I just went through three mints with people not wanting to use sound lol. Sorry to say but the mints are boring and people want to get their cog bucks done as fast as possible. Sound is a really great gag to have. I don’t know why you would not want to have it. It kills all the cogs and saves on a lot of time. And it’s really easy to max.
Not to be mean or anything but sound is the best gag basically and most people prefer sound speed then normal speed. EDIT: The last mint i was in took over 1hr 15mins... one person didn't have sound and another didn't have toon-up lol. |

I have quite a few friends who do not have sound. Yes, sounding through the mints can be quicker, but I think it is wrong to reject another player simply because they do not have it. Hindsight is 20/20 and it is easy to regret not choosing it, or even to make another toons which has sound. I respect the players who do not have sound and choose to continue working their toons.
One of my soundless friends is Tinkercat and she is an RB50. I have a new sf on one of my lower toons who created a super noob without sound. I honestly respect her choosing to do that, as she had to know that a soundless super noob would have the additional challenge of finding others to work with her. |

When I first made my first toon, I didnt realize the benefits of any gag. Knowing what I know now, I would never make a toon without sound or lure. I think in cashbot and the cfo it is so neccsary to have sound. I am wondering though, if the next HQ to open, you will really need drop or something. I dont like to go with a toon who has no sound, but I wouldnt not go with you because of it and I would never leave you in the mint because you didnt. I think that is rude! There are other ways to kill the cogs. It is faster if you all have sound, but as long as you go for the cog most likely not to die with others doing sound, it shouldnt be a problem. I think you just encountered a jerk.

I too was not smart when I was first choosing tracks. My toon is without lure. This is more frustrating for me then others though. I could never solo the factory before it got easier as most of my friends could. However, I will not start over and would not expect anyone else to start a new toon becouse others did not like thier choice. I have worked very had to get where I am and am still not at RB50 yet. I have been HW50 since before CHQ. I have limited time and cannot move through these challenges as fast as others with less limits on thier play time.
I still hold hope that another playground will someday open called the island of lost gags. At that time I hope there is the chance to earn that last gag track or maybe a new and better gag track or further advances to the current ones. I see the missing gag that each of us have as a challange. Those who have both lure and sound have less challanges then those of us without one. We should all accept each others differences and work together to save toon town from the mindless cogs. Remember, it is just a game and should be fun at all times. |

There's another thread somewhere about a "soundless toon"...So, you aren't the only one who gets beefed about your gag choices. I personally could care less what gags a toon has as long as they play the game as a team. Squirt and Throw are the only gags you are required to have so if you get stinkied for not choosing sound then it is their loss. Lure, trap drop is quick. Either way, you obviously know how to play and not having sound hasn't hindered your progress through the game. My main toon doesn't have lure...I personally wish I had chosen it instead of drop but now I love my piano so I live without lure.

I have noticed, both on my soundless toon and on my other toons (with sound, as well as my mid-laff toon with no sound [yet] in the factory) that so many toons have depended so much on sound to get them where they are that their strategy without sound is severely lacking. In other words, if a mint took you 1 hr and 15 minutes, then something was seriously wrong with at least two toons' teamwork. I have done bullions with only two toons total and it generally takes less than 45 minutes.

Personally, I think the most fun of playing toontown is learning to play with all the varieties of gags others are playing with. And BTW, I've seen fogs miss the big cogs in the mints more times than I can count. It's the toons with the big lures that manage to pull our tail feathers out of the fire everytime. As for having sound and lure, I think that my toons with those are my weakest toons until they are maxxed out. Give me a good drop or trap in the bunch I'm playing with, and then you are having some fun.

I was in there with 3 random toons and they were all over 100, You should have seen the hissy fit the 105 threw. From not helping to whispering to me that I should leave, that I think you should choose sound, etc. Now I know how to play and I had a few elephant trunks left, so I managed to keep the fights fast and good with piano or Bcake and storm, but still got attitude. Finally after I used 10 or so gags, I used a unite phrase and gave everybody sound. Man you should have seen how I went from zero to a hero in 1 minute. What was really sad to me is how poor people play when sound isnt used by all. I mean people would wait too long and time would run out, one would lure and one would sound, etc... really bad play. Thats what happens to people when they just sound thru the mint all the time. Their brains rot and they forget simple tactics. Anyway, sorry you have to go through that all the time. Hope you have a better time next time. Good luck Prince Peppy Gigglebounce 115 max no lure |

Having no sound was your choice in not choosing it, as sound was alot of our choices to choose it.
If you get dissed because of the gags you didn't choose... how can you blame the other toons for not wanting to go in with you? You just gotta find ppl who don't care. I'm iffy on the no sound thing. I have done mints, CFO's and VP's with soundless toons and it can be worked around... meaning.. you got drop, and we have sound... I'm sure you're smart enuff to figure out which cog to use it on. The problem with the mints are some ppl need 8900 bucks and just aren't willing to go in with soundless toons because they want to get their bucks over and done with and shouldn't be dissed, just because they don't wanna go in the mint with that person. It's everyone's right to which gag they choose not to take, just as it is, everyone's right to choose who they want to go into battle with. My personal opinion on gags is, toonup, lure and sound should be chosen and trap and drop, I could care less about. Now, if I get dissed because of how I feel... then so be it. |

It happened to me once in the Dollar Mint. I went in with my soundless secret friend (I'm Soundless myself), and two random Toons. At the first group of Cogs, we used Lure and then picked them off one by one, so no problems, but at the second group, the others tried to use sound. We said we couldn't, and so after the second battle, the two Sounders left. My s.f. and I fought our way through the entire Mint, not skipping anything, without any restock barrels. It took 3 Unite Phrases and an SOS card, but we made it, and had a great time in the process.
I can understand the uses of Sound when time is of the essence, but it's by no means vital. For the most part, I've been fortunate enough to play with Toons who can adapt their battle strategy so that my lack of Sound isn't a problem to them. Typically when they do use Sound, I either target the Cog that won't be taken out or do Toon-Up duty. The problem arises when Soundless Toons encounter others who are so set in their ways that they can't come up with other strategies and are unable to work around the Soundless Toon. Instead of just blasting their way through, a Toon without Sound requires both the Soundless Toon and the others to use a little more strategy and be a bit more creative when it comes to Gag choices. Either way, I'm glad I don't have Sound. It keeps the game fresh and interesting. __________________ Toons of the World Unite! Prof. Coconut McBubble, 105 Laffs Toon-Up: Pixie Dust. Trap: Quicksand.
