of you fishing experts comment on whether you think you need to catch a certain number of fish to unlock the next x number of fish you can catch?
If not I guess the main factor is what pond you fish and programmed probabilities (assuming you have a gold rod).

my theory and what i have advised others to do is fish little and often. If you dont want to take my word for it read through the forums, how many people have caught that elusive fish 1st fish 1st/2nd bucket, 1,2,10 i bet theres over 50, most of my ultras have been caught this way. the only ultras ive struggled with are the ones i camped at a pond for. how many people do you see saying ive spent weeks at a pond and caught nothing..hmmm
do a few buckets change district/pg, fish for more than one at a time, and start early in your toons life, dont leave it til 110 or so lp then go fishing. start from day 1 and do a few everyday.
As for numbers, if you dont get lucky the ball park figure of 60,000 is often mentioned. if you get two fish like this you are def unlucky, but one fish@60k is more than likely.

I found the most fun I had fishing was going for 5 buckets in every street in different districts. I usually caught the fish I was looking for in 1 of the 5 buckets.

I probably fished for over 100,000 fish total. I found when I fished for 2 -3 hrs straight I was bored out of my mind. I could only handle about 1200 fish a day max.

It took me over 2 years to get all the fish but I had given up for long stretches of time.

Does anyone feel there is a minimum number of fish that must be caught to get to 70? For example could someone who's very lucky catch all 70 with 50,000 fish total?

I caught 70-80k fish and people say I got LUCKY! Herb, I'm not sure if I should follow your advice taking that It took you 150,000 fish (More then half of what it took me) The average fish caught to get to 70fish is around 70k

advice is freely given and rarely taken, all i said was look in the forums, they are a wealth of knowledge. alot of people have caught ultras in there first bucket or first few fish, is this a coincidence you decide.how many people have sat by the same pond day in day out for hours and caught zilch, again read the forums theres your answer. as for herb, you cannot possibly compare as all he did was fish, he was the first toon under 100lp to catch all 70 fish, and wally will vouch for me as well, when you just fish you cannot expect anything else than 100,000 fish and hard work. when you catch all 70 fish under 100lp then ill accept your reasoning, im closing in on 4x70/70 and am fishing on a further 2 more, yes im gonna stop at 6.I fish everday on several toons a bit here a bit there, you wont see me on top toons but i can tell you im still catching ultras....

Well, as you know Jeff has caught 70fish on 5 toons and he said the best way to fish is to catch at least 5,000 fish a day. He managed to get all 70fish this way in only 13 days. From what I see in the forums, no one posts how many fish they caught grand total. And seeing that you catch around 2k a day, why did it take you 150,000 fish? THATS INSANE!

No I don't feel that there is a minimum number. I'm still 3 short, but according to what I've read and seen on the boards I've been REMARKABLE lucky and have fished not even half again what others who are the same fish as I am have. So either it's been exaggerated HUGELY (which I doubt) or I'm just lucky. Of course, MAYBE there IS a minimum and I'll get to that last fish and have 100,000 fish left to catch before I can have it. LOL

yes jeff has 5 fishing toons but not 1 under 100 or so lp points, stop comparing fishing ubers to others you have no idea.I dont pretend i know everything about fishing just giving my theory as the post was originally established. oh and if you wanna criticise me whilst i was fishing what where you doing errrr 1000 trolley games....... whose the genius now lol.

Fishing ubers do not alter the chances of catching ultra rares. No matter what laff, the fishing system does not change.
