I am so tired of being left in the elevator!
twice now I have went to go fight the VP and was left alone to die in the elevator.
The last time I went I was told it was too risky and to please "go away" I am a 65 laff and he was a 55/70something. he didnt even have a full laff meter. So when will it not be too risky for me? do I need to wait till I am in the 100s to try? I am so sick of losing my suit parts by my computer freezing and being left alone. Now I need to do a cog suit part run again. Why do toons do this? |

I understand how you're feeling, btdt This happened to me on my first toon. He was a fully maxed 103 laffer, but he was in a Cold Callers suit. Fighting the VP can be challenging and requires some knowledge, but mostly good teamwork and strategy to succeed. The Cold Callers suit tells everyone that this is the first attempt for this toon at fighting the VP. These other toons are concerned that you may lack experience and ability to contribute to the team effort.
If you look under the Groups/Clans forum, you will find a group called the Cold Callers Guild. I have been a member since those early days of getting ditched on the elevator with my first toon. It is this group's mission to help assist Cold Callers with fighting the VP as long as everyone follows some simple rules. This section also has some good stickys that will give you some valuable VP fighting strategies and help you understand what to expect so you can be a contributing team member. Check it out. It's the best thing going in TT for Cold Callers by far! |

I wouldn't try VP until atleast 70 laff. You're only 5 laff away, but those 5 points could save your Toon. My first victory at VP was 75 laff and my friend's was at 98 laff. I see some 100 laffers that are cold callers! It's ok to wait, you don't even HAVE TO VP. If you want, go ahead. If you want, wait. It's all up to you. (I wouldn't go in with all random Toons unless atleast 1 was my sf.)

My first run was when I was 76 Laffpoints-- my first WINNING run, that is.... Yeah, you don't HAVE to do the VP. Although I do suggest you wait untill you arei nyour mid-70's, but you just do what feels best for you!

ok thanks guys.
well the person who told me to leave was a level 1 cold caller. I guess I will wait longer. I just got excited about it and wanted to try. The first time I went in I was the last one left and of course died second latter after battling for a while with 8 toons. |

2 things that you can do

The answer to you question wont have any meaning to you until you are a high laffer and 7 cold callers raid the elevator and wont move. They also won't go down together either, which is so puzzeling. They all load the elevator, wont move, dont think its too risky for them, but wont fight with other cold callers as a group of 8. The facts you have to face is that most high laffers, and low if they are man enough to admit it, want to have the best chance to win the VP fight. 65 laff is considered by most toons to be on the low side for toons on their first toon. There is no way of other toons knowing what your experience is 1st ,2nd, 5th toon, so they have to judge you on what is tangable. A 65 laff toon with maxed gags screams out experience and probrably a uber/super noob, but 65 laff and your gags relate to no experience and dead weight to the majority with exceptions. You can fight the system, and wast your time getting ditched and flushed down the toilet, and make a run every 7 or so, or you can find friends get a group together and avoid all the anguish. Another option you have is to go back to finishing your tasks, and come back stronger with more laff points and better gags. The Cold Caller Stigma wont magically disappear because your laff and gags are better, and aside from the CCG, you will be better accepted at the elevator as a cold caller 1 with 90 to 100 laff and decent gags. I have 3 Hollywood toons, and get treated the same way at the elevator while making new toons. They have no idea that when they tell me "it's to risky", and "please go away" that I am a hollywood 50 on 2 toons and a holly 20 on another. And then again, even with all the experience I have ,I wont take a toon to the VP with the gags that you posess unless I put a group of friends together and they are ok with it. I don't think the laff matters at all, but to experienced strangers they will look at your gags and suit to make a determination. Between the 2 of them the experienced toons will look at the gags mostly. Complaining here isnt going to get you anywhere, you cant control other people, only yourself. As long as Disney doesn't do someting postive to fix this division, the war will rage on with no end. Take matters into your own hands. Assemble your own group, get better gags and laff, or do the shuffle its all up to you. But dont expect a resolution on this board. Most toons in toontown don't read these posts, and both sides of the issue are firmly entrenched in their way of playing this game. And all of us have the right to play it our way, since we are paying to do so. Last edited by Hollywood50; 11-19-2004 at 03:30 AM. |

Try going on a CCG run
You may want to try a CCG run (look under Groups/Clans).
They have been very helpful for me and I have 4 toons (1 Mr. holly, 1 The mingler, 1 Glad Hander, and 1 CC2). My CC2 has only 55 laff and I have never had a problem going with the CCG. I actually went yesterday (tuesday 10PM PST run) and won. It was a close fight but I was fighting the COGS/SKELS/VP and not the toons around me. You don't have to join to try but I think that you will once you give it a try. Just the opinion of one cat Peach Cat |

Hollywood50 has a good point. I would also like to point out that it takes 1 toon to get you shuffeled off. The reason is if 1 toon isnt comfortable and jumps off, so will the others. If you get on with 7 toons that are comforable with you, then you should be alright.

Don't get me wrong. It IS risky to go in there at low levels without some firepower in your arsenal. However... it's risky to take on a level 3 cog in ttc when you have level one gags and 16 laff and no one around you has toonup, or there is no one else around at all... but it still can be done, with a little bit of common sense and strategy, and a touch of luck. If a lower gagged/lower laff toon uses teamwork instead of heroic bansai techniques, and the rest of the *team* does too, a lower laff can make it through without much concern except whether lure is gonna miss a second time and toonup is gonna be a dud both times. If I see someone in the lobby telling someone else this is too risky for you, I check out both toons. If there isn't something wacky about the toon who is being snubbed, I will take them along just to prove the other toon wrong. By NO MEANS will I get on the elevator with the toon giving the stinkys. I think this is the only way we will get through to them.
