That's why I like playing with you Wizard Hawk.
You are considerate of others and even though you may not need to finish something, you DO stick in there and finish up if you are with someone else that may need it. Hats off you to you!!

I Agree...
I have seen this happen quite often lately. I am acutally hesitant to go on bullion runs that I need for bucks unless I have at least 2 sfs with me after an experience I had.
On this run there was 3 us high laffs and a 60 laffer who said that he needed to get a Robber Baron Tooth. I thought great we all need merits (Agreed on at the door) and we are going to help this toon with his task. We battle about 2 sets of cogs and then get to the puzzle room and the LOM toon is having a time with the puzzle so I wait for him. Before I know it I hear the other 2 had engaged the next battle of cogs and are sf chatting away. By the time I get there only 2 cogs are left. As soon as we were done they bailed without a word! Talk about Rude! I returned to the puzzle room to find that the toon there had left also. Most likely gave up after her heard the cogs being engaged. I was actually clueless on the jumping in the BULLION of all places that toons were doing until I read Jacees post so I started watching for toons that said that "They only have a Few minutes" etc. The FEW times I have seen toons do this we are already in the mint before they let everyone know. I think that it would be at least courteous that IF you are going to only do a partial run at least let others at the entrance know so that they don't waste time and gags. And if you are only need a few bucks I agree with WH that the Bullion isn't the place to be!

None of the times that it has happened to me has any of the toons made an attempt to state they are only there for a few bucks. None of them even said as much as goodbye or good luck, they simply jump when they have what THEY need.
It is my opinion that Disney should not have let the bucks count until you dance to prevent this, however we all must live by the same game parameters. I still think that it is rude to do this when you are on a random run. Pick the run that is closest to the amount you need and help those toons who are also helping you and finish the darned thing unless you all agree to leave. It is fair, and it's just the right thing to do.

You can tell the making of a man by his actions it's said, I say do a mint run! HAHA
Wizard you are being forced to run for all those bucks, that not all friends need. So like you I have seen everything by now. This leaving a Bullion with 3 players to finish, will be last time you ever play with me, among not waiting for toons. Rude behavior has no excuse! Yes you know who you are, so do I, keep a list. |

If I have a group for friends that need me for a CFO and I need more cog bucks I ask someone for a quick run. Since he/she dosent need bucks we can do a couple of battles with sound, then when I'm ready we tp out.
Yes this works with friends but it isn't very nice doing it to somebody who really needs the WHOLE mint. Quote:

I was ditched last night. We started the run with 4 toons, 2 of which were not maxed. One wanted to bypass some of the cogs in the mint pipe room (it is actually the label the game puts on that room and reminds me somewhat of the sellbot pipe room as it has two sets of cogs on each side, either of which can be bypassed). That was successfully discouraged with a few "I need more cog merits" phrases and we trudged on through all of the cogs until the supervisor was in sight. Then I caught one toon looking and looking at his book and I KNEW what was up. Sure enough, he tp'd out before the final battle.
We had three toons left who were strong enough to finish the battle but I found the behavior rude and unnecessary. However, let me make you aware of another trend...and one I'm guilty of doing sometimes. If, when I go in, I discover the floor is not going to have the amount of cogs I need...and especially if I'm with someone who I know needs a 44 cog mint, I will say..."Sorry, This is not what I'm looking for. I need more cog merits" and tp out before the first battle. I've done short mints with non-friends I shuffled and shuffled with in a busy district. It just didn't seem worth the hassle of trying to load an elevator again and GRRRR to all those ultra low-laff (17 - 40), weak and limited-gagged toons who hang around the mints trying to get on an elevator.

This doesn't bother me much at all since you haven't used any gags and it's just a run or TP to another toon back at the bullion entrance.
What bothers me is if you don't have any friends with you and get through 2-3 battles and have toons bail on you. After this you have no other choice but get gags again and hope to get a group of toons together AGAIN that need a full run. The 2 toons I ran into had the convenience of being able to have one stay at CHQ while the other TPd back for gags. I know for the fact the toons who did it post here and that's why I said "That Wasn't Nice"! Lets go to TTC! When I saw you at the gag shop. Just know that I will not be going back in the mint with either of you again on ANY of my toons! IMO if you are going to bail on a mint run do it with your friends don't leave others short. IF you don't have time to do a full mint run maybe you should stop playing the game and come back later when you do! Quote:

Again, the part that bugs me the most is that often these toons are needing less than 300 bucks. Why in the world don't you just do a coin if you only need a hundred or so instead of getting into a bullion run with people who really need a lot? That to me is what I feel is so rude about it. There is already a place for you to go if you don't need many bucks so stop going to higher mints and bailing on people!

Also notice how these small toons sometimes ditch when theres no high toons on? Yes their idea is to "use" us so they can win a battle they don't need. If they want to go so badly, they should switch districts, call some 30's 40's and 50's and go in the mint. I just dont want them wasting my time. |

Yes over 100 under 60lp lost in mint fights. That's about right. Just on my runs, so odds are pretty bad.
Let me add here, that does not mean we should leave them behind. Which high laffers want to do. Last edited by kalan; 03-02-2005 at 11:32 PM. |

It might not be such a bad thing if the cogbucks were distributed on a
shallower incline from start to finish. For example, right now you earn 24 bucks for the first group of cogs, and upwards of 272 for the supervisor group for an average of 148. They could change it to go from 100 for the first group and 196 for the Supervisor group for the same 148 average. That way if you do get dumped, the cogbucks you earned would be more substantial. At the same time, it would also encourage toons to bail even faster, not having to go as far for bucks. But, it would provide us with a better reward for soloing as far as we can go, on those occasions when we don't want to wait for other toons to come along, don't have any friends online, or get dumped and want to squeeze out a few more bucks. Because merits/cogbucks are so unique compared to anything else in the game, I see the current "cog destruction" reward system as threefold:
earning merits/bucks would essentially turn it into a task-based reward system. My vote is leave the system in place but if anything, distribute the merits/bucks a little more evenly throughout the factory/mint for those who get dumped. But that's just me

I think the BIGGEST thing missing in these cases is COMMUNICATION. There are several posts that talk to the point of using speedchat to indicate the goal. Things like..."I only have a few minutes" along with telling others you need merits.
You won't catch me bailing on a mint run no matter what I need. If I go in with strangers, I plan to defeat all the cogs unless they tell me otherwise. Again...the key is communication. Use the speedchat PLEASE. Jumping out of a mint run without saying ANYTHING is plain rude.

I absotively Posolutely agree with you here! (is this the first time?) Last nite I needed 680. Went with a friend who needed 200. Stood by the dollar mint door for a while, but since it was so late at nite (early a.m. actually) we only had luck finding toons at the bullion. So we decided we needed to buck up (pun intended) and do a full bullion. We go in with the first two toons to show up, turns out they are a 108 and a 64. The 108 tps out after the first battle, for lack of confidence or full bucks I will never know. We weren't about to leave this 64 behind unless he went sad or suggested it first, so we went on. He played very well, and it turned out he wasn't done with LOM so wasn't even there to earn parts. He most probably was there doing some brrgh task, but he exhibited good teamwork, paced his gags well, and was maxed or nearly so on 3 of his 5 gags (trap/toon up level 5, drop nearly maxed, no sound). Obviously we could have tpd out also, but we finished the mint with him out of honor. EDIT: forgot to mention the worst part! STUPID ME had forgotten to get gags from my last mint run! Thankfully the last mint run had had a gag restock right before the supervisor. LOL, like Kalan, that toon that bailed made my list too. That to me is what the game is about. Teamwork, not just because someone is doing what you think they should do, but because you have become part of a team for one reason or another.
