Ive just been nosing through test forum and found a disscusion on merit system and can't believe what i'm reading.

There is a suggestion that merits that have been gotten b4 was a program mistake and actually a factory shoud supply no more than 97 merits!!!

Ultimately (to my query on only getting 97 merits instead of the 300 odd) i recieved this reply

This is alarming, if true. Cause it means to get 5500 merits to get next holly suit will take over 57 fact runs!!! So if your want to be a Mr 50 Holly anytime this century you better do it fast.

However i find this very hard to believe, and don't think 10+ facts as existing on open is to easy for a lot of peeps.

Can peeps on test confirm something.

Has this been confirmed on test, by doing a full run and checking what merits you actually got?

If this is true then another thing to think about, sell bots are getting a demotion due to new HQ (basically a one level drop with foreman dropping 2levels), which will mean even less merits!!!

If Robber Barron Full merits is 8000, then you work the maths....... :smiley25:

One other thing are we sure that they are not refering to a bug that allowed peep to get their suits without getting required merits, rather than actually this major reduction of merits from fact?

Well if this turns out to be true, then toontown is gonna be a loney place, cause it will be only the 24/7's who will have time to get enough merits to complete new suit.

The current merit system, while a grind imho, is significantly hard enough and yet easy enough to do that I don't think it should be changed.

From a history of discussions in test it looks like they have tested this there and this is how it works ... 97 merits for a full factory run.

Well, we have yet to discover if Disney, since they lowered the sellbots' levels, if they intend on also lowering the amount of merits you have to get them. That's the next question I'd ask them.

This is just wrong, I am getting really board as it is with 500-600 merit runs. If they want to loose customers, then go ahead and make it harder. It's a bad customer service move on their part... I guess thats why their marketing department gets paid the big bucks.

If a merit run at best will give you 97 merits and a long run takes 15-20 minutes, you will at best spend: 14 hours doing merits alone! Worst case: 19 hours!

+ Cog suit parts.

I've asked TT to confirm or deny this.

Another simple possibility for Disney to encorporate would be to change the merit values of the cogs. Maybe one merit per cog level, ie. Lvl 5 Cog = 5 merits, level 8 cog = 8 merits. Keeping the same 'addition' rules, that would probably still work out to the same number of merits per factory run with smaller cogs.

Any way you look at it, until it happens you have to wait and see what is actually done before you gripe about it. And remember, what happens on Test doesn't necessarily happen in open. They do make things easier at times to get more testing done... like:

Temporarily reduced the number of cogs emerging from the Cashbot C.F.O., to make it easier for testing.

The requirements for a full Sellbot and Cashbot Suit and Merits have been temporarily lifted for testing purposes only.

Let me make something clear here. The entire Sellbot factory has been downgraded. The factory foreman is no longer a level 11 on test, it is a level 9. The cogs have been downgraded as well, the smallest cog you find now is a level 3. I personally have done a full factory run on test, and yes, the new lower level of cogs is now worth 97 merits. You also do not get any merits if you dont defeat the factory foreman.

The other thing that was downgraded was the VP. There are no longer 35 (I think that's how many it was) cogs, there are now 20. Having said that, it is important to note that the VP himself has become more difficult to get over the edge. He does not stay stunned as long, sometimes he doesn't stay stunned at all, and he also now jumps while stunned. That is not to say there will be fewer wins, rather, he will simply take a little longer to defeat.

At this point in time, Disney has not made mention to anyone as to whether or not the total number of merits will be reduced as well. So far the requirement is still 5500 merits for Mr Hollywood 12+ and a Robber Baron 12+ is 8900, however, I'm not sure of the merits recieved in the long mint.

Harder yes, but this does not make the game harder, it makes it much more boring. I wan't a challenge where the battles themselves are more difficult, that has nothing to do with endless repetition, we had enough of that already.

Harder, not dumber.
This is just a dumb change if it goes through as it is now on test.
If you have 4 maxxed toons all with sound all knowing exactly where they are going lets be generous and say 10 minutes a run not counting restocking... just run time.

57 merit runs at 10 minutes each.

comes out to about 9.5 hours of JUST DOING FULL FACTORY RUNS to get 5500 merits. Best case scenario.
