Please Operate the Crane! Yikes!

Anyone have any suggestions on how to operate the crane in Cashbot HQ? I have most awesome stomping skills when dealing with goons, but here recently, I've gone with toons with neither skills in crane or disabling goons. As a result, I laff out...along with everyone else. OMG! I went in with 3 Robber Barons and even they were totally weak at the crane. I would really like to get better at the crane to compensate in these types of situations. Please help. Thanks so much!!! :-)

BTW, I've done the arrow keys, and I can't seem to ever swing the safe high enough to hit the CFO's helmet. That goes the same for the goons, too.

OK first off all you operate the crane with the arrow keys and pick up goons and safes ( and let go ) with the ctr key.
When you picked up a safe you pull the crane all the way back to you and turn it till its aimd staright to the CFO. Give youreself a sec or two to let the safe come to a rest because when you pull out right away while its still swinging from left to right you proberly miss.
When safe hangs still just press the forward key and at the highest point let go of the safe, you will hit most off the time than.
Tip: as soon as you let youre safe go press ctr again to pick it up, safe will hit the CFO and you catch the safe again.
Now you dont have to go left or right, just pull all the way back again and go hit him again, this way you should be able to hit him about 3 times.

Only one thing........only throw a safe when CFO has a safe on his head ( you throw it off that way so you can hurt him whit goons again ), or when he is dizzy.
He gets dizzy after being hit a couple of times and you can see it because he will have those rounds above hits head and you hear birds , when you hit with a safe at that moment you hurt him real bad.

NEVER throw a safe when he is not dizzy because the safe will attach to his head and you must throw it off again.....

The ones killing goonies.....pick a cranedriver to protect and dont run around like crazy or stand with 2 or 3 by 1 crane.
My SF always stand by me and protect me all the way so i can concentrate on the crane.
Without her help i proberly still would be a short change lvl 1.
Thanx Princess Violet Purpleface, Love ya

If you aren't able to get the swing high enough, it is probably not you but your computer.

I at first had a problem of not getting enough swing also. I upgraded my vid card, which helped with some of the lag, but I still had problems with the safes. When I upgraded my CPU, the problem went completely away. The difference is amazing.

The only other thing I can suggest (if upgrading seems a bit extreme to you or you simply CANT upgrade) is that when fighting the CFO, make your window smaller. Before my upgrades, that was the only way I could survive in the CFO. If i didn't the lag was unbearable.

Thank you both for writing. I am thinking my problem is the second of the two, though. This makes a lot of sense. Every CFO I do, we have to restart the computer in order to play again. It's ridiculous how bad we freeze afterwards. So, you say make the window smaller, huh? I will try this. You're speaking of the option in the Shticker book, right? Okay, I will do this. Upgrading may be an option in the future, but not right now. Thanks so much for both of your suggestions.

I don't know about everyone, but using the option in the shticker book didnt work well for me. I use a command typed (or pasted, as the case may be) into and saved in the properties dialog box of the toontown shortcut. (I got the directions from the TUFS website, which is linked to in the fishing forum). Once you are playing in windowed mode, it is fairly simple to hit the "restore down" box next to the X and play in a smaller window. (This is how I always had to fish, as well, to actually catch anything). Hope it works for you, and good luck.

Phew...I thought I was the ONLY one who could not operate the cranes very well. I am so good at stomping I just always do that. I am glad you asked the question..you got some very productive responses...I'm taking notes

Ok, when the CFO has a helmet on his head what I normally do is first bring the crane back as far as possable, second line the crane up with the helmet and then SWING! Only do it really fast and it'll get off garenteed. And I see you say you're a great stomper, if so you should probably stay stomping (if you like it) I found out that most toons are either an excelent stoper or excelent craner. Everyone has their talent in the CFO. Like I loooove craning...and I bet if someone would stomp my goons I might actually be able to do the part of the CFO where you throw safes and stuff at him alone (with the stomper) but then, when it comes to stomping I'll kill myself! Lol, I probably look like a looser when it comes to stomping. when ever I try to get laff points by stomping goons I'll actually loose them!

-Hurdler Good luck with your CFOing.

Actually just moving the crane forward with a safe from a stand still position probably will not get you a really high throw. To get a really high throw you should move your crane forward all the way, then half way swing back, then forward again. Its like a swing in the play ground.

Don’t throw; just swing back and forward and you see that with each successive back and forward, the swing gets higher and higher. Then you have to time the throw.

Just keep practicing; you'll get it soon. It’s really not that hard.
