What shopkeeper did you rescue on your first VP?

I tried three times to beat the VP before I finally won. I tried to rescue Flippy(my first VP run), Lil' Oldman(second VP run), and Flim Flam(third unsuccesful VP run). My first succesful VP run I rescued Lil' Oldman! I feel lucky. I thought he was rare.
