Question Memo and cog suits

Please forgive my ignorance, but I am trying to help my 7 year old son play this game. I have two questions to which I am looking for the specific steps in order to complete certain tasks.

1) How do you get memos from Sellbot HQ? I have tried to research this but I have not found a clear answer. I could be way off base but from what I have pieced together, I think that if he goes into the lobby of the factory, defeats the cogs in that area and then returns to the playground he may then have a memo? Is that correct? He has gotten past the lobby area many times but then dies later on in the factory. On all of his victories it never says 'task completed' so I am not sure.

2) How can you get Cog Parts for the Cog Suits? It says to go to the factory, but what needs to be accomplished there? I'll admit that I have not researched this one as much as I could have, so sorry if it has been posted many times before.

Thanks for your help. I am hoping that I have made the title of this thread so that anyone else that searches the word 'memo' or 'cog suits' can come to this thread for the answer.

Thanks again,

Pete F

you get memos from defeating sellbots in teh hq and you get parts by going in the factory area of the hq!

In order for your son to retrieve the hq memos, all he needs to do is defeat 1 or more cogs in sellbot hq (he can stay in the "pit" area). He doesn't need to enter the factory itself to complete those tasks.

As for the cog suit, he needs to collect 10 suit parts and merits in order to fight the vp and get promoted. To obtain a suit part, he must defeat the factory foreman in the factory. If he enters the factory with 3 others, he should have no problem with this unless, of course, the other 3 are very low level toons. Merits can be obtained by defeating sellbots anywhere, not just in hq.

Hope this helps!

This is exactly the detailed type answer I was hoping for. He has defeated many cogs in the 'pit' and 'factory' areas, but I have never seen the message come up where it says 'task completed' during the victory dance. He usually does more battles and ends up loosing all his LP before exiting the area so perhaps that is causing the memo to not show up. We will try your instructions and reply back with the results . . Thanks much!

Just to Clarify

I think a message should pop up that says either "Items Recovered: Sellbot Memo" or "Items Not Recovered: Sellbot Memo" or something to that effect, after each successful cog battle. If neither message is popping up perhaps he has already got the memo. Did you check his toon task page in the shticker book?

Thanks to all for your help. My son is past the memo and has his first piece of a cog suit! I am not sure exaclty what happened with the memo, but I thing that Fluffy Frecklefoot was probably correct in that he had already picked it up and just didn't realize it. You guys are great and thanks for letting me ask the questions that seem like no brainers to most people. If you see Loopy Bagelquak around, be sure to say hi! Of course his conversation will be limited since I only will allow him to do speed chat. ; )

Thanks much!

It is just as well that you only allow your son to speedchat. Many children find speedchat complicated, and secret friend chat is even more complicated for them. My son, 8, has secret chat access to my friends because I often play his toon (if it werent for me he'd still be in toontown central, he's working in the donalds dreamland playground now). Generally if my friends speedchat his toon and he's playing he simply responds with "i am dylan". This tells my friends that the person operating that toon is likely to make bad gag choices and they follow his lead to protect him (if they've chosen to play together that is). I trust my adult friends with my son, I have awesome friends in Toontown. However, my son does find secret friend chat difficult, and if he tries to chat that way, he tends to take too long to make a gag choice and often misses a round as a result. It has taken time, but he's finally gotten the hang of speedchat. Have fun in Toontown!

Glad you got the answers you needed. I came in here and asked some of these same questions when I was trying to help my 6 yr-old son with the game. It's a good place to find answers and help.

Another suggestion someone gave to me when I first started posting in here was to use "Search" (found in the heading by the ice cream cone) to help you find answers. Sometimes I hesitated in starting a new thread if I had a question that I figured had already been answered before. I still use it if I have any questions on the game. Sometimes you need to find the right combinations of "words" to do the search, but it saved me lots of time in weeding through all the posts and threads in this forum.

Just a word of warning to you....I started out in the game by trying to help my son with various tasks etc. and now I play more than he does.... Good luck to you and your son in the game!!

petef I think you and ToonMom are very savvy parents. I admit that my daughter's toon languished in TTC for ages before her big brother (who could read much better than she could) helped her figure out what toon tasks were! I didn't find this site until I had been playing for a couple of months and began to wonder if I was the only adult in the world who played this charming, silly game.

Just a word of advice, never utter these words "I'll work on your toon for you after you are in bed (or school, or whatever.)" Once you start down that road there's no going back...

LOL....you are so right about that!! I said that exact same thing to my son and before I knew it, I was playing his toon after he was in bed and finishing up toontasks left and right. My son started to not like it when he wasn't there to help pick the new task or to be the first one to use the new level of gag. Since I didn't want to end up in a "power-struggle" with my son for his toon....I got my own.

And the rest (as they say) is history....

It's to late for me. Others save yourselves! I am currently 'helping' my son build his first cog suit. LOL! He started to give me assigments to accomplish for him during the night after he goes to bed. Actually it is really nice to play this game together. I have been teaching him toontown etiquette that I have picked up from this board (like no hoping off elevators at the last second). He actaully picked up this habit after being burned a few times. He now knows he can exit after he gets off of the elevator if needed.

Anyway, enough rambling for me. We are both enjoying this game very much and I am sure we will see some of you out there on the playing field!

One of my friends got a second account for herself, and now she and her daughter play together. They sit in the same room. I think thats pretty cool. I am one of those strange adults that dont even have a good excuse, like I am helping my kid. I just play cause I think its hella cool.

This wont work for some people cause you have to pay for a second account, but as far as activities with your kids are concerened its probably the cheepest thing to do now a days. My friend took his kids and wife to a Dogers game recently (cheep seats even) It cost him nearly 200 dollars. Thats like 6 months playing this game. LOL
