Super-Noob Help needed

So, I stupidly picked the "Help a toon with 50 laff or less defeat a Cog VP" task, and I have been stuck on it since summer of last year. I would really appreciate it if a Super-Noob could help me with this. Thanks a lot! :P

That's a killer task. No one will even let 50 laffers inside the VP elevator.

Yup, that is exactly why I need help...I asked for a super noob because maybe the other toons would respect his/her gags and Cog Level. Idk, it was worth a shot..

go to the groups/clans section, then the cold caller's guild subforum, then post in the uber toons discussion thread. I'm sure they will help you.

They get a little testy if you don't follow their stratagy, which is lure the cog on the left, kill the cog on the right, and no sound. this works extremely well and keeps the damage from a missed lure down to what one cog can inflict. depart from the strategy and they will not likely want to help you again.

I have taken that task several times. no big deal if you go with the cold caller's guild.

I'll help

I have a supernoob who is a 49 laff Hollywood 43. She needs about 2000 more merits and she will be good to go. I am on my way now to finish them up. The only drawback with her is that she is that all 50 of her friend slots are entirely full, so we will not be able to talk in game. I am working on promoting her for a goal of reaching Holly 50 before the CB update hits the open server.

If I happen to miss you during one of the brief moments when she can VP (and is not busy running merits in the factory) I also have a little 40 laffer, although she is still a Cold Caller. It would probably work best to go with her during one of the scheduled Cold Caller Guild runs. She is always ready to VP, so any kind of notice is fine.

Not to completely disagree with Zaphod, but my supernoobs like sound when it seems like the best gag to use, and it can help save their other gags. However it does need to be chosen wisely and is not used recklessly. If we go with the Cold Caller Guild, it probably would be best to not plan on using it at all, and to stick with the lure left, kill right strategy. Let me know when you are available. Either of my toons would be happy to help.

Talking Peppy Bumblefoot

I have seen several people complain about this task.I have already completed it once and am ready to do it again. When I start getting bored with doing the factory merit runs I go to V.P. at times when there are a mixture of low and mid laff tunes. You might go sad a few times but you only have to replace suit parts so you can go right back.I had more fun doing this than going with other hollys.I also got to see more ways of fighting the V.P. since I had to run around so much.I think this is a better way of helping people learn to V.P.than taking one cold caller with the rest 100+.

Thanks for all the encouragement people! ^_^ Salty, thanks so much for the offer. But it would be much easier if we had a better way to communicate. Do you have AIM or MSN?

I also started doing this a long time ago with my big toons. I found a full load of Hollywoods in VP to be extremely boring. Sometimes the little toons can be a source of aggravation in there, when they don't want to listen and can't seem to learn. But I also found it to be even more exciting and rewarding when I can have a successful run while bringing as many new toons as possible along with me. I enjoy the challenge of teaching new toons the best strategies, and it is always rewarding when they seem to appreciate it. Yeah, for me this makes the game more fun. It's not always about being the first to get to the biggest suit, in my opinion.

Yikes I just uninstalled MSN and Yahoo, due to incredible lag I have been having lately. Perhaps my little toon would be the best choice for you. The CCG meets tonight at 10:30 p.m., Central time in Funny Field. I will meet you or anybody else who has that task, on my little toon, Stormy Wind. Just post the name of your toon, and I will look for you. When loading, stay close, so we can load together. There is no elevator shuffling with the CCG. Feel free to post or PM a code to me.

I think the whole point of helping a toon tasks are being missed. How can a cold caller participate among hollywoods. If a gag misses it is blamed on their low level gags.We forget they miss sometimes anyway. This task is not for a 50 laffer helping a 100+laffer but the other way around.

Yes you are absolutely correct. However, (unfortunately) a lot of 100+ Hollywood toons are not in a position of being willing and/or able to help a little toon through the VP. I do not believe this was something Disney anticipated when they started Cog HQ. Having big toons of my own, I can totally see it from a big toon's perspective. A lot of people are very goal driven, and limited on their time. They don't want to risk losing a VP battle having already invested hours to get their suits, only to have to go back for an additional 20 minutes to an hour to get back parts, only to do it all over again. They want to reach a certain goal. They see the little toons as an obstacle to overcome, push aside, run off, or step over. This has never been my point of view, but I know where they are coming from just the same. It is part of the culture which, I believe, had stemmed from the structure of the Sell HQ suit/merit/battle. And I do not think this was something Disney saw coming when they made the place.

The task is there, and often can be completed by helping a genuine new toon, with a laff of fewer than 50. However, for a variety of reasons, it is extremely difficult to accomplish. Basically, it takes some thought about the battle, as well as compensating for some of the possible poor choices of the little toons. This is not something every toon is capable of doing. Also, unless you belong to a fine group of toons (like the Cold Caller Guild) whom you know are willing to take the extra care and time to do this, it seems next to impossible to find a group of 5, 6, or 7 big toons willing to take one or more little ones inside with them. Fear, a lack of confidence or skill may keep many toons from taking a chance.

My personal reasons for creating and playing a super-noob were not so I could help big toons with this task (I have shared my reasons for doing this elsewhere on these threads), but it does become a natural byproduct as well as a useful thing to do. All of our little toons have also helped genuine noobie toons through the VP at various times during some of our all-uber toon runs. We do these runs to add an extra thrill and challenge to our own game play. In the process an occasional new toon stumbles upon our group and ends up coming along for the ride. Sometimes they make it and sometimes they don't, but hopefully they have learned something and had some fun along the way. I know all of us have!
