what's the trick to throwing pie inside VIP?

I've noticed some are very good at throwing the pie inside the VIP to cause him to be dizzy, and some just can't do it. I'm somewhere in between. When it's on the ramp and I stand right behind him, I can hit it most of the time, but I have issues when it's towards the end of the platform. In fact this weekend we lost 3 VIP battle because no one in the party could throw one in once it got to the end.

I've had some luck with standing realy close and throwing level into it, but the door timing is hard.

What tactics does everyone use?

It does get harder when he's near the end of the platform, but the trick I use helps. I get back far enough up the ramp from him, and I toss pies constantly, adjusting my position a little until they are smacking the door. Then, when he opens it, WHAMMO. Then I pelt him like crazy with pies. Wash, rinse, repeat. Usually this is what everyone else is doing as well, so he gets stunned very quickly.

Well...

Here's a M&S 7's view... I start off by getting pies (Duh) then I head to the back. I go about a foot behind 1 of the wheels (very close) then I look towards the hatch and Aim a Pie (Hold). When the Vp opens the hatch get your pie meter to the bottom |-+++------------| where the +'s are.

Do not try to throw pies in the back until you are 70+, the reason is he hits the back A LOT . Well That's my Two cents.

hmmmm

I'm not entirely sure! I'm just a mover & shaker...

I tend to stun from behind...and I'm ok with that now until I'm standing right at the back of the target and run out of space!

Then there is a patch until he reaches the 2nd half of the target where I really struggle to get anything into the door at all from standing anywhere in front of him.

Once he is on the 2nd half of the target I tend to be ok again and stun from on the slope or a lil way onto the target.

Now that iffy zone I'm guessing is the same area you are having problems! Sometimes, it might be easier because he is "driven" past that zone in one go so no need to stun.... the rest of the time...if there are no expert stunners, then it seems to be sheer numbers of toons helps - if you get enough throwing one will eventually hit *grins* not methodical I know...

so thanks for starting this thread and I'll be watching it, even if my contribution wasn't exactly what you were looking for ;-)

Being the owner of 2 maxed toons my strategy is very good and will make your VP team be able to dance.

Here it goes: I stand very close to the VP around by the wheels, maybe a foot away. Then you click your mouse VERY LIGHTLY rapidly, aiming at the VP's undercarraige. As the undercarriage opens still press your mouse lightly and rapidly and you should get it in and make VP dizzy most of the time. But you may get hit by his throwing gears(which is no big deal) but you will still make VP dizzy.

My strategy is can be tough and may need some practice, just like I practiced it. And, now I rarely ever miss a shot.

Note to many of the non-experienced VPers: If you're in with high laff toons that now how to make VP dizzy, please dont get in their way and cause them to miss a shot.

Um I suggest going behind the vp when hes in a ramp and sniping him when he isn't. I mean like at the lowest platform you can go on that ramp and throw pies until you can see a good hit. Memorize that space an va-voom. That's how I got Mingler 11 so good luck with your vp battling.

I attack from the back, it's an easier shot. I just keep throwing pies and move back and forth until they keep hitting the door. Then I just keep throwing. When he opens the door i often have one already on the way. I'm pretty good with hitting him, towards then end it gets hard to do it from the back, so when it gets to a bit beyond the center of the lowest platform I move to the front. works for me.

so you re-mapped your keys?
I thought it was insert key to throw. That's one thing I hate about TT, it needs to have built in key mapping so I don't need to use 3rd party stuff.

No, Cool Corny Electrofoot is just using the other method, you can either press the Insert key or you can place your cursar over the icon of a pie on your screen and press your mouse button to throw a pie. I have tried re-mapping my keys as in other games they tend to use the Shift or Alt button but it didn't work with TT.

I finally learned by doing this: I stand a far way either in front or in back. Then I keep pressing the mouse key for different lengths of time (holding it down adjusts the aim). Once I get the feeling of the correct length of time to hold the mouse key down, (I can tell because my pies start hitting the door), I just do that until it goes in.

Some people feel being up close works very well. But I am a tall cat, and have been very unsuccessful at getting the pie in up close, it always hit's above the cage. Therefore I stand way back.

That's my strategy in a nutshell. In the beginning, I get behind him on the ramp and pitch pies into the door. Once he starts moving down the ramp, I stand clear of the gears he tosses and lob pies from a distance, adjusting until I can hit the door. The majority of the time, he gets stunned the instant his door opens, and he starts getting hit hard by the toons up above driving him back. When he reaches the edge of the launch pad, which is the OP's primary question, I run up to the top of the ramp to the launch pad and lob pies until they're hitting his door, then he gets stunned when it opens. Then I run forward and hit the key as many times as possible to line drive pies right into his face. On many of the VP runs I've been on, this is the strategy the majority of the toons use, so he goes down pretty fast.

I'm working on my merits right now for The Mingler Level 10... just 3 more VP's to Mr. Hollywood Level 8! Woo hoo! (With 3400 merits to go from Mingler 11 to Mr. Hollywood... oh, here comes that sinking feeling. I'm dreading the 5500 merit runs already. )
