Question about difficulty

Could someone with more experience give me a bit of advice? My toon is 84 laff, and while I've done many factories and a handful of coin mints, I've never yet done the VP or the harder mints.

I know I could VP with the CCG; my son has taken his toon (Captain Knuckles Featherhopper) with laff somewhere in the mid-50s on a few CCG runs and enjoyed it immensely - you guys are great! But I want to be sure I can pull my own weight and not annoy anyone with my lack of ability, so I was going to wait until I had a bit higher laff and some higher level gags before I go.

Anyway, I now have a task to defeat 8 dollar mint supervisors in order to earn the last piece of my cashbot disguise. I can't take any other tasks or increase my laff (other than racing & fishing) until I do that.

So my question is, which is easier, a dollar mint or the sellbot VP? I'm talking purely cog battles, not the pie fight or stuff like dodging stompers, which require different skills and have nothing to do with gags. Given the right set of fellow toons I'm sure I could handle either. I'm nowhere near maxed, but I'm not too bad (pixie dust, $5 lure, elephant, maxed birthday cake, fire hose (very close to storm cloud), and anvil). I figure I'll get myself up to storm cloud before doing either.

But which one is easier? I'll focus on that one first, then do the other when I've got a few more gags at higher levels.

Thanks for any advice you care to share.

My personal opinion is that the dollar mint is easier than the VP. Either one has its difficulties. Whether its how long it takes or trying to get enough people to do either one or worrying about what 'type' of group you get to go. Type meaning what everyone's playing style is and their willingness to work together. A VP usually carries 8 (tho not always necessarily, especially with the CCG) and the mint only carries 4 (tho I have ran 3 toon mints several times)

I do suggest the CCG for doing the VP. If you are comparing doing a dollar mint versus a VP run with the CCG.... I wouldn't say one is harder than the other. The CCG is awesome and has been the only reason why I have my Hollywood and Robber Baron suit today. It is very difficult to VP or CFO with random people. And that's for many reasons. But, as for your laff pts and gag levels... the CCG does not discriminate against any of that. We have had 15 laffers with very low gag levels join us on our runs many times.

As for the mint, the different level of difficulties vary between coin/dollar/bullion. That meaning, they vary in the number of cogs you will have to face as well as obstacles. Coin being the easiest/shortest and Bullion being the most difficult/longest. I don't feel that your gag levels are too low for any thing.

On another note, feel free to send me a PM with a code if you ever need help getting people to join you for your dollar mint task. I would be more than happy to help!

Just my 2cents

I'd say it partially depends on the toons you're with...

Either VP or a dollar mint can be challenging if you go with all unmaxed toons, but your gags are good so either is doable for you. Personally, I think the VP would be easier as there are less high level cogs (usually~not always!) while in a dollar mint the smallest cog you'll find will be a level 10. BUT...that being said, as long as you're with a group that is working together you can do both of those with ease!

If you're with friends, you can work out a plan of action easily as well, so it really is up to you to decide which you'd like to do more. I've never been on a CCG run, but I have heard that they do a wonderful job. They might be a good way to introduce yourself to vping if you decide to go that route. Have fun!

The dollar mint is hard because no one ever helps. My guess is that you will not be able to do more than two per night unless your friends pitch in.

As for the cogs, I think the vp is harder because it is not as predictable. Pretty much everyone goes into all the mints with the same game plan. You will have to be a bit more flexible in vp battles because both the cogs and toons vary in size. I have never been on a ccg run but if they really stick to their basic strat, then a vp run will be easy.

The dollar mint is just like the coin mint except that is has a few more battles. You should be able to handle it with no problem.

With your laff and gags, VP won't be too tough either. CCG is an excellent suggestion if you'd like to avoid the shuffle in the biggest district. Or if you post a time and district I'd be happy to round up a few friends and take you through.

You seem like a person who is extremely considerate of your fellow players, I have a great respect for toons like you. Best of luck to ya

you can VP with ease

YOu could also do the mints with a good team of players.

Three 100s can do bullion mint, probably two could do it.

I did coin mint with a 116 when I was at 54. She was kind enough to burn some SOS cards and some Unite phrases. We actually had a HARD coin mint which was rather shocking.

I think it was the coin mint but maybe it was another one. It was my first cash mint ever so I had no idea what to expect. I was just big eyed and having fun. I know i did not have any level 6 gags, so the super toon had to carry me.

I experienced everything. My first mint I was able to do the spinning cog gear tower, the jump till u drop room and do it for 20 minutes, and the stomper refill area. It was a long and arduous battle. But a lot of fun.

I agree with Bnkzsahm, that the VP is slightly easier than the dollar mint cog battle-wise. There may be a few more cogs in the VP battle, but nearly half of them will be lower level than the dollar mint cogs. Another consideration is that in the VP, you don't face 4 unlured cogs as often. The only time you do in the VP is the first battle of each set (2) if there happen to be 4 (sometimes there are 2 or 3), and if/when you kill all 4 previous cogs. In the mints, as you know, you face 4 unlured cogs each time you kill 4 cogs.

That being said, I think that you are more than ready for the VP. I respect that you would like to pull your own weight, and that your goal is to have storm cloud before attempting either the dollar mint or the VP. I don't believe a toon should go somewhere where their skill level and gags are completely unprepared for the battle, however, I also believe that one's skill level will not improve if one doesn't challenge oneself at least slightly.

At your laff, the dollar mint is definitely doable also, but as someone mentioned already, it is not a popular place so will be more difficult to find other toons to help with. In the mints, the storm cloud is slightly more important than it is in the VP. Be aware also, that in the bigger mints, there are MANY people who will see that you don't yet have foghorn and refuse to go with you.

On that note, if you play at nite, I would be more than happy to do some dollar mints with you on my soundless toon, if you need company.

Take care, good luck and most of all HAVE FUN!

Thanks Everyone!

Thanks everyone for all your insightful responses and also for the kind offers of help. It's hard for me to promise to be on TT at a particular time, so for now I think I'll pass on your individual offers to plan a run together. (This may change if I find it too painful waiting for kindly passers-by to lend a hand, LOL.)

Some of you may be interested in hearing about my experience. Last night, after doing a couple buildings and several street fights just to build my squirt and finally reach storm cloud (yay!) I went for the dollar mint. (I decided that since there wasn't a really clear and obvious choice I might as well go for the one I needed for my designated task, and do the VP later.)

So I tooned up and gagged up and went to the busiest district and stood in front of the dollar mint elevator for several minutes. I was just on the verge of giving up and going for the VP instead (only one of my friends was online and judging from their laff/gags/location they were very busy elsewhere and nearly sad) when along came a cat named Roxy who, it turned out, also had to do dollar mints for a task. Cool.

We waited maybe a minute longer and two more came to help so we hopped in the elevator. One was named Granny something (sorry, I don't remember) and the other was a dog whose name I forget entirely. Sorry, I'm really bad with names in real life too. Anyway, these three toons were awesome! They were all higher laff than me, but I definitely pulled my own weight.

Granny had a bit of trouble crossing the ink/paint mixer, but other than that there were no real problems at all. And don't worry Granny - my wife took her toon (Lady Melody Petalface) through a coin mint for the first time yesterday and went into that room with 85 laff and came out with 13! Whew!

But the mint itself was no problem. It would be nice if I had fog horn and better lure, but my toon ups and other gags easily made up for those shortcomings, and I'll get those too in time.

Now I just need to do it 7 more times to complete this task, which shouldn't be too hard assuming there are people around willing to join me. As I said above, it's hard for me to promise exact times to meet friends, but if anyone happens to be passing through Cashbot HQ in the busiest district after about 9:00pm Pacific time, keep your eyes open for a short, fat, orange bunny standing outside the dollar mint elevator. I'd love the company!

If you want i can help you with the mints or with the vp, but i have different hours and i don't go to cashbot hq because im maxed in that, so i don't think i will see you... But you can send me a code to be sf if you want and when we will be online in the same time i will help you.
I have another toon with 77 laffs (the toon i play with him all the time is 114) and when my brother play in this toon he was need to do a mints, and the high laffers toons make him die few times in the last battle only because they think he is noob, and that was really mean and he was very sad (he even don't play in toontown anymore because it happen a lot of times and make him to be sad), so i think if you go with friends that is better because they can save you.
