CFO constructive criticism request

I had thought about posting this before, but didn't. However; this morning, I (on my toon, Violet Purplefoot) went into a CFO battle with some VERY good toons: one of which is an sf on one of my other toons and several of which I recognized from here...so I figured, "Oh, what the heck!".

First of all: to those in that group, I'm sorry. I readily admit that I am not the best CFO fighter. I always thought I did at least a decent job stomping goons...but have never been able to grasp the cranes. As I told a very good sf the other day, it's much like the VP. I was decent at pushing, but could never stun.

I have been in winning groups in the CFO before a few times (on open and test) but have lost more than I've won...and am usually the first to go sad.

For those who were with me this morning, do you have any advice?

Obviously, I need more practice...but am I doing something specific that I can change?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Debbie W.

I don't think I was with you but let me tell you this: Crane action has all to do with swinging(and timeing). Go back and forard to get a safe or a goon, go back and forward to send it to the CFO. Launch it strait forward and don't send a safe on an un-safed-headed and un-stunned CFO. Do it to one who's stunned or has a safe on his head. Goons blow up without damage if you send them to his head and Dropping a safe on a goon blows him up (good move if no Goon-stompin' toons are around.)

Debbie, try reading some of the discussions in these threads:
Complete guide to the Cashbot CFO battle.
CCG : Cashbot CFO Strategy Guide

Several people have discussed problems hitting the CFO with the crane and there are several responses to them on these threads. It boils down to this:
Do you have 'lag' or choppy graphics issues in the CFO battle, If so there are steps you can take to get your computer up to its best possible speed
here ~>Do you have a recent performance problem?
If it isn't a computer related issue then it is a simple matter of just learning the correct swing and release point for both stunned goons and safes. Read those links for many helpful tips about both problems.

Good Luck!
P.S. the other option is to go on a run with at least one SF that is good at it as well and allow them to help guide you. It is easy to tell if you are letting go late/early or not enough swing from inside a run.

Well I don't think I was one of the people with you but I have a few ideas that may help. I primarily am a stomper and have found that no matter how good the group with you is, battles can still go wrong! I don't think you should feel sorry for having trouble, everyone except testers are new to this and lots of people are still learning! Give yourself a break, try your best and have fun learning! I can crane when I have to, but I'm not all that great at it, so here's a few tips on stomping...

1. When the little goons come out there is no need to jump on these...simply run up behind them and into them...this is all it takes to stun these little guys. I've seen lots of people trying to jump on these little critters and it's so very hard to do! Save yourself a hit but simply running into them.

2. Pick ONE craner and stay with them. The job of a stomper is to protect the craners, running in circles around the cfo really isn't all that effective and can leave a craner unprotected. It's easy to miss goons when running around, but if all you have to do is protect your corner you're less likely to miss one, causing the craner to take a hit and lose time and laff.

3. Before the battle gets hairy as the CFO attains more damage, try to save as many treasures as you can for when the red hats come out. You'll be taking bigger hits for more damage and if you have "extra" treasures laying around you can simply run through a group to get your laff back up. It's also good to try to (if at all possible) leave some treasures near your craner so that if they get knocked off by the CFO/hit by a goon they can simply grab the treasures you've left and get right back on the crane.

4. Now here's where I'll say #3 is all well and good, but don't let your laff get too low either!!! The entire team needs to stay alive to help each other, so letting yourself get too low or going sad does noone any good. If you need the treasures you're getting, TAKE THEM!! While saving extra treasures for later in the battle is always a good idea, if you're in with a group of strangers, you may very likely run into someone who will grab any and every treasure they find to keep their laff up, leaving you with no extras to grab when you need them. So...if at all possible, save treasures for when you'll need them, but don't put yourself at risk to do so!

5. If the CFO has a helmet on his head, one thing a stomper can do to help the craners is to run into the CFO's treads, this will drop him down making it much easier for the craners to get a good shot in to knock off his helmet. A word of caution about doing this...you will lose 1 laff point running into the CFO, but make sure you back away RIGHT AWAY or he will swipe at you taking an extra 5 points.

6. If you watch the CFO and see him targeting your craner, you can also run into his treads at this time to divert him, sometimes this will stop him from throwing gears at the craner you're protecting.

7. If you're with a good group of craners, they will use the safes to eliminate extra goons as their numbers increase. A good craner will take the time to take out a large number of the reds (they simply need to drop safes on large groups of them) when they're swarming which will make your job all that much easier. This doesn't always happen of course and this is when you're more likely to go sad.

8. Finally, TEAMWORK is what is needed to have a successful CFO run. If you see someone needs help, try to help them, if they say they need treasures don't assume they're crying wolf, they're probably on their last legs and not taking the treasure you just stomped a goonie for to be mean, but to keep themselves in the game. If your laff isn't too low, leave a few extras laying around for those who are in dire straights to grab on the run. It's in everyone's best interests to keep everyone alive, the more people you have to help out, the better your chances of success are!

Bnkzsahm...hope this helps!!
