A quick mention about safes

after going sad twice last nite with the same friend who won both battles, we had a little talk about what went wrong. Both times, we were on next-door cranes for the first time. Both times, I got surrounded by red goons and had only one safe to smoosh them with, and both me and the stomper(s) near me went sad. After the second battle, I mentioned to my friend that I Couldn't get to any safes to smoosh the goons, and couldn't stay on the crane long enough to swing them away. He laughed and said he had had plenty, he had four near him - he said he makes sure to keep them near him in case of problems like that, grabs them away from the CFO when they land near him.

I asked him why he didn't pass any to me? He said he didn't have time, he was too busy trying to defeat the CFO.

What a shame I was so busy trying to stomp the eight goons swarming his way to make sure he didn't get knocked off his crane too that I went sad before I saw that happen. Twice.

(In other words, please pass the safes around evenly)

Goon side/safe side

I use a goons on one side, safes on the other strategy when I crane.

At the beginning of the battle, I pull the safes
(usually just one or two) from my lure range on the door side to the track side of my crane. I scatter them between the two cranes AWAY from the CFO so that way two craners can reach them. I like my lure range on the door side to have free navigation for luring goons, stomping and gathering treasures if need be. It is a pain when I need goonies and all my mag grabs from the door side are the safes. With one or two safes gathered between me and the craner to one side, I only have scan the safe stock for one craner. If the craner to the door side needs them, it is a quick grab and swing to toss it over.

It takes some practice to be comfortable enough to look out for other craners and how many safes they might have. I know there are lot's of toons who are still learning how to crane so this may just take a bit more time to see consistency.

Just my strategy at this point.

To keep safes handy...ah yes...it is unpredictable when the "safe well" will run
dry, and often times switching cranes or stomping for a while becomes a
necessity. You can't always depend on other toons to automatically toss you
safes, and it's not any easier tossing a safe to someone else any more than it
is to navigate to the speedchat phrase "I can't reach any safes" during the
heat of battle.

So, here is a tip that you will cherish for as long as you fight the CFO...

You will think of the Goose with gratitude when you read this...
unless of course you know this secret already

Ready?

You're going to love this...

Now that I have your attention...

When you are either knocking a safe off the CFO's head, OR attacking him
when he's stunned....

Just before the safe makes contact with the CFO, hit the CTRL key and lure
the safe back into your grasp like a yo-yo. You will hit the CFO AND retain
your safe.

You are quite welcome

Loosy,
Yes this is a very good tactic. Use it all the time. Sometimes, though I end up with too many safes if somebody on the other side doesn't know this trick. In that case, I have to just let some go to even out the safe distribution.

Agreed. The more opportunity each CO has, the better. I try to retain 2 safes,
one on either side of me (tight). When other safes are tossed in my direction
I'll immeditaley toss them to one of the other CO's as soon as possible because
it means someone else no longer has 2 safes at their disposal.

I nailed the CFO 3 times with the same safe once
(almost 4 but it would have become a helmet).
Swing...let go...lure quick, swing...let go...lure quick,
swing...let go...lure quick...fun!

Great tips guys...

all for naught when someone is purposefully keeping the safes and admittedly stockpiling them.

Breathe, K, this time during sellbot VP, not many could stun, most were just learning to "pushback" well, and toonups were a hit or miss situation. Not everyone cares about teamwork. It will all be ok in the end. Don't get so worked up.

OK better now thanks.

Cool Again I'm totally lost and confused

How can a team, striving towards the same goal, deprive a teammate of anything that helps them WIN. I just did CFO will all penny's, now do you want to win? Keep the RB on the crane and protect him. You want to just play with cranes, or stockpile safes, you really are wasting space. My take, Sorry!

AMEN. Its about the teamwork. Some people think that a team is 8 (or sometimes less, but that's a different post ) equal toons going in to defeat the CFO, and other people think it is one or two stars with their supporting cast. If that is so, then perhaps these stars should work on their cog fighting skills so they can defeat the pre-CFO cogs alone and just go without the supporting cast and prove how awesome they are. But that's just my opinion. (Kalan you know me and my "gag peeve" heehee)

We have talked about this before. If you want to be an asset to ANY team, ya gotta learn to do it all. And to do it all, ya gotta LEARN. (I am impressed with you, Kalan, learning the crane so well after being such a good stomper. Someday I wanna be just like you!) The process to learning means watching, listening and doing. Just hope this post helps somebody somewhere know that keeping too many safes near them isn't the way to help the entire team win. But then again, there is the "You are responsible for your own survival" issue that was never resolved, and this is probably part of that. (In other words, if you arent concerned about whether everyone that enters the elevator wins, then disregard this opinion.)

there can only be 4 crane operators

I don't like to fight CFO w/random toons anymore. I've found too many people only want to run the crane so they stand back and wait for the crane operators to get hit and grab the cranes. I saw a toon stand next to a good operator "who asked politely to operate a crane" and never move the entire game yesterday. Too bad for her we had that super stomper Bob with us and that toon never got knocked off the crane.

Take some turns stompin' people.

The damage is not different. The yo-yo tactic takes place after the attack.

I just go ahead and stomp in situations like that. I look at it this way: if they're
any good, I'll still win. If they're not, and are greedy about using the Crane,
I'll let their own greed succumb them. I Keep stomping, and when they go sad
because they didn't want to relinquish the Crane controls, I can then step up to
the plate and save the day for the rest of the team, whoever's left that is, hehe

well i have died alot in cfo but i dont keep safes around me they have ended up around me before and if some one needs one i throw it to them. Just because you have rb in there dont mean that they good at crane, i have seen 1's beter on the crane then me and i am good at it. If you want to win the cfo and if you have 8 people, you know to have 4 on the crane. Problem with this is you go with random toons and all them want to smash goons, that not going to work. Well have the other 4 gaurd each other one for each preson that is 2 on each side of the door. If you can hit the cfo fast enoff and throw the safe at him when he is stun you will not have to worry about the goons. This dont happen to much.
