Question A new one for me!

I was helping a friend do her Mr. Hollywood 50th VP today and had a very unpleasant experience, one that I have never seen before.

I was with 4 other sf, all very experienced. One had to leave right after cog round, but but the 4 of us are enough for pies.

During most of the pie round the VP was facing backwards and the pies which hit him were not pushing him back! He was also a jumper. It took us about half an hour and my use of two 40 lp TOWs to finally defeat him.

I was a part of that VP.
I was very confused.

The VP was stunned and we were hitting him but he would not move.
I was told it was because he was facing the back so our hits were not moving him.

If LVT has never seen this I am thinking it might have been some bug or glitch.

The funniest part of the VP to me was at the elevator. Two toons would not board because they thought 7 toons was not enough. We went with 5 but only 4 in the pie fight. One toon had to leave. No one died. We were never in trouble, I had unites and was waiting for anyone to say they needed laffs.

It was just frustrating cause the big rascal would not move except to jump

I agree with you! It was funny seeing those two toons being afraid to enter the elevator with a group which included three Holly 50s and one Holly 49.

Unfortunately, it is just as well considering what we encountered!

The VP was definitely facing backwards. When I was stunning from behind, I was able to see his full suit and the pies I hit him with were causing colored "splats". When I was hitting him from the front, I could see his back and the "splats" were grey.

I would have taken a screen shot, but I was afraid to stop throwing pies and jumping.

I've seen the exact phenomenon, and it's caused me to go sad in at least 3 VP runs. It happens in the situation you describe, very few toons left in the pie fight. The only way I see that helps avoid it is to make sure you have at least 6-8 toons left, and the majority are up above waiting to pelt him once he's stunned. This way you have enough pies hitting him to get him past that second ramp, which is where this glitch becomes pronounced. Without enough toons to get him past that crucial point, he begins jumping and glitching, and he gains ground on you. It becomes a fight to push him back before he gains ground, and in the fights I was in, the other toons were not experienced enough to pelt him enough to accomplish this.

We went in with a small group to start. As odd as it may sound, it seemed as if the VP was tracking the two of us who were 118 lp. If I or Mikehearn was stunning from behind, he was facing backwards. When either of the other two players were behind him, he turned back and forth more often.

It definitely seemd like there was some sort of glitch involved as well; the door kept flickering open and shut at a very fast pace.

VP Vertigo!

I have seen this happen on a couple occasions. One sf suggested that it might be because the SOS cards were high cards (i.e. 5 star lure, sound, drop, trap) so the VP fight was more difficult. Actually, I just don't remember what the cards were. This began happening after an update about 5-6 weeks ago, I believe. My preferred spot is "rear gunner" so I reverse strategy & try to hit him in the head/torso instead of the door and hope that the toons up above can get the door. Fortunately, I am usually able to go with a group of sf so we can discuss the battle after we finish - whatever the outcome! lol Two of my toons are high toons (117 & 118) and, let me tell you, I can go sad too -- just takes a bit longer! Besides the obvious frustration of a VP having a panic attack, reversing strategy as a toon can be quite a challenge. My toons are small. When the VP is "normal," this is an advantage and aides in getting pies in that rear door, but it makes throwing pies high enough to hit the VP in the chest of head difficult. One suggestion is to keep the same target areas but quickly switch positions with your teammates until he gets down to the bulls-eye area.

Good luck... and let the pie fly!

It happened again today!

I did a VP with one of my 118 lp sf. We decided to do a VP with a random group this morning. We breezed through the cog rounds but again had trouble with the pies. My sf was lagging so badly that she could barely move and finally ended up disconnecting. We were down to 3 toons and the VP had regained a lot of ground, when I announced that we were in trouble and should go back to the playground. This time I did manage to get a screen shot and submitted a bug report.

I really felt bad for the player who needed Ice Cream from Hollywoods. I know how hard those types of tasks are.

YES!

You are describing exactly what happened on our VP run yesterday. It took us about 1/2 hour, yes.... He kept jumping, was almost impossible to stun, and then when you did stun him he didn't stay stunned for very long!!! He was extremely difficult to push back, and kept inching up again whenever we couldn't get him stunned. One toon used 2 TOW phrases, and my friends were constantly throwing pies at each other to try and keep everyone alive. We still lost our 111 lp friend before the end of that one. I hope I never see one that bad again soon!

The reply from TT

Here it is, my comments are after it:

Dear Toontown Guest,

Thank you for your recent bug report.

We believe that running Toontown in OpenGL mode will help solve your
problem.

Configuring Disney's Toontown Online to use OpenGL:
- Click on the "Start" button
- Click on "Run..."
- In the box that comes up, type (including the quotation marks):
"C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\Toontown\Configrc.exe" -ogl -save
- Click OK
NOTE: A black box may pop up and disappear. This is normal.
- Restart Toontown

We look forward to seeing you in Disney's Toontown Online soon!

Thank You,

Roberto

Description:

I just did a VP in the Kookytown district, there were only 160 in it at
the time. When the time came for the Pie Round, the VP was often facing
backwards when he was stunned and the pies did not have any effect. The
door would flicker open and shut fast and erractically and the pies
would not go inside. Also a friend of mine was lagging so badly that she
could not operate her toon.

Does this mean that everyone who experiences these types of problems should run TT in OpenGL? The way I understand it, OpenGL is not a solution to the problem but more like a work around. I am far from the only one who has experienced this, each time I had it so did the others with me.

Please, everyone who sees this should report it! If this is a widespread problem, then TT should fix it instead of telling us to use workarounds. First and foremost, we are customers who are paying to use their product! This seems like poor customer service to me!

Yep yep, I saw the same thing Sunday. 7 of us get on the elevator, all friends of mine. 3 of us are HW50s. Only two of us made it and it took us ages to push him down the ramps. I think I bruised my pie finger..
